Description

Relive the excitement of Final Fantasy Adventure―a timeless classic remastered for a new generation.

■STORY
Enshrined atop Mt. Illusia, high above the lofty clouds, stands the Tree of Mana. Drawing its life energy from the boundless celestial aether, the sentinel grows in silence. Legend holds that he who lays his hands upon its trunk will be granted power eternal―a power the Dark Lord of Glaive now seeks to further fuel his bloody quest for domination.

Our unlikely hero is one of countless gladiators indentured to the Duchy of Glaive. Each day, he and his ill-fated companions are dragged from their cells and bade to fight exotic beasts for the amusement of the Dark Lord. If victorious, they are thrown back into the dungeons with just enough bread to tide them over until their next match. But a body can only take so much, and it is never long before the weary captives succumb to their cruel fates.

■SYSTEM
Adventures of Mana’s battle system grants you the freedom to move about the playing field without restriction, allowing for thrilling combat in which you decide when to attack and how to evade.

・Controls
Player movement is achieved via a virtual joystick accessible anywhere on the screen. An auto-adjust feature has also been added so that even if your thumb strays from its original position, you will never lose control of the hero.

・Weapons
Weapons are divided into six unique categories, some with uses beyond merely dealing damage. Determining when and where to equip each kind will prove the key to success on your quest.

・Magic
From restoring lost HP or removing various ailments, to rendering foes incapacitated or dealing deadly blows, there are eight different spells for almost any occasion.

・Obstacles
Bloodthirsty enemies are not the only things standing in the way of completing your quest. You will need both tools and your wits to overcome the many challenges encountered in the world of Mana, ranging from locked doors to hidden rooms to traps growing progressively more complex as the game progresses.

Fixed minor bugs.

Adventures of Mana Reviews

This game is an amazing remake of the original gameboy version. Great music and a simple but good story with unique areas and bosses to fight. In typical SquareSoft fashion, the updates often take a year or more to show up, but thankfully the most recent update fixed all the issues this game was having.

Thank you so much for the fix, but there is still just one problem. In Cloud Save/Load menu, Latest Save’s MP is copying HP’s number and Quicksave’s GP is copying Lv’s number. Therefore, Latest Save’s MP should not be copying HP’s number nor should Quicksave’s GP be copying Lv’s number.

This game is not worth the high price. As we understand it, it is a remake of an old GameBoy game. The updated 3D graphics make the scenes look devoid of life, the controls are encumbering, and the plot is ham fisted. Everything looks the same. The monsters are boring.

Listen, we buy all the Square Enix games, every single Final Fantasy and these action RPGs as well. But this game has a GAME ENDING GLITCH that occurs once you defeat Ifrit about halfway through the game! You get stuck outside of the dungeon without your Chocobo travel back over water and continue the story. Its a shame, because its a really fun game up until that point. We wont be asking for a refund because we like to support SE and hope they bring more games into the App Store, but please fix these type of things before releasing them. BUYER BEWARE!

This game is great. For a simple adventure game this is really fun. The puzzles are mildly hard, which made it fun. Worth the money!

This is a really cool game, but when we try to load our game from opening screen, it always freezes on us. More times than not. For that, we give it 4 stars.

It’s been two years since the last good upgrade. Seems to be an issue with migrating from a 2018 device to what is now a 2020 device. Given the wider screen of the base iPad (now 10"), much text is now off-center. And we can’t select a save file after having pulled over the data from our prior device. Is there a fix? For now, good game, but bad bugs knock off a star. Get it fixed ASAP.

This game could probably use an optimization update. It’s been over 2 years since the last update and in Apple’s app store time, that’s like 2 decades. Still love the game but Don’t Let It Rot Away!!!

Freezes, crashes. Good game though, we want to play it through.

Whenever we try and load from a save or anything like that the game freezes. Ill leave it loading for several minutes but nothing happens. Sometimes it will actually load a save file and then we can play.

Just got this game – after our first save, trying to load the game or continue takes us to a white loading screen and the music plays. Even closing the app the music still plays. Making sure the app is truly closed by swiping it up, the music still plays. Only way to stop the music is to turn our phone off. Cant continue any save and we have to shut our phone off each time just to stop the music? Please fix this.

