We played this as a teenager years ago on the computer. Safe to say Im so so happy its on mobile now-and plays really well on mobile. If youre looking for an easy game: dont play Wyvern. If youre looking for a game whose challenges and time demands feel super rewarding, then play Wyvern. The races are super fun, with unique pros and cons. The skill system is unique as well, and the guilds are a lot of fun, with more being added in the future. If you decide to play, myself and others will be happy to help you along your journey through Wyvern!

Im really glad that this game is back up. We highly recommend this to anybody.

Notch support would give this 5 stars.

We really like the game and all the mechanics. The only issue we have is the quest navigation isnt going to the next area, like if we need to meet another person for a quest, the navigation wont move to the other person, the other issue with the navigation is that it goes into the wrong area we were doing one quest and it was just in the middle of a wall. It wouldnt move. It wouldnt do anything, and we were never able to complete the quest.

The concept is very appealing for fans of old school type games, but there is only 1-3 people online at a time.

Enchanting gear in this game is OP and requires pay 2 win purchases to do. Also there is a community of players from this games days in early 2000s who bully new players. Developers also give these select players advantages in game. Decent solo game, but community is ruined by these 40 yr old high school bullies. And to get truly effective gear youre going to spend real money. Developer has also gimped drop rates for decent gear in PVM content – leaving you forced to use P2W to get gear to be able to progress.

Dev is no longer working on the game. The sole remaining volunteer content provider in game has a horrible attitude and has created a toxic community of sychophants that he plays with in another game. These people have run off everyone else. Biased and unbalanced content and adminstration geared toward his clique. Avoid this game it is dead.

Honestly Im downloading the game now as we type this, but Im so happy to be able to play even a fraction of what this game used to be. Its been almost 20 years since we last played this on our Gateway computer over our AOL dial-up connection when we were a young teenager. We couldnt wait to get home from school and grind in this MMORPG so many good memories, and over the years we would look back hoping it was back. Im so happy to see that Rhialto fought to bring this game back. We cant wait to log in now.

We are really curious about this game and started playing a week ago. The sign in doesnt give the option of using a wyvern sign in anymore. Have we lost our character?

We tried to seek friends in what we thought was the most fun and entertaining family-friendly game. People started to treat us like we were fun. But after a while they ignored us. We were really feeling like we found an actual family friendly game at the start. And like we said we were starting to feel like we were ignored for more than being annoying. If you are a player who like us who just loves making and tends to talk like an hour a minute cuz you feel welcomed. We would not suggest this game. But if you do love a game that supports the majority and the very few who trie their very best to fit in we would suggest this game.

Like us, if that’s what u’ve been looking for look no further, u just found Wyvern. All the elements u would expect and we’re hoping for. The world is constantly moving and taking action, not turn based, something that’s new to us and increases the challenge. Plus it’s also online with a great community. Get it!

We love games like this. Simple, with a lot of depth. One thing we think that needs to be fixed is when you turn the game landscape the text box should become smaller or moved to the bottom of the screen. The whole reason you turn a phone sideways to play a game is to relieve the stress on your hand as well as to increase the space of the play screen so that you can control the game more easily. With the text box moving to the side and not decreasing in size or moving to accommodate the gesture it makes turning the phone landscape pointless and terribly irritating as well. We would also like it to be more clear where our stats are located and the abilities we’ve invested in are. It would be cool to see the starting stats of each avatar although leaving it a mystery has its own benefits. Never the less it would be nice if the UI for stats spells and abilities were clearer. We would recommend text boxes for the dialogue instead of having it all show up in this blocky text window at the bottom of the screen that way players have the option of removing that clunky thing altogether.

It says follow the tutorial, we try and follow it, but cant figure out what to do, thus we are stuck. Thats it, wasted enough time on this ridiculous game. If you are going to force someone to do a tutorial have it automated, swear, this must be one of the most stupid systems we have ever dealt with, and we have dealt with a lot.

No updates, no servers, no game. Unfortunately the game or app is dead. Best just move along now.

Youre no peer of ours if you quit closing our socket. Looks like a good game, sadly am unable to play so you get a one star. Would love a fix to this error so we could attempt to play and change our rating, but would not recommend currently until then.

