A Glimpse into Dock your Boat

This boat- and harbour-simulator for docking and undocking under engine serves as a realistic trainer for skippers. The idea and the creation comes from an enthusiastic sailor.
The simulator helps to improve your skills in safe manoeuvring of sailing yachts in different environments such as in narrow spaces in ports and marinas, using the prop walk as well as the effects of crosswind and current. It also allows to handle lines and fenders.
Besides the playful character of this simulator game the learning effect is creating the most value added for users. A range of different scenarios with various levels of difficulties are available for selection.
Uncomplicated visual onscreen help with short text guidances passes on the basic principles to get a feel for the handling methods. Optionaly the Pro-Version offers wind and current to be modified. For advanced users we provide a scene-editor via in-app-pruchase.

Excellent simulation, very realisticc.

Boat physics are great, can adjust wind and current. We were able to pick a 14 m saildrive boat similar to our 15 m boat currently wintering in Greece. We get to work through many scenarios which is great training because you can never be too prepared for docking in the Med! It requires patience and a subtle touch, just like a real boat. Much less expensive than practicing on the real thing in the real world!

This little simulator allows for so many variables that you can "play" the same scene numerous times. Wind speed and wind direction and the same for current are adjustable;the combinations are almost endless. As well as the scenes. While it might seem very straightforward to guide the sailboat down a narrow curving fairway, add a good crosswind and swift current it becomes very interesting. The sailboat does respond to pro walk and a burst of forward. No water flowing across the rudder in reverse-no steerage. Very well done and well worth the price!

The boats actually respond to the controls just like a real boat, and the situations are very well thought out. We’re not much of a gamer, we prefer sailing, but this is a great learning/teaching tool, even for expert sailors.

Note to Developer: we have the full version of both 2-D and 3-D Apps. They each offer something a little different to boaters. This one is still Fabulous. Please Dont stop supporting it. Absolutely the best Boat motoring docking (or casting off) sim out there. The developer obviously is a real sailboat owner who knows whats really happening around marinas! If you are a skipper that has poked your head out of the cabin to remind a frustrated guest to slow down as you enter a channel at 2.5 knots, then this App will seem very realistic. We single-hand our 30 foot sailboat all the time. Sailing is easy, but motoring and maneuvering around marinas can be hard. This sim is great and we’ve had it for 2 years. You get more out of this App the more you play it (and the longer youve owned your real boat). The tutorials were ok but too challenging in our opinion. Dont get discouraged, because the Gold in this Sim is the ability to create-your-own sandbox scenario. You can replicate marinas, and drive the boat around to practice docking. You can practice moving fenders at different spots around the boat. Experiment throwing lines at different angles and sequence. Try driving against a dock at different rudder angles and throttle. You can change current and wind; the scenarios are realistic. Then to leave the marina, the Sim lets you setup fenders and ease off the lines gradually to simulate a slipped line. Our reason for finally writing a review was this morning we created a scenario replicating a local marinas crazy pump-out location deep inside the marina. The pump-out is so hard to get to, its as if they dont want sailboats to use it. We took a aerial photo off the internet, replicated the marina, took a 30 foot sailboat with prop-walk and started practicing what-ifs. (Tip: you can edit existing tutorial scenarios to make creation faster). We have the new 3-D version of the app too, but this 2-D version fantastic if you are a real sailboat owner. Honestly this App is not so much a tutorial. Its more of a toolkit like the Navionics chartplotter app that we look at weekly. In retrospect, we should have used this App to replicate unknown destination marinas before a trip to practice the approach to transient slips.

This app is worth every penny. The boat handling is very realistic and gave us the confidence and skills we needed to dock our sailboat without damaging others. We only rated 4 stars due to kamikaze boats and the difficulty in tightening/lengthening lines. Im looking forward to playing with the scene creator to replicate our local environment.

This app simulates keelboat physics including prop walk and spring lines. Controls are difficult however. Moving fenders is frustrating and line handling equally so. If devs improve controls, this will be a 5 star. We already use it for teaching close quarter maneuvering.

Like others have said, the boat dynamics are spot on. But this app fails miserably in the fender and line control. The engine and rudder control are great. Controlling the lines is an exercise in pulling your hair out. For the life of us, we can not get a lined shortened. In real life it is one of the easiest things to do. We do as the program says, tap and hold, and it removes the line completely. Until the developers make line and fender control as intuitive as the engine and rudder control, our only recommendation is to save your money.

Despite being about boats this apps execution is a complete train wreck. Pop ups over pop ups. Horrible UI. Very confusing to understand goals and learn to play. Essentially nothing to do without paying. Play to see what not to do in an app. Nothing else.

This app is horrible. On first start up it appears it hasnt been updated since the early 2000s. It tries to make you pay and sign up in random ways. And request random permissions that a game shouldnt need. Overall this app should be removed for the App Store. Just avoid it.

Had to power off and restart phone.

Theres nothing wrong with in-app purchases but this app wont even start unless you create an account, pay for the premium version, or some combination of the two. The UI is hard to review because we didnt get to do much except push the throttle up before another popup occurred. Please remove the popups and disable the need to login. Its a game, not a social network.

Not realistic. Engine has no reverse gear. The slightest brush against a dock at 0.1 knots results in a crash and knock you out of the game.
