User Reviews on Dark Tales: Lenore

Looking for more information? Read a comprehensive review of Dark Tales: Lenore below:

First really great game in a loooong time from Big Fish. We’ve easily played over a 100 of their Hidden Object games in the past 5+ years and this was one of the best ones in terms of length of game, not super repetitive and the hidden object games were all the same. Seemed like the creators took their time planning out and designing this game. Definitely suggest buying this game if it’s on sale, although it was good enough that we prob wouldn’t have minded paying $4-$5 for it. Nice job.

Im an RN who is desperately trying to escape from disability. Im broke even though we spent four years to do so. Id love any help we could due so, we adore children and also our concentration is in geriatrics. We are looking for anyone who needs a sitter we would love to work as one.

We found this game very enjoyable, with our famous detective Dupin doing his thorough investigating. Hidden object scenes were interactive and fun. Puzzles were of a unique variety. Collectibles and morphing objects to collect in scenes. A nice touch was the teleporting map indicated if you had overlooked a collectible. Liked the added addition of when collecting feathers, you use them to complete a puzzle. Loved the interacting with Dupin and choosing questions and info to ask. Graphics were clear, we did however experience some multi tapping in order to pick items up. This did not affect gameplay, as it was doable. Bonus chapter was tied in nicely to the storyline as well. Just sorry to see it end – only to wait for the next release. Fellow gamers: we had mentioned on another review that we had contacted Fivebn games and they replied back saying that Legacy: The Prisoner would be released this week. Well nothing so far – Not sure why? Our apologies as we took them for their word. Who know, guess there is a slim chance that we might get it today? Happy Gaming Everyone! We definitely need more games from somebody – Agree? Guess we should have tried to make this one last. KdBoots ( Still giving this game 5 stars even though it is a little unresponsive. Well worth playing! *Note to Lynx: First off, obviously we did not experience the major issues with this game that you did. The multiple tapping at times did not ruin the game for us and furthermore it is our prerogative to rate a game based on what we enjoy. Quite frankly, you are out of line addressing and noting a decision that is ours solely. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and we have noticed that people experience different problems with games, while others dont. In reference to FiveBn and the release we have not received, we contacted them again and have heard nothing back. We dont know what their problem is – we are just going by what they initially told us. P.S. The developers cant please everybody and have no control over who experiences glitches and who doesnt.

Would enjoy more HOP, but great graphics. Character voices are exceptional good, many game are not as high a quality.

This game has a well developed plot with good graphics and great games. The scenery is in keeping with Poes style of writing.

We love this game! The storyline is very interesting and doesnt stray at the end to add length! The puzzles are clever, but not overly difficult! We rate this as one of our top ten!

We are enjoying this game. We have enjoyed almost all the Edgar Allen Poe series. This game had interesting hops and clever new games. We can tell you on our huge I-8+ we still have trouble manipulating the drag and pull so we after a bit of struggle we have to skip and play it later. We like hidden object adventure games so we are looking for the cut scenes and dialogue and a follow-able story line. We can get purely impossible to find hidden object games elsewhere. BAHR.

Has kept us thoroughly entertained.

Game is just hard enough keeping you hooked.

This reminds us of the Shadow Wolf series. Totally different subject but the music, sounds and the way the game plays is very similar. We really enjoyed this game. The bonus game is really well done. We were sorry when Id finished this game.

We were enjoying this game very much ( tho Dupin is still useless ) until, in spite of the slider to turn the voices off, it yakked at us. To each her own, but for us this is an instant delete offense. Please allow your players to turn off ALL voices.

Game kept kicking us out of each scene and HOPs when near the bottom. This is especially annoying during the HOPs. Also, we found 65 of the 66 gold feathers. In the Extra section, we couldnt locate and select the one remaining feather! Otherwise, this game has exceptional HOPs and a very fast refresh rate, beautiful graphics and real time animation. Please correct the sensitive control glitch on the next game.

Others have mentioned how the back button is too sensitive. It was annoying but we were dealing with it. But now as soon as we place the demon part, the game kicks us out. Currently saddened we paid $7 for this. Oh well.