We havent been able to get back in. This game hangs on the loading screen. Its white with a loading bar and it never loads we close the app completely and retry and nothing. Our phone is brand new and we have internet connection. Our phone is iPhone 11 Pro Max .

Great thought of a Mana game, but needs a fix .. It keeps Freezing on us.

We’ve tried on both an iPhone 11 and iPad Air (3rd Gen), and a new game wont start past the Now Loading screen.

AoM is an amazing game. Since changing to an iPhone 12 and can no longer play. It gets stuck on the loading screen when attempting to play. Please update the game for compatibility!

Extremely buggy, and when it crashes, the game can never be launched again without deleting and reinstalling the game. Love this game, and will change our rating once the bugs are FIXED. Now its to the point where it doesnt matter what you do, if you try to save and load, your save file is dead, and you have to completely uninstall and reinstall the game PLEASE FIX ASAP!

We used to play AoM when it first came out but we never beat it. We downloaded it today after updating to iOS 15, and after we start a new game and name the characters, it goes to the Loading screen then crashes.

One thing we were worried about were the controls and the first thing we noticed was that the controls controlled perfectly! Good graphics and fun game. They nailed it with this one!! If your lookin for a solid game to play here on iOS play this one it’s far from disappointing.

Please make a Chrono Trigger remake with this much quality! This is a beautiful remake of the old Gameboy game Final Fantasy Adventure (in the U.S.). It doesn’t hold your hand like today’s RPGs and it doesn’t offer a way to pay for any info or upgrades. This is what video games should be: Pure and simple fun, with tight controls, fun gameplay, convenient saving anywhere, and a true sense of adventure. We’re 36 now, but this game makes us feel like a 10 year-old all over again. Five stars. THIS is what we want from Square-Enix. Sure wish more people would agree so we could see more games like this and less time-wasting, fleeting F2P "games."

We loved this game back in the day. We found it on the App Store awhile back and have replayed it every few months or so. It is still continuously supported which is awesome. We really wish they would do a completely original sequel to this with these graphical updates.

The game excelled in soundtrack, plot, game mechanics and adorable cgi.

Beautiful remake. It brought 3D and expanded mechanics without ruining the original concept. Score by Kenji Ito is a joy to hear.

Incredible, we played the original on game boy. This remaster kept everything and made it better. They simply made the game 3D but everything else is the same. It’s a rare gem and a must play game.

This game definitely worths the price. It has a stunning graphic with a good storyline. There is no bug or glitch in this game. If you are looking for an action RPG for your mobile device, we highly recommend this game. You won’t regret.

This is how a mobile game should be made! The game runs so smooth and the animations are the best we have ever seen on a mobile phone! The charcters seem to move at 60 frames per second and our iphone 6 plus doest not even get hot! We love it! 5 Stars all the way.

Super cute and went perfectly with a bowl of honey nut feelios. Legend of Mana should be next on the remake list!!!

Ignore the haters of the game! Graphics are fresh and sweet! Theres a music note button which can change music back to the various FFA GB soundtrack songs featured throughout the game! Monsters give a dying roar and other effects when you beat bosses and there are other cool sounds when you defeat a frienemy (minor spoiler). Yeah the slightly top down 360 movement is there like the ol one however the will power gauge on bottom of screen recharges faster than the gameboy game! Explosive visuals and the other positive aspects we mentioned make this game worth buying. Dont pass this up!

Before you buy this game. Be aware that the maps are redundant and confusing. The music is extremely redundant and just blah. The story is somewhere in there… And you will need to follow a walk through on YouTube before you can get any type of satisfaction from this game.

Make sure you have enough keys… You can get trapped in the dungeons.

It’s too uncomfortable, and it’s not smooth play. It’s a waste if you charge customers $9.99, it should be under $3.99 if you choose this type of viewing quality. There is no way for us to ask for a refund, since we bought the game and played it for 20 mins. We are not convinced that it is a worthy RPG pay once and play game.

