Community Insight:
We have played about 20 of the boxes Exit games, and this game was similar in the problem solving required. The game does a good job of ramping up the difficulty of the puzzles, and removing items once they are finished being used. The puzzles were usually straightforward to understand, but we did need help with a couple of them, so don't be afraid to use hints or go online to get support if you get stuck. Story was clever and interesting. If you enjoy the Exit games, and have done at least a few of them successfully, then we think you would enjoy the app version.
Weve played most all of the EXIT board games. This was by far the best! It took 4 of us around 6 hours to complete over two sessions. Need more of these.
If you are familiar with the EXIT games, this is an amazing virtual game. Great puzzles, great story. Very creative. Wish they do more games like this.
Has a unique table top game feel. Dont miss it if you are an exit fan.
We love anything by Glitch Games (Forever Lost), Fireproof Studios (The Room), Blue Brain Games (House of Da Vinci), CottonGame (Isoland), Lucasfilm Games (Tales of Monkey Island) & this game falls in that category. We hope the developer does more.
It hasnt stumped us yet, but its making us think. We love it when we reach the aha! Moments! These are puzzles we havent seen before and its kind of addictive we want to keep playing to see whats next.
Several other reviews critique this games difficultybut in our view, thats part of its charm. So many games feature puzzles that are too simplistic, repetitive, or boring. EXIT: Curse of Ophir, on the other hand, is not only creative but also UNIQUE. This game will make you think, puzzle, explore, and use hints. Just surrender to it: The hints are there, so use them. Please support this game: If youre an experienced puzzler or escape room fanatic, you'll really enjoy this game.
Really enjoyed the game and puzzles. In the same vein as the box games which we love. Some out of the box thinking required which we also enjoyed. We hope we see more in this series and soon.
This game was very different from other games, it used things outside of the game and required a lot of outside the box thinking to solve puzzles. All the puzzles were unique and creative, and it was overall a very good experience. We would love to see more of these games.
We are a fan of these types of games. This one really makes you think! Keep more coming.
On the whole it was worth the few bucks. It is more difficult than some which we like but some of that difficulty seemed forced. And did not like including the app in the puzzles. We takes you out of the story mindset.
Overall, we really enjoyed this and am looking forward to playing through the next one. For the most part, the puzzles were quite challenging but doable if youre really paying attention. And thats exactly what Im looking for in this type of game. However, a few, particularly the last one, were just too obtuse. The only puzzles where we used ANY clues, we used ALL the clues.
Some of the puzzles were a serious stretch – we mean you get so close, but the solution may depend on the orientation of the objects and we'll be damned but we're not trying every which way. For example that final puzzle with the frame – solution depends which way you're holding the frame. There's a couple like that where we figured everything out except orientation and then had to use three hints bc the thing we didn't know was in the third hint. Maybe we're just not that smart . Nonetheless, it was a different take and overall we liked it. Rather short.
Ive played a number of the physical Exit games and have enjoyed most of them. But Ive found the puzzles to be about 1/3 easy, 1/3 hard but satisfying, and 1/3 impossible because they require huge/unsupported deductive leaps. In this game, the proportion of puzzles that fell into the third category was significantly higher. When we needed hints, Id often fully worked out the first and second clues but just couldnt make the leap to the solution. In two or three cases, we read the solution and still couldnt understand how they got to it. There are much better puzzle box apps in the world. For Exit, stuck with the physical games.
Just got it… We get to the choose a profile page…and then nothing…..we dont see anywhere too get help. Ive restarted, removed and readied the app, everything. Help! Update…finally got it to open.
Im replaying this game – we played it first a long time ago – and its just not fun. The puzzles are hurting our brain – they are too complex and twisted, with obscure clues. Its like the dev is trying to make the puzzles as hard as possible and has forgotten that they also need to be fun and solvable. We agree with what many other reviewers have said about this aspect of the game. Yes, the hints are there, but who wants to play a game where you have to use so many hints and dont get to just play and feel good. Its too bad because the game has a lot going for it – its pretty substantial with a good atmosphere and nice graphics. But the design of the puzzles just gets in the way. If they were just a couple of notches down in complexity it would be a whole different story. Dont get us wrong – we dont mean we want easy puzzles. We just want them to be more logical and have clues that are less obscure. For the record, we have the same criticism of their other game.
We play any and all 3D puzzle/escape room games we come across and this one is not very fun. The puzzles are too much of a stretch with clues that arent very insightful. The answers to some of them make little sense. For example, why would the inverse of ^. Be just a dot without the flipped ^? Some of the solutions require you to use things like the games SETTINGS to figure out. Too much of an attempt to be clever. The settings are not part of the story. Sorry, not a fan of this one and quit before completing.
We couldnt get the last puzzle to work and we cant find any walkthroughs to help. The hints dont work either.
Better than any of the board game version. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Please do more.
Hi there you will need a lot of out the box thinking to solve these riddles – too much for our liking. We needed quite a lot of hints to either confirm what we already was thinking or to get us onto the correct path. Do not get us wrong though, there is nothing wrong with the game – actually it is nicely done. But a bit too challenging for us. Thanks Felix.
Love the game so far. Very well optimized, puzzles are not too easy and everything runs smoothly. 10/10 would buy again.
Im a huge fan of the Exit the Game series. This is a fun solo alternative. Took us about 3 hours. We only recommend for iPad because we think some features would be too small on an iPhone screen. Looking forward to more of these.
Our wife and we have played all of the physical exit games and really enjoy them. Manipulating physical objects is an important game element. This iPad version was surprisingly well done and polished. We enjoyed as much as the physical versions. Well done! Hope to se more of these.
If you like the physical Exit games, youll really enjoy this game. The puzzles were fun and interactive. Very unique experience. Hoping they make more.
What a great challenge to follow the clues and put them together to solve puzzles. There is a good hint system, but we wasted a few as we had already gotten to the part where we only needed the final one. Im still mad at ourselves on the Morse code one. Even though we only ended with an 8 rating, we loved the game. For those who like logic and deduction, this is the game for you! Yes it can be difficult, but very, very satisfying.
We have played quite a few escape games, such as The Room, Meridian 157 and Legacy – The Ancient Curse, but Exit the Game – The Curse of Ophir was a tough one. We got stuck quite a few times and had to use all the clues to get through to the next thing. We became really stuck on the footpath and despite following the clue instructions, we could not get it to work for us. For the first time we are quitting a escape room game. Congrats to everyone who made it through all the way. It was to confusing for us.
We were really enjoying this game. Got to 1968 the second time and solved the gramophone puzzle. A box opened on the bottom and it was empty! So we pulled up a vid walkthrough and we noticed that in the vid the player had a chessboard on the bar, and the ability to select an ice cube from the tray. We did not have these options. On the bar we found a pamphlet for the hotel. Are there supposed to be different versions of the game.
The clues are poorly thought out. You figure them out correctly, but oh, you have to actually use the clue backwards for no reason. Dont waste your money.
Ive tried to open this app several times. No luck. Tried reinstalling. No luck. Cant get beyond the Profiles screen. Using an IPad with system 15.0.2. Sure didnt get our moneys worth on this one.
Everytime we open the game you ask for a review, on something we already paid for. Well, you got one.
We realize we are not the brightest star in the sky but to us the puzzles and clues were extremely disjointed.for one, we were supposed to pick up our iPad and hold in front of our face and rotate it..come on! For us, this game was a waste of money.