We dont know what sadists thought this quest was a good idea as an easy quest for new players but it is absurd. The game puts you into a side scroller type platforming level with no explanation except not to touch the small cogs or start over. For a game with 1980 graphics and abysmal controls on a touch screen phone this has translated beyond poorly and in our opinion is a major blunder for a game Im really trying to like. Heck even people in the chat were saying just to not do the quest, its not worth it, too hard, annoying, etc. Really seems like it should be tweaked or moved from the easy quests area. We love the old style and all the races with their different perks but the nonsense attempt at side scroller platforming and overly ghetto way of buying and even checking the stats on items is absolutely ruining any joy or nostalgia. How is there not a standard menu for things? This game could be a smash hit if they would just update little things. Instead its painful to do almost everything.

Well. Im rating a 1 star since it wont allow us to connect to the servers.

A fantastic MUD with an awesome community behind it. Cant recommend this enough.

This is a graphical MUD, a fairly old style of RPG that really gets the D&D feeling right. If youre a fan of Ultima Online or even Runescape youll probably fit in nicely and enjoy yourself. Even if youre not looking for an MMORPG, this is still a fairly great game to just wander around in. There are no pay to win aspects, no obtuse ads or other nonsense either, which is an absolute rarity in this day and age. The devs are also relatively active in game. The population does seem a tad low, but thats honestly just fine, as so much of the game shines alone or with friends.

This game is incredibly and enjoyably addicting, offering plenty of content and challenging gameplay. The community is amazing, and adds to the charm of the game (of which there is a lot).

Pretty fun retro game with lots of depth.

It will be like a retro Skyrim single player game that would be a really cool idea for a game like this it would be unique by its style as well get a hold of us if you like the idea we would love to hear what you think.

This game is literally everything we look for in an rpg. Huge, fun, have to grind a bit for xp and gold, and complex. Steep learning curve, but totally worth it. 10/10 would suggest playing it.

There isnt a good way to describe this game that will give it the recognition it deserves. We have been a fan of MMOs for years, playing WoW, FFXIV, and various mobile MMOs… This one is our new favorite. The learning curve is relatively steep, and we recommend using the games wiki for help at the start, but boy is it worth getting over that curve. The community is awesome and helpful, there is so much to do and discover, and the game is just a joy to play. The purchasable in game currency is really just for extra stuff that makes the game easier on the player, but overall doesnt feel necessary to buy (although we might end up buying some to support the creator, Rhialto, who is very active in the community and is a pleasure to talk to). Dont let the graphics turn you away, this is THE BEST MMO on mobile, and is such a unique experience unmatched by any other. If you need help, ask in the in game chat or consult the wiki. Be patient, and you will get sucked in, we promise.

This is a Old school RPG with content created by the fans, huge map many places to explore countless quests aswell as many skills and guilds/classes and races to explore! Has a fantastic community of dedicated fans that love to help new players! Highly recommend!

Game isnt iPhone X compatible we had to keep rotating the device to even try the tutorial… Please correct.

Pretty solid game w/ nostalgic graphics and in depth systems, BUT WHY DO we HAVE TO TAKE 3 HOURS OF MY TIME TO COME UP OF A NAME!? Please for the love of GOD have less strict naming standards. Thank you.

And of course it doesnt work. Instant delete. Dont bother with this.

We get as far as naming our character, and then it just takes us out and wont let us continue (the process repeats all over again). Rating would probably be higher, but it wont work for us at all.

Register button does not work for creating an account, thus cannot login and play. Keyboard will not close after typing and switching from portrait to landscape view cancels the current screen and goes back. Way too many issues within first 5 minutes of trying to play. Could not even get in to play.

Error indicating socket closed with peer – using iPad Pro. Able to create and name a character, using Google to sign in but unable to get past this. Cannot play but would like to.

This game looked like it had a lot of potential, but when we made our character it told us that the socket was closed by a peer. We’ve tried making multiple characters, and it gives us the same error every time. We would love to play this game, but we cant. Please fix this issue.

Every time we try to start a game, we get the socket closed by remote peer message. So far we’ve created our character. What fun…

We’ve played a lot of games looking for a good dungeon crawler, and to find one this well made thats also an mmo? We are in love.

Wonderful gameplay perfectly nostalgic of classic rogue like RPGs, blends the elements of questing, dungeoneering, magic, and learning system perfectly in the palm of your hand. Wonderful game. Its even free! Not buying anything in game does not in any way hinder your abilities or likewise put you at a massive disadvantage. The leveling is fair, the quests are fun, the map is absolutely massive and this is not a pay to win game. The community is also something to behold. A perfect romance of wacky and good humor the people here are a riot. Theres not toxicity and senior game players will almost always take a sec to answer the inquiries of a new player, should, for whatever reason a moderator/admin not be around. Which is rather unlikely. People help people and player killing is limited. No need to run and hide in fear if you see someone else, theyll likely just emote at you and continue on. This is a very good game with a lovely group of people. We highly suggest playing it. You will not be disappointed.

