What Makes Aurora Hills: Chapter 2 Stand Out

The morning of October 6, 1981, began like any other: waking up from a restless sleep, preparing for the day ahead of you and driving to the ranger station where you've worked for the past 11 years. Aurora Hills was once a tranquil community nestled within the mountains of Appalachia, but a series of disappearances have all but shattered the serene atmosphere. Only a feeling of desolation permeates the surrounding as you drive through the now dilapidated small town.

Jen wasn't at the ranger station when you arrived that morning. Being the only other park ranger, she likes to get an early start to the day and by the time you arrived, she had driven to one of the many closed off hiking trails to start searching for the missing people. Following her trail of notes, you make your way off the main trail to meet up with her to explore the remote parts of the national park. When you find her camp however, your worst fears are realized: The site's been ransacked, her equipment strewn across the campsite, her tent's been torn up, and Jen is nowhere to be seen.

There's no time to turn back now, it's already midday and the sun sets early this time of year. The only thing worse than wandering into the forest alone is braving it at night. You can't abandon Jen now, not when the trail is so fresh. Now you have no choice but to venture deeper into the uncharted parts of the national park, the parts mythologized into local urban legends by frightened townsfolk. You'd better leave soon, you may never get a better chance to uncover the dark history of Aurora Hills…

Developed by the creators of Meridian 157, Aurora Hills: Chapter 2 is the second part in a series of point and click puzzle adventure games. Chapter 3, please !!! Cant wait.

Incredible game, worth every penny.

Chapter one was okay. It was fun. Chapter two was awesome! Cant wait for Chapter three.

Unbelievable quality and the perfect level of difficulty. We played for hours both chapter 1 and 2 and am desperate for more. We would genuinely pay $9.99 for each game instead of $3.99 we think it is absolutely worth it especially since its a game that doesnt force you to pay money inside the game, just a one time purchase and we would pay it for a bunch more to come out.

Own all their games now. Had to use a hint in three places (outhouse, chain link fence code, chicken). We think thats pretty darn good actually. Some real out of the box thinking required. Only hiccup is the back button in the utility shed area actually doesnt take you back to your prior location – it moves you to a new area (as if you stepped backwards, rather than return to previous location). Besides that confusing UX, brilliantly done again. 5/5 – recommend.

Another phenomenal chapter! We love your games, keep up the great work. Hurry up and get ch 3 published.

Imagine if Frictional Games (Penumbra, Amnesia, SOMA) made point and click games. Thats what Novasoft does, and Im 100% here for it. This was an instant purchase. We would easily pay $20 for this.

Graphics and concept are amazing. Wish you added games more frequently. We would buy every one. Definitely worth the purchase.

Ive been waiting for chapter 2 forever, but we were hesitant to pay for this as it seemed a bit pricey. Im happy to say the length and impressive quality of the game made us feel like we got our moneys worth. This might be our favorite of the many escape room style games Ive played. Keep an eye on that creepy dollshe has at least one trick up her sleeve that caught us by surprise. We were hoping there was more to it, but at least it was a cool little secret.

The Stys brothers kill it again. It takes a while for this duo to release their games, since they seem to do it all themselves, but it's well worth the wait. Once again, great puzzles, great maps, great music, great story. Puzzles are challenging but almost always solvable, even if we have to get a clue, then kick ourselves for not having figured it out. Chapter 2 builds more tension on top of Chapter 1, leading to lots of anticipation for Chapter 3! Guys, keep up the great work! Your games are our favorites.

Exceptional, intriguing and breathtaking. Will want to continue and continue.

We just finished chapter 2 . Very good game! Im a senior citizen woman and love this type of game. Now have to wait for chapter 3.

The game has a great storyline and flow. Had to use the magnifying glass on quite a few puzzles because they were too complex. Game was a little too dark, even with full light. Overall, it is still a very good game to play.

We cant wait to play the next chapter. Meridian was awesome and now Aurora Hills is great too.

