Community Insight:
Amazing game, would love controller support.
Great remake, needs backbone support.
This game is amazing. We really enjoy the art style of the game. Its very challenging and difficult to control, but its really easy once you get used to it. However, the audio is a big issue. Some sounds are normal, while others are very low pitched making Lester himself sound like an alien himself lol. But other than that its a great game to play.
The goods are that its the original game, thats about it. The UI is clunky, no controller support. Terrible touch controls. We could do better than this in 24 hours and we barely know python. We do not recommend this. Go buy a raspberry pi and run it using retropie.
Brought us right back to the wonder years.
We loved this game when we first played it on the Super Nintendo back in the 90s and completely enjoyed it again on our iPhone 6. This is a great upgrade to an already stellar game. If there is a downside, the controls are a little challenging to used to. There seem to be certain parts of the game where the D- pad is required. Admittedly the game is also a little short, but then again the game also has a relatively small price tag. Overall great replay value and very much worth the money spent.
Ive first played this game on an old PC in the early nineties. It was in French and we knew it by its original title Another World. When it was released in the US, it was called Out of this World. This game is an instant classic. Im was written, coded and developed by one man. The story is simple and short. Theres only about 10 levels. The controls on the phone are a little difficult, but all you have to remember is the four directions, shoot, and jump. This game is one of the best there has ever been. Be sure to check it out on Steam for the PC, too.
Needs controller support, feels abandoned.
Great game but the lack of control options is just sad.
We really like the graphics and was exciting about playing it but the controls are really bad. We tried over and over but the lag was just too bad and we gave up. Fix the controls and Ill try again.
Couldnt finish the game because there is a glitch in the palace. Please fix.
Does not run ok on latest iOS and iPhone. Why is this app still available to purchase? @apple please refund.
So we recently purchased an iPhone 5s and an iPad air 2 and discovered that this game on both has a sound issue. When we play it on our iPod 4g there is no issue but on the other two devices certain sounds are played slower than they should be, thus making them sound like slow motion. For instance the beast in the beginning, after he chases you to the vine his growl is slowed down and deeply guttural, and then when you are in the cage, the guard starts shooting up and his voice is off, slowed down, as well as what your partner says when he taps you on the shoulder immediately after breaking free. His voice is not the same at all and he doesnt even finish saying what hes supposed to say because its so slowed down. The laser shots are completely off, especially the super shot. Essentially the sound is really screwed up. We saved version 1.2 and when we play that on our iPod 4g no sound issue, but no matter what version we play now on our iPhone 5s or iPad 2 the sound is completely screwed up. Really love this game and hope to have the issue resolved soon. Other than that it is a great game.
Controls wont position correctly but stay at the top when resetting them.
This game is hard to control, tedious and plan boring. The Story itself is great just not the part you control. We would love our money back.
Hey gang, please get an update going for this game for us when you have some time! Many of your other retro titles are playable on iOS 11, we feel this is your best and its totally shut down now. Please give those of us on 11 one more update on it so we can play and enjoy it again.
Better than we remembered it on Sega CD. Great play through for nostalgic re-visitors or first time retro enthusiasts. The game design, graphics, atmosphere, and story are phenomenal.
We remember this game out of this world from snes.
Generally we hate 2d sidescrollers without controller support but they got he controls right in this one. And it looks much better than the original. Played it start to finish fun the whole way. But it.
Please make part 2 "Heart of the Alien" or the classic game Flashback.
We played this game extensively years ago. The controls were tricky at first but it didnt take long to get used to them. Great adaptation to iOS in our opinion. The graphics seem uniquely fit to an iPhone game. Very fun to play.
We ended the game in half hour!!! Make like a chapter 2 make it like remember the part when the guy that u use broke his legs make a chapeter 2 that like he cuts his legs and he created a mechanical legs ADD MORE WEAPONS add difrent clothes and that the guy that u use find in the planet that he goes with the dragon that he meets a girl and they married and have a son or a daughter create a chapter 2 like that or create the chapter 2 however you want JUST CREATE A CHAPTER 2! AND THAT IS LONGER!!!!!!!!!!! Plz.
Had never played this before but really enjoyed it. Great concept–avoid dying by taking the proper actions. Fyi, if you're going through a lot of steps and it's not saving, it's because you're not doing the next proper step. So try something else. Enjoy.
One of our favorite games brought back to life in a much better way —please please please make a part 2 , a sequel for this game.
We had heard about this game from WatchMojo ( thx mojo we love you!) and when we got a we tunes card we had bought it and just… WOW!! Yes it took lots of try's but that's the point (cough cough Pokemongo! Cough) we will DEFINITLY have a story to tell our grandchildren now :D thx.
True the original with updated graphics (not in a bad way). Reminded us how difficult old school games were! Well worth the money.
We got our hands on this game after playing through Sword & Sworcery EP. This is a must-play if you like that game.
This app is amazing. It brings back so many memories from childhood (played as Out of This World). The controls are just as easy (and difficult) as it was when we first played it. We spent 2 hours with the app the first night we bought it. Best money we have spent on a game in a LONG time. Kudos go to the developers.
This was one of the first games on a PC that hooked us completely. We wanted to find out what would happen next and get through the entire game. The iPad version is also good and, like the original PC version, requires precise timing and quick reflexes. This game is from the golden era of PC gaming and was unique for its time. It is still fun and playable.
This game is just as we remember it. The mood is just as we remember it and the graphics are great. A must-have for retro gamers and anyone who appreciates real gaming art.