We have been feigning for this game to get a reboot. Started playing this on the pc and it just got discontinued for ages. Glad to see it is alive and kicking. Always tried to follow up every now and then to see the progress of copyright/legal stuffs that was prolonging its come back. Highly recommend!

This is no hack and slash your way through leveling and make millions. Skills take planning. Magic is difficult. Lvl 20s can run lvl 50 areas because of their build. Forget what you know about MMOs and raise your standards. Wyvern is a kickass old school MMO made in 2001 that is back here to stay. You want to make a pixie ninja? Go for it. How bout a shape shifting naga monk? One of the best. Plan out your characters and builds. You can be anything.

Great game lots of fun and addicting and a very helpful community.

We cant believe how amazing this game is….. Its a secret buried treasure. And its free! Best game we’ve seen since CataclysmDDA. We love these types of games, they give us a sense of adventure. Some notes though, offline single player would be great. This game is amazing. Keep at it devs!

We were searching for a game on mobile to scratch an itch for adventure that we had … We didn’t know the rabbit hole was this deep. Wyvern is saturated with places to explore, monsters to kill, loot to find and players to meet. The community is overwhelmingly helpful through everyone’s passion for the game. You can choose you race, your specialization in skills and the paths you take in the world. There is literally too much to do, and that is what makes it stand out from the rest. This game gets, and deserves, 100% of our gaming attention. But to save the best for last, the developer (one man) can often be found in the game talking, helping and showing his love for Wyvern as well. Give it a try and don’t give up, because the challenge is worth the reward.

Come play! There’s so many amazing features in this game that it’s hard to fit it all into a review. Main thing is that the developer is actively updating the game and listening closely to player feedback! There’s lots of monsters, lots of loot, lots of options to make your character unique, and plenty of things to do! It’s a PvE paradise! There are PvP elements but they’re entirely optional and not required for any progression. Go download and try it!

Good old school game with a hard at work dev. Deserving of 5 stars.

We were hunting for a little adventure game to kill some time and stumbled on this gem. It has tap based controls for the basics, but allows for detailed commands to be entered if you tap the prompt. Lots of complexity in the skill, gear, and even race choices. Graphics are simple but well done. There are random dungeons as well as pre-defined quests. There are no paywalls. If you like RPGs with depth, this is a great game for you.

Ahh… Wyvern. What’s not to like? It’s both nostalgic and current. The new version maintains much of the challenge and all of the depth of the original. We will admit we were skeptical, but it translates to the mobile platform surprisingly well. It’s a MUDD…. And a fantastic one. Tons of choices, amazing depth, plenty of room to roam and explore. A word of caution, the learning curve is real – this is a legit game and there’s knowledge and skills to acquire to play it well. The tutorial has improved materially which helps with startup. Also… There really is no better gaming community to be found if you need help.

If you want a game that you can have an adventure with your pals, a random stranger or even yourself; then Wyvern is your game. We’ve found myself on countless occasions building our own story of the game based on the things our character experienced. It has kept us occupied on long nights we couldn’t sleep, feeling the comfort of other adventurers near-constantly on makes you feel like your in a real world; along with the in depth map that’s full of amazing surprises and quests that give breath to plenty non-player characters. This is one of our favorite games; not because of any particular aspect of Wyvern but because of the memories it has given us, cherished memories that are being constantly built with the games availability and development. We encourage anyone to give it a shot!

This is literally the most entertaining game ever! The community is amazing and really helpful. The creator (Rhialto) is really nice. He answers every question you ask him!

Wyvern is a mobile resurrection of a PC-based graphical MUD from more than a decade ago. Even then, it had its eye on the mobile market, running on the Sharp Zaurus 5500 and Compaq iPAQ PocketPC. We had a lot of fun playing it 15 years ago and we find that we have just as much fun playing it on the mobile platform today. The game has a lot of depth and is gratifyingly old-school. It features multiple races, skills, classes, and specializations, the combination of which leads to endless adventuring and experimentation. If you download this app, you will find yourself spending increasingly more time playing the game as you immerse yourself in the world of Wyvern.

Played this game years and years and years ago, have since played the Alpha and the Beta and we’re happy to say this game is BACK in full swing. Tough learning curve but definitely worth sinking your time into!