Another outstanding game from the NovaSoft team. Story, graphics, music and puzzles are all excellent. Challenging but fair puzzles, great atmosphere, exploring the world is fun and interesting. We were thrilled to see they had a new game out and look forward to the next one.

These games just keep getting better & better! Looking forward to chapter 3.

We never write reviews, but had to on this one. Absolutely amazing ride. The visuals are the right level of unsettling, the puzzles are challenging while still being fun. Waiting for part three will be torture. Id 100% par more to have part 3 come out sooner! Great job.

Great continuation story, looking forward to Ch3. How about making a game just from the puzzles? We enjoy the puzzles but have to play the most of the game just to get to some of them. Maybe 4 puzzles for 1.99? Thanks.

We discovered Meridian late, so we were spoiled having the whole game available. Chapter One of Aurora Hills has been sitting, completed, on our iPad and has now been replaced with Chapter Two, also now completed. This is how we remind ourselves we have to get back to Ethan as soon as we can! Loved everything about this; really well done. If you see this, leave a mark. Yes. Yes, we will.

We wasnt expecting how awesome this game turned out to be. We played the first chapter and now on the 2nd. Im going to end up poor cuz we have to play all their hop! We play other developers but this the realness the water flow sounds. Even boiling the kettle other games u just click n boom done. In this game its different. We kinda wish we could just click on a map to get around tho lol. Overall this game rocks! Glad we found you guys! Ty for being so creative and challenging.

Beautifully laid out landscapes and haunting soundtrack makes us want to play for hours. Once we picked it up we couldnt stop. Glad they made the 2nd chapter.

All of the Novasoft games are addicting, hard-to-put-down, challenging, and edge-of-your-seat fun. The hardest part now is waiting for the next one. Well worth the cost.

Worth every penny! Wow what a story and the puzzles are very well done.

Cliff hanger! Great puzzles and beautiful design.

This developer never disappoints. Great game design, beautiful graphics, interesting puzzles, nice hint system. A must buy.

Been waiting a long time for the sequel to Aurora Hills Chapter 1. This chapter 2 starts right up from Ch2, and is delightfully long with different locations, and storyline of insidious goings on and suspicious events. Very much in the style of Meridian 157 with unique puzzles and searches for clues. Fun.

Man, we have not seen such clever and challenging puzzle designs since Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. The game is just dripping in atmosphere, a gorgeous West Virginia national park that is lush and rustic and abandoned. The story is also compelling and this chapter ends in such a cliffhanger. Im so sad we didnt wait for the full series to be out, but we cant wait for chapter 3.

Love the burbling brook water visuals. Looking forward to the next one. The wind-up key puzzle was a cool novelty! What was up with the creepy doll.

Ive really been waiting for this sequel, checking the App Store almost weekly, so we were excited to play this game. We liked that it was longer than the first chapter, took us a few days playing a couple hours each day on hard mode, well worth the $ our one complaint is that in normal mode you get hints and easier puzzles, and in hard mode you dont get either. We like the harder puzzles but every now and then Id like the option of a hint when Im stuck without reducing the puzzle difficulty. Wish there was a custom setting where you could keep hints on with hard puzzles. We just switched back and forth between hard and normal when we needed a hint but it would be nice to not have to. We also wish we got a little bit more lore/story but we can respect the slow burn. These are pretty minor issues, and we still loved the game. The atmosphere, mechanics and cutscenes were all smooth, no bugs or glitches at all. Now Im bummed that its over thoughgotta go back to game purgatory waiting for chapter 3.

NovaSoft has our favorite games. We know they only have 2 series of games but they give you long gameplay and the best graphics. The Meridian 157 series is awesome and Im currently playing Aurora Hills 2. It has this creepy West Virginia mining vibe and you are trying to solve the mystery. Check it out.

