Hear from the Players – Witcheye Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Witcheye:

While we agree with a few other people who have posted reviews in that this isn’t really a platformer, it does have a lot of platformer mechanics. We also have no idea what other genre the developers (or publisher-whoever wrote the iTunes description) could have tied this game to. Arcade-like, platformer-influenced… Flick…. …. Game? =P Whatever you want to call it, it comes down to this:;: Witcheye is a very enjoyable game. You’ll make your way through each stage controlling an eyeball by dragging a finger across the screen. 360 degree movement, and to stop all you need to do is tap anywhere. Very simple controls. To dispatch an enemy, you just need to bump into them. To destroy bricks, bump into them. To collect an item, run into it. There’s 3 green diamonds and one blue (so, of course, 4 total) to collect in each stage, which you’ll have to be kind of quick to grab as they pop up about a character’s length and then fall downward and off the screen, so keeping on your toes is required if you want to collect everything. There’s also leaderboards for each world you’ll make your way through, one for not taking damage and one for how long it takes you to beat all of the stages in each of the worlds. Needless to say, this adds a bit of replay value to the game, which is always nice. The level designs are top notch, graphics are beautiful, the controls are tight and very responsive and the game is just flat out fun to play. If all of this sounds like something you might be interested in, we totally recommend you check this one out. $3 is a GREAT price for what’s offered here. Thank you, devs!! =D.

Smart, funny, addictivethis game is a throwback in the best possible way. We were loving it and then our four year old saw us playing and he loved it, too. Great music, too!

Controls are our only gripe. Not as precise as Id like but still a fun game to play through.

Good music and aesthetics, unique concept. But we just dont enjoy it. Its purely an action game with no strategic decisions. Easy to know what to do, requires precision to execute. Also, the first boss fight is long and tedious.

Not a bad game Im just not a fan of the controls. We also feel like we should stop once we kill something instead of bouncing off… It just doesnt feel right the way it is. Also, on the rock boss level 1-5 we think, he bounced off to the right side of the screen, through the key/wall never to be seen again so Im stuck having to redo the level. Not a huge deal but was annoying. If devs want to reply back we can send a video of it.

We are so glad to play this app! Great app.

Witcheye is a delicious love letter to classic arcade/platformers. The pixel art is gorgeous in a market oversaturated with similar art styles. The music is cute too. Most of all, controls are tight and the gameplay is super satisfying. Lots of replay value! Multiple difficulties, boss AND mini boss rushes, and speed runs.

This game is awesome. It really feels like a game built for switch but on mobile. The controls are precise and fit well with the game play. Beautifully illustrated. Im hooked!

Great pixel art, tons of collectibles, challenging but fun gameplay, leaderboards and achievements galore, cool and unique story, controls that are perfect for touchscreen – all these things contribute to one of the best mobile games we’ve played this year. And we play a LOT of mobile games. =)

Im honestly impressed how much effort was put into this game. All the little things like enemy animations and graphics were very detailed. Would definitely recommend.

Creative, fun and one Im enjoying daily!

Overall really awesome. Highly recommended.

Love it. No IAP and awesome design and controls.

Controls could be added with a joystick or something…. Swiping is not as responsive.

The swipe mechanic makes controls inaccurate and takes away from the preciseness of a platforming game. Looks pretty, cool soundtrack but wish we could get our 2.99 back.

The graphics are great, the music is good, and the level design is charming and fun. Although, we find controlling the player extremely frustrating. Simply put its just not fun to be the player. We appreciate the simplicity the developer was going for with the controls, but we feel like a more precise alternative would have been more beneficial. Perhaps the developer could have implemented a seeking behavior where the player would fly directly to wherever the users finger is pressed down. Maybe having a virtual joystick instead could have worked too. Even just restricting the player into only being able to move in 8 directions could be better than the current implementation. The swiping mechanic is immensely inconsistent. This game is a breath of fresh air. We havent played a game this polished on the App Store in a while. We really want to like this game, but we just cant with the current controls. All in all, we would still considering picking up this game just to support the developer and encourage them to make more games to this standard. Even with just frustrating controls, Im still going to tough it through and beat the game.