Controls work fine, people are impatient and haven't played the original. This game is everything we remember it was, but now it has a shiny new facelift…. Not a complete remake, but a nice gloss to it. Nice work. Hope Flashback is in the works for iOS, not just consoles.
Been searching for this game since a friend had it when we were a kid—-great play controls on the iPhone as well.
Controls are great despite what others say. Addicting gameplay, really enjoy it on hardcore.
A great game. We've been playing Another World since it came out on PC and it never gets old. We love the simplicity and now the updated graphics as well as the fact you can switch between the two.
This game is not only more entertaining than 95 percent of games out 2day, but more fascinating than 99.9 percent of movies out 2day! And yes we want FLASHBACK!PLEASE?! Anybody who complains about the game has zero sophistication in gaming and is around 13 years old and would never be able to understand such a game. Go and download some ZOMBIE game. Sorry, that this game makes you think a little. Sheesh.
We get so nostalgic playing. Mainly cause it brings us back to the impatient frenzy of haphazard fun we get into. Just please make flashback so we can feel complete. Thank you.
If your into retro games this is a must makes you think & gives you a challenge . Not a long gameplay but really fun 5 stars.
Ran across this game on the App Store and remembered playing it on the SNES as a kid. It was incredibly hard back then but we loved the design and story. Seemed ahead of its time. Since we never got far, we figured why not try it again. The controls are bad but we remembered the SNES controls being really hard as well. We used the d-pad config to play and got used to it. We remember the sound being much better in the SNES but we guess it is good enough. Overall, it was a fun game and this time we beat it. Some of the scenarios are not intuitive so you will probably need to get help for them or play the same thing a 100 times to figure it out. It turned out to be a . Games were much harder back then because you had to do the same thing over and over until you got it exactly right and that's how this game is. We gave this 4 stars because it's a good homage to the original but took away a star because of sound and controls.
32-Bit App Alert, Warns Older Apps May Slow iPhone Getting alerts like crazy. This is not cool. Why did Apple let us buy an app, with no warning, and then flash us a warning while we are running the app, stating that it's bad for our brand new iPhone? Why not just remove it if it's actually slowing down our system? We understand enough about architecture to see how the statement is true, but this just pisses us off. This just leaves us worrying about the health of our devices, and developers and users alike will be angry. We get what Apple is trying to do, but scare tactics will just drive people away from the platform. If the apps really do noticeably slow down Apple devices, then why the hell are they being sold on the App Store with no warning.
El juego es una pasada, mejorado del original, pero falta el soporte MFI,no entiendo que se le de soporte a ICADE y al mando oficial MFI de Apple no.
Seriously guys you make a wonderful port of a great classic game. Although we don't think it would be unreasonable that you included the follow up, heart of the alien with it But you left out one critical classic element There is not one drop of the original in game music in this sport You guys really need to add that or you are depriving people of the experience of a classic game. And would it really be so hard to also port heart of the alien with this package? It is an anniversary edition after all, where are the special features? Where is the awesomeness worthy of calling it an anniversary edition.
We really love this! We were so excited when we found this, we could not believe this game got a remake. This has been one of our favorite SNES games ever since we were little, we love the new graphics and the added sound effects, but our only complaint is, where is the background music? Why wasn't that kept in? If that had been left in the game, we'd give 5 stars. Other than that, we really have no other complaints.
Definitely glad to experience the game. It would have 5 stars but the controls don't always respond which can be frustrating.. We did find it helpful to change it to touchpad in settings. If you can get this game for 99 cents then grab it.
Crap controls. Go get the devs from League of Evil to rework the controls or something.
Great game thanks for fixing bug. Wish it had the original creepy background music. Other than that no complaints.
We are still intrigued by the concept of this game, but the default swipe touch screen controls are terrible. They're way bad. We finally switched to the control pad, and that was a little easier, but still, we usually felt like there was a disconnect between what we were trying to make our character do and what he was doing. In a game that basically requires you to die over and over to figure out the right thing to do, this became extremely frustrating. We stuck it out, and we're glad we did because we never played it on the PC, but we would not recommend this game. Not at full price, anyway.
Would be a nice port of a classic game, but the controls might be the worst we've ever used. What a waste.
The touchscreen controls must be fixed. Update the app with a control fix. The touchscreen controls do not work in any sort of acceptably playable manner. Maybe the devs need to make onscreen buttons not an option but the only choice. We're not sure. Either that or make the touchscreen controls more obvious and user friendly. There's no reason for the character to turn around half the time, yet it will turn backward wth no warning. BUT if you choose buttons for control, it's pretty close to the original. The look and feel of the app really are true to the original game. The buttons took about a half an hour to get used to them. Once we got used to it, we found that most of the old twists and turns from the game came back to us like riding a bicycle. It was quite a joy to play through the ale again after so many years. Bravo to the team behind the translation to newer formats. Really well done. Just fix those darned touchscreen controls! :P.
The rush of nostalgia we had when we learned of this re-release was enough to make us purchase it immediately. Right away we noticed the controls were far less responsive than the already clunky original but we wasn't completely discouraged. It doesn't take too long for things start to get more challenging then you realize more and more that this is definitely "not" how it use to be or should be. Lester even just barely jumps and certainly not on time like the original(which is crucial) Im sure the developers take pride in their excellent visuals and sound design but with a control system this horrible they've managed to make and already tricky game 1000 times more frustrating. PS – we want to break our iPhone in half now..thanks. All in all the the graphic work and ambiance are incredible, but you'll more than likely never get to see it all of it(or your money's worth) by sheer flaw in design.