Loved the Meridian series, and Im absolutely adoring Aurora Hills so far! The puzzles are challenging and they make you think, but not super difficult. We love the hint system and the option to skip puzzles if you ever get burnt out by a puzzle. The visuals and the ambiance are awesome, as well as the hint system! We also love the mysterious story behind the game – we really want to uncover what happened to Jennifer, and why so many campers have disappeared in this place. Its not a horror game, but theres definitely a little creepiness to it as you move along your journey. Our only suggestion would be to add a feature where you can crop out the pictures you take so you can look at them while you solve the puzzles (if that makes sense?) as well as a way to maybe hide the inventory sidebar and buttons, as it does take up space. Other than that, the game is top notch and we highly recommend all the games from this company to those who enjoy this genre.

An absolutely beautiful point and click adventure! We miss these types of iOS gamesthe attention to detail in the environments makes exploration feel rewarding, while weaving the puzzles into the story seamlessly. Cant wait for the next chapter.

NovaSoft is the only developer we follow on social media, and we were thrilled to see when they announced a new chapter of Aurora Hills! That excitement was absolutely justified because like part 1, this game has gorgeous visuals and mostly intuitive gameplay. (With that said, theres one area in the final bit which is not intuitive, where you have to use the go back arrow to explore a new area. Minor quibble.) The puzzles are a mix of solve by finding clues and mechanical puzzles, which keeps the game from feeling predictable. We like that the hints (magnifying glass) are given in steps so it can help you get started on a solution without being all-or-nothing like some games tend to be. Within a puzzle, the magnifying glass will even tell you if you dont have enough information to solve it. Outside of a puzzle, the hints are more sparse but the game is not about gotchas or pixel hunting so its not hard to progress. Plus the game has a task list to help you remember what to do. The storyline is also compelling, and we think it is served fantastically by the technical aspects mentioned above. However, even if the story ended up being a dud, the overall gameplay is so excellent that it would be hard for us to walk away feeling disappointed from this series. We cant believe how small the team is with the quality of writing, design, props, environment, and gameplay. We look forward to anything NovaSoft puts out in the future! We rarely replay games like this, but we might go back through the entire catalogue because its so hard to find games of similar caliber. We think this belongs in the escape/puzzle game canon like The Room.

Once again you guys knocked it out of the park! What a great game/chapter! The story and puzzles are top tier! Cant wait for the next game.

We love this game , we love all games done by you. But chapter 2 went so fast we were done in one day . When 3d chapter are going to be released? Can it be longer please? Thank you for all you do.

As is per usual from Novasoft, the settings and art and cinematics are top notch. The lonely yet subtly threatening atmosphere is so well done. The puzzles are a clear progression up from previous, already good games. We wish there was more color text when tapping on visually interesting non interactable points, thats the biggest area for potential improvement in our opinion. But just a really solid, atmospheric game. Can't wait for chapter 3 to come out in probably a few years! We look forward to possibly beta testing future projects, and thank yall for the promo code. We've got nitpicky notes (mostly on chapter 1 since we've replayed that a few times) if you want them. Though no worries if not, we have hundreds of thousands of words written nitpicking various point and click adventure games and few will be read, let alone used. And these games are already top tier and chock full of good content. Best wishes to players and devs alike.

Beautiful done escape game per usual. The puzzles are ACTUALLY challenging but not impossible by any means. Really makes you think outside the box. Our only complaint is we wish they came out sooner than a year in between each one.

This was so very well done, we just completed it today, Im sad its over for now, but we hope the next chapter is released SOON! Well done.

The atmosphere is lovely, as always. We just wish there was more music throughout, like in Meridian, since its one of our favorite aspects. Cant wait for the next! P.S. Are you kidding us with that Jen doll swap!?!? Gave us creeper goosebumps!! So good.

This is an enjoyable beautifully made game, with many hours of play. Our only beef is that some of the puzzle solutions dont make any sense, and we would not have been able to solve them without finding help online.