This is just a port of a PSP graphic update to a beloved game boy game that has aged very very poorly. While the polygonal 3-D graphics are snazzy, and the music as awesome as ever, the gameplay and storyline of this game were really never very engaging….. Or fun to begin with. Control wise, if you have an MFI controller, then it plays perfectly but who cares when youll be endlessly grinding against flat uninteresting monsters in order to accomplish forgettable fetch quests thrown at you by cardboard characters in a mellow dramatic, convoluted story so contrived and so ham fisted that it makes daytime soap operas feel like Shakespeare by comparison? The game is riddled with game ending, unsolvable puzzles that involve doing asinine, ridiculously cryptic tasks like: walking around two trees in a the shape of a figure 8 until a secret door opens….. At some random, undisclosed place in the monotonous, one dimensional woods, that look like all the other woods. Without a walkthrough the game is virtually unbeatable. With the look and sound being as good as it is, if this game were a completely reimagined (True Remake) of Final Fantasy Adventure then we think they could justify the relatively steep price…. But as it is? This game is just not worth the money or the time. The original was considered good in its time, for a game boy game (that people couldnt beat even back then) but by todays standards your better off playing so many other games.

Game suffered from redundancy and poorly designed maps.

We think we got Final Fantasy Adventure in 1992. We would stay up under our blanket playing it with a flashlight. This remake really touches the child in us and we are truly thankful for it. It is the same game through and through.

Highly recommend if you are a fan of the original FFA on Gameboy or if you’ve never even played it before. Beautiful story, graphics, music, and excellent gameplay.

This is a fun game with hours of game play. We’ve played 12 hours so far just to get to the end and not have enough keys. So now we’re stuck, in the last dungeon, and we can’t even go back to get more keys. At first we thought it was worth every cent but now we think it was a waste of our money.

This game is really boring and the controls are clumsy. Also there’s no mission indicators so you spend a lot of time wandering around aimlessly.

We just finished this game for our 3rd time and we have to say that it is still a fantastic game. The story of this game is very enjoyable and we personally get hooked every time we play this. The price tag on this game is seriously worth your time. Our first play-through took about 9 hours to complete, the other 2 times being around 7 or so hours. The best partnabout this game is that you can play the game completely different every time. The stat distribution after each level-up brings some interesting playstyles to the table. Although we see people complaining about the use of consumables, how you need a lot, we dont really think that is the case. Just stock up on 2 stacks of keys and mattocks every time you start a dungeon, and if you run out, monsters have a chance to drop the items you need. When you get the morning star, you dont even need mattocks anymore sonce it can destroy rocks as well. We really wish that we could give a huge in-depth analysis on the game but you probably dont want to read all of that. Our last bit of advice is that: THIS GAME IS WORTH THE MONEY. And stock up before you go into a dungeon :P Have fun with this fantastic game.

FFA was, in our opinion the greatest Gameboy game of all time. It was the game that introduced us to adventure games and eventually RPGs. Seeing a 3D remake that looks to keep it’s simplicity is both exciting and refreshing!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you SE for giving us older nostalgia nuts such quality content! We bought this within seconds of seeing it on the app store, and we DO NOT regret the impulse.

Excellent we usually download an app and get bored with it in 30 minutes. We’re 8 plus hours in ( not in one sitting)and still going strong. Please Apple TV this.

We first saw this game on the newest apps section on the home page. We saw the title and thought that it was some crappy fan game. We saw the Square-Enix brand on it and we were interested. We quickly learned that it was a remake of Final Fantasy Adventure for the game boy, the first game in the mana series. We wanted to try the series for a while, so we decided to get it, and we were not disappointed. No doubt about it, this is one of the best action RPG we’ve ever played. The graphics and over all presentation are amazing for iOS,not to mention the awesome soundtrack. The story isn’t the greatest, but it makes up for it in the gameplay. You go on an adventure fighting monsters going through dungeons and finding treasure. It’s simple, but fun. When you beat enough monsters, you get a level up and your stats grow like any RPG,but when you level up, you can chose what stat to give a bigger increase. This allows you many ways to customize your character. Our favorite thing about the game are its intense boss battles. They are so satisfying to bring them down. Overall, this game is awesome, and we encourage anyone to play it.

