Community Insight:
Overall, we very much enjoyed playing all three installments of this game. The puzzles were fairly straightforward but engaging, the visuals were good, and the storyline was interesting. Each chapter of the Eventide series was a little shorter than we would prefer, but otherwise, we felt that they were worth the cost. However *SPOILERS AHEAD**…… The ending of this game nearly ruined the whole thing for us. All of the Eventide games are played with a female protagonist, and both Eventide 1 and 2 contain strong female characters. In this chapter, you again play as Mary, an intelligent, graduate-educated botanist who visits her brother to plant a threatened magical plant species. Of note, Mary spent Eventide 1 and 2 learning about, protecting and embracing her magical heritage. In Eventide 3, Marys brother, John, is introduced and spends the first 90% of the game denying the existence of magic and relying on Mary to save him from the magical villain. Marys character rescues her brother, finds magical artifacts, cooperates with magical beings, saves Johns life and then defends him against the villain with a magical scepter. At the very last moment, John accepts that magic exists and then seemingly just knows how to use his powers, which he does to strike the final killing blow to the villain. This is where things went wrong for us. The native magical beings declare that whoever kills the ruler becomes king we.e. John. The player is then directed to give the magical scepter (which you tracked down, liberated and fought with) to John (who you just saved and who denied the existence of magic until 5 seconds ago) so that he can become king. SERIOUSLY?? The game ends with you returning to Earth and your new-magical-convert brother flying over a rainbow on a creature (whom you also rescued) to Happily Ever After. Talk about an anti-feminist, colonial fairytale. Suggested edits: Why cant Mary be queen? Even better, maybe the Clouders can rule themselves.
We do wish we could play this game. We downloaded Eventide 3 as well, and that kept crashing too every time we tried to play. So disappointed.
There should have been a bonus round to show them hitting challenges going back home.
This is our favorite Eventide game … Even though John (the brother) got irritating a few times. The only thing wrong was that it doesnt have a bonus game…and we wasnt ready to stop playing.
Game was fun. Just like every other game like this. Hops were okay. For $699 just not enough and no bonus game. We love Artifex Mundi but they are getting more expensive and shorter each new game.
Loved this game! Finished the first two games in this series. Would love to see more sequels of this series. No time penalties on HOS. Can skip mini-games without a penalty. Beautiful graphics. Awesome storyline.
Good story, interesting characters. Puzzles are fairly easy. Hos are varied, with mainly list type and some FROGs. Medium length, no bonus adventure. Love the Slavic lore.
Love this game great graphics, awesome story line, plenty to do. Our only complaint is artifex mundi takes so long to release these new great games on iPad Im hooked on their games but have bought an played everyone that has been available on our iPad :( we check the App Store everyday hoping for something new released an never anything for long periods PLZ PLZ ARTIFEX MUNDI START RELEASING YOUR AMAZING GAMES FOR iPAD (iOS) ALOT SOONER AN MORE FREQUENTLY PLZ FOR ALL US iPAD users Thank u.
Fun game play. Game has all the features we players request. Recommend this one.
5 Stars: beautiful graphics, customized refresh rates 10 seconds, many puzzles and games, long-playing, objects to collect. No bonus game. We hate snakes.
So excited when artifex mundi releases a new game, and so sad when its over. Wish they could give us one every week! Beautiful visuals, relaxing game play. Not too hard. Great mix of HO and mini-games. Back to Big Fish, sigh.
Enjoyed this latest installment in the series, however we have enjoyed some of the previous ones better. Graphics were gorgeous, hidden object scenes were fun & interactive. Character voice overs, teleporting map with collectibles. For us, we had a hard time getting excited and into the storyline. Still this game is worth playing – just not the wow factor from the previous games. We also felt that the game went by rather quickly. No doubt about it this developer has a lot of creativity & puts a lot of detail and time into making their games. Very imaginative! Pick it up on sale & enjoy! P.S. We do hope that this developer will release games more frequently and not make us wait so long for ipad. KdBoots.
Then this is your game. Lovely old fashioned crowded searches, and lots of them. Very nice graphics. When you turn the voices off – they are all silenced. We don't play games that don't do this anymore. The mini games are not so good. With one exception they are way too easy. The story's environmental message is as subtle as an earthquake, and it has our heroine being stupid ( she's a folklorist, and the fact that the king can't stand strong light doesn't set off alarm bells? Really?) Still it's fun to play, has collectibles. Try the demo which is quite long and gives a good idea of what the game is like.
Journey to a spellbinding world where magical creatures, ancient mythology, and conflicts between forces all play a big part in shaping society! You will visit extraordinary places–courtesy of a flying giant owl–with altering landscapes, such as those dotted with utopian-like floating islands. This developer is adept at creating series that are special and distinct from one another. They shine at delivering a flavorful combination of catchy story lines, entertaining gameplay, and mesmerizing artwork–this game is no exception. The characters/creatures you encounter throughout your adventure are diversified in their appearances–some of them being much cuter than others. In their own distinct way, they will contribute toward helping you meet your goals. The illustrations are delicately and exquisitely hand-drawn to showcase this developer's prowess in producing superior craftsmanship. The coloration exhibits a light and lively ambiance, which is a refreshing change from the commonplace darker background, as seen in most HOAs. Make sure you poke around within the close-ups to interact with the immersive animations, such as pressing the buttons on an old device to light up the colored bulbs. You can customize your settings. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. In custom mode, the teleport map facilitates brisk travel to labeled locations and indicates available actions. However, the maps in this series have a snag–this one as well. The map seems to show our current location as being connected to one general area that encompasses several locations. If we move to an adjacent location within the same area, the picture of the indicated location does not change. Consequently, you need to figure out which locations have something to do. Although it is becoming more exercised, we do not see many developers, with the exception of maybe two others, implementing the creative technique of manipulating objects by turning them around to interact with all of their sides. This developer livens up this facet of gameplay by including puzzle-like elements. Transition between scenes is smooth and quick; no glitches. The varied HOSs are artistically impressive, using items relevant to the storyline. We have seen these types before, but the executions of such are clever and imaginative. The puzzles are simple, but they are still entertaining. Some are multi-leveled in structure; we always loved the one in which you connect the wheels of the same color. You will discover several sets of collectibles, including in the close-ups. You really need to tap everywhere! Overall gameplay is typical of this developer: very casual, offering light challenge to a player. We prefer more cerebrally stimulating puzzles; however, as usual, this developer has a knack of making us forget about any reservations that we may have. One small quibble is that we found the repetition of dialogue to be irksome, and this occurred every time we tapped on the same area. We have to admit that even though we did enjoy this game, we felt that the theme of Slavic folklore was more integrated into the storyline in this game's predecessors. The first two games were appropriately embellished with artifacts and trinkets relative to Slavic tradition, especially the original game. Finally, there's no bonus chapter, so $2.99 is a fair price for the amount of playtime. We do, however, recommend playing this game.
Not a particularly long or special game. No issues either though, and we did like the minigames.
The storyline and graphics are great. Really enjoyed the combination of mini games and storyline but overall very disappointed that we were able to finish the entire game in 24 hours. The game also presents itself as free but actually costs $2.99, which we did pay because the demo was convincing. Definitely a tease and now we have to delete the app because theres nothing else to do.