Welcome back, Izzy! We were starting to become concerned about you! We should have listened to you and not have even bothered with this game, but we had nothing else to do. Looking back, we have rated every installment in this series either 1 or 2 stars, and this trend will continue in this game as well. ERS may have renamed themselves AMAX Interactive, but their terrible reputation for poor quality assurance has remained! You could customize settings. The graphics were good quality, one positive aspect that the developer always manages to achieve. Its unfortunate that they cant develop a game that is enjoyable to play, due to poor quality assurance and a terrible user interface. There is a conundrum here: truthfully, tasks were interesting to accomplish but miserable at the same time to complete due to touch screen sensitivity issues. The storyline was ridiculous and confusing, and there was no cohesive journal to help you follow storyline progression. Objectives were regularly updated. There was a marked teleport map to provide delayed transition between locations. Collectibles included morphing birds and golden feathers; if you collect all the feathers you can then use them to solve a jigsaw puzzle. Inventory was labeled and interactive and there were complex items to assemble. Unfortunately, there were major touch screen sensitivity issues which made it difficult to pick up and/or utilize inventory items. It was also necessary to repeat actions with certain inventory items (such as removing bolts or hammering), which made this game seem quite dated. Another issue which this developer refuses to fix is their awful interface which allows for unnecessary back tapping out of HO scenes or to a prior location. A back button is sorely needed! The HO scenes did have some variation, although none were cutting edge. No alternative puzzle was offered either. There was a decent lineup of puzzles and games, and you could even choose between casual or hard mode on some of them. Because of the interface, we had trouble manipulating some of them and was so fed up we just skipped them, which is something we normally dont do when playing a game! This game was a decent length inclusive of the bonus adventure but to us it was so tedious to play that we couldnt wait to finish. Our review will stand at 2 stars, and we are being generous. Note to KimTwilight: we know you think Dupin is dreamy, but could you please not add any stars for good looks, lol? Note to Catalina: we realize that gaming is subjective, but how could you rate this game 5 stars when there were MAJOR technical issues and gameplay wasnt smooth due to the interface? You mentioned numerous problems and still rated it 5 stars; it didnt deserve 5 stars, and the developer wont fix these issues if everyone rates a problematic game so highly! Also what can you tell us about the release date on the sequel to Legacy, since you emailed the developer and received a response from them? The game still isnt available on the App Store. Any information would be helpful at this point, so it would be appreciated and we are quite sure others are eagerly awaiting this game. Thanks, our friend! Sorry, we did finally read your entire review so Five BN isnt giving you the correct information. According to Izzyoc, several games in some beloved series are on their way, and thank goodness none of them is by this developer. Happy gaming to all! Lynxie implores those of you with better things to do to not waste your money on this game.

To us the free trial was annoying and we didnt finish it. Tooooo many cut scenes and talking…. So we decided to delete and not to purchase. Just our take on it. The graphics were good.

We gave this game 5 stars originally. This was before we got to the part where the creators promote suicide as manly. Suicide is not manly. It is COWARDLY. In the past we never would have commented on this but we have since learned that, for depressed people or others who are in a very dark place, a seemingly small remark becomes a sign meant directly for them. We hope you will seriously consider removing that one small line from your story. It certainly will not change the rest of your otherwise great game.

Yall. Im so still confused. We have no idea what the actual storyline was here. There were hints of a dead lover, and nothing actually came of it. So we played the bonus story hoping that would help, nope. Now Im even more confused. Game is glitchy, slow responding, and the storyline makes not one lick of sense. Two stars because the map is handy, and the art is pretty.

The transitions between scenes are cumbersome and slow. Im running the latest version of iOS on an iPad Pro. The storyline is ok, but there are too many puzzles that are juvenile (tracing lines, hidden objects). As we would expect from a Poe inference, the scenes are darkly lit, but Id like the the contrast of colors to look more professional. The worst part was it kept us curious to see if it improved, so we bought the full version, its just not worth it.

Our games on your website said we purchased this game. So why do we have to pay again to play it?

Why has this game started crashing. Fix it or refund our money.

No explanations for the puzzles.

Another waste of money and that is getting to be the norm for big fish games. We’re just about to the point where we’re done spending our money with them. This game is messed up so hard to point and click to the point we’re having to skip every puzzle. Nos we’re at a spot where it just crashes every single time and can’t play the game at all. From big fish outting out old games with new on them to this issue where u r not able to play at all. Also overcharging when it says 3.99 but once u download and play trial and try to pay to move forward it’s 6.99. That has happened the last 3 times in a row except for this gem which can’t be played at all. We’ve have spent a bunch of money with big fish and bottom line we don’t feel like they take care of their customers that do spend a lot of money. Never any special deals for the die hards that spend money every week. Five bn is where it’s at. Superior games and don’t mind paying full price when they r that good. Wish they had more games but maybe u guys can try and get to their level no reason u can’t except 1 greed. Very dissatisfied and we hope eventually it’s starts hitting u where it counts,in the wallet. Then maybe u will care.

We got this game and was doing fine, then our iPad ran out of charge, so we quit for the night and now our game wont get past the twirling bullet. We would appreciate it if you could fix this.

.."Cut off their TALES with a carving knife…" "Oh,no! Wait! We’re a rat!! Anyway. These Tales need to be cut. It’s soooooo dated. The graphics and animations (spinning icon in between scenes? Might as well be dial up with elevator music) are reminiscent of very early Puppet Show episodes…. Without the underlying "old school" coolness. Completely agree- we cannot imagine pressing on after trial. Bored to tears. Miss LC City By the Bay.

Dont buy this one! As soon as you finish the free trial it dies and reinstalling doesnt fix it. Really upsets us that games are released without proper testing. Well BigFish you got us again, we pay, you dont provide. Im just about done with you!

Oh how we wish we still had access to the earlier Dark Tales games. They were so much better. The Raven was better than this. We do not know how what the producers are trying to accomplish but a poorly written put together game is not it. We bought this game to give it a full chance and it didn’t get any better. Our suggestion is do not buy.

Big Fish Games, what kind of message is this?? He caused problems and shot himself! Thats very manly!??? Its in the bonus chapter of Dark Tales: Edgar Allen Poes Lenore. The game is rated 9+….

Game is just not what we like. Tired of some of the game …. Impossible and dont do well.