This is a really great game, possibly the best game remake we’ve ever seen. The controls are perfect, the graphics are quite decent, and the game is just plain fun. We just finished the game and it took us about 9 hours, which is decent for a mobile game. Any longer and we might have lost interest before finishing, which happens with a lot of games.

We don’t know if it’s just us, but we leveled up pretty fast throughout the game and each boss was very easy to defeat. We beat each boss in less than a minute. The dungeons are the harder parts of the game. Some can get pretty confusing and repetitive. Hint: Always stock up on those keys and hammocks or you might get stuck until monsters drop those in the treasures.

We played Final Fantasy Adventure (in German) in 1991 on our original GameBoy and it quickly became our favorite game. It was Squaresofts answer to Nintendos Zelda. With this update from Square Enix, new gamers can really fall in love with this very clever game. The graphics are beautiful; the gameplay is faithful to the original. We are enjoying it all over again. Now Nintendo: give us the Gamebot Zelda games for our iPhones!! Highly recommended.

Decent paced, good story. For the cost the game is too short. If you level up a bit which is fairly easy to do, the game becomes ridiculously easy. For the amount of item and weapon swapping that is needed the selection screen is inconvenient. If the price drops to $8 or less it’s worth a buy, but not that great of a value at$14. Ignore the person that left a one star review, his complaints are because he’s an idiot. Poison can be cured with antidotes that can be purchased in every town, and he somehow missed the morning star weapon that replaces the need to have mattocks. Kudos to him, though, if he somehow beat the golem with out it.

We loved Final Fantasy Adventure and played through it maybe a dozen times over the years. The material is true to the original with some enhancements. The new shortcut slots are extremely helpful. But the game is simple compared to the original (which wasn’t very hard to begin with). The special attack meter fills extremely quickly, and the whirl attack for all sword weapons is practically invincible. Freedom of movement (not being restricted to 4 basic directions) also makes the game significantly easier. We would love to see an "expert mode" that added a bit more challenge.

We got the game when it was new and played it to death on the original GB. We played the first remake on GBA but never finished it. We like what they have done with this version and how they have stayed 99% faithful to the original and only remade the graphics and music. However, there are two big problems with the game in our opinion. 1) AI: in the original, the screens were cramped and you couldn’t avoid the monsters as easily. Now the screen is open and the mobs are SO dumb they often turn their backs away and wait idly to be slaughtered like pigs. They need to be reprogrammed to at least actively attack. The game is ridiculously easy because of this. 2. Armor and helmets invisible: really? The shields and weapons are visible. Why are armors and helmets invisible? Is it still 1991?

We are very cheap and don’t enjoy most games, so this purchase was a gamble, but this remake of Final Fantasy Adventure is worth it. It’s very similar to the 2D Zeldas, but less challenging. The dungeons can be a little tedious at times, and it is possible to get stuck in dead ends (hint, always have keys and mattocks on hand for all early dungeons) that will make you have to start a new game. The music is great, but there isn’t enough variety. Story is silly anime fare. Combat is kept fresh by a variety of enemies and weapons, although enemy AI is not sophisticated. Otherwise, well paced and lots of fun. It took us about 12 hrs to beat it, having never played the original.

Great game… However needs an update. If you don’t stock up on keys for Kent Manor or temple of mana you will be trapped with no way out. Please fix.

Hints: If you run out of mattocks, green slimes drop them. If you run out of keys, skeletons drop them. If you get poisoned, you can ask the girl companion for help if it’s early, or if not you should’ve reached a shop to buy antidotes; a certain plant drops them too we believe. Review: The graphics are beautiful, the UI solid, and the story and music brought us back to the days of the big gray brick Game Boy. One star off because when you advance to the next square of the map, you are able to move like one second before the mobs spawn in, which means you get to take damage from running into things that weren’t there initially.

We’re stuck can someone help us? We’re at the part where u get your lungs burned.
