User Reviews on Fright Chasers: Dark Exposure

Looking for more information? Read a comprehensive review of Fright Chasers: Dark Exposure below:

This was a fun title and had great potential for a new series. MH made some of our most favorite games. We know business is business but still. Im sorry theyre moved onto PC and console games.

Always love Mad Head Games and their creativity! Tasks are interactive, graphics were crisp & clear. A variety of styles for hidden object scenes, lots of puzzles (none that were too difficult) Character voiceovers were good and the storyline was their bizarre style, which we personally found entertaining. Collectible to find in each scene and a morphing object to find in hidden object scenes. Had a lot of fun with this one! Boat scene was a nice touch. P.S. To Tina – Sorry for your disability, but just so you know their is an arrow on the bottom right of the boat scene that will skip that puzzle for you, so you can continue. Hope this helps! We recommend purchasing this game and enjoying the ride! Happy Gaming Everyone!!! Cant wait for our next New Release, very difficult to stretch these shorter games out. KdBoots Note To Big Fish – Shorted another New Release this week? One new release a week is not enough – This being the only one! Why arent you listening to your reviewers who have regularly been buying your games? This is ludicrous to give us Sale Games that we already have bought and played for. Certainly, hope you make some changes soon – before you lose a great consumer base. We and others have expressed 2 New Releases a week were Not Enough and now you give us 1 (Pathetic) The 1 Game a week, this one and others have been way too short in length to begin with. Seriously thinking about doing something else with our time, in order to avoid this frustration and inconsistency. Really disappointed and thought your consumers, (IPad Users) meant more than throwing us crumbs. Suggestion: Try listening to the ones who have made your business what it is today.

We have been playing iPad hidden object games for several years, since our first iPad (iPad 2). We didnt find this game to be too easy. No glitches! Mad Head is our favorite company. We dont play in one session, so this game did not seem very short to us. Find Mad Head collectible logos throughout the scenes and within the HOPs.. Unlike the previous game, these logos were not overly hidden, just right! The HOPs were interactive and varied throughout the game. Puzzles are bright and easy to follow the directions. Extra section includes an extra super HOP and hidden objects to be found one-at-time. Suggestion: Please enable the ability to backtrack to find the missed hidden collectibles. You can find the missed morphing objects by replaying the HOPs. Great job!

We liked this one. Not very hard, but some very clever mini games. And blessedly silent when asked. We do wish devs would not put little arcade style mini games in these hidden object type games. If someone wants to play an arcade game there are lots of great ones around. Those of us who play these games are more interested in puzzles, thinking things through. At the very least any arcade type game should be skippable. Really good bonus game too.

We really enjoyed this game. Mad Head Games delivered again. Great plot and suspense. The only problem we had was that the game was a little short. Besides that we think it was a hit. Note to Big Fish: we do wish we could have few games with suspense, history and a little romance. Just a personal request!

UPDATE – once again BF neglects iOS players with only one new game this week. Many of us have already played the games that are on sale. PLEASE listen to your loyal base and treat us equally with the PC/MAC players. We were rather disappointed with this MadHead game. It has a dated feel as the HOs were revisited and there was considerable difficulty in combining objects. Overall not their usual quality. It was also shorter than recent games.

Not bad bit too much story not enough game.

This game was the first in a new series by Mad Head. However, it seemed like it was a lite version of the type of gameplay normally associated with this developer. We were given the usual perks: customizable settings, teleport map, complex items and a gimmick (the paranormal camera). Collectibles were limited to the spiral Mad Head symbol, and morphing objects to the HO scenes. Certain zones could be viewed from two different perspectives. However, the entire game was mostly linear and overly simplistic, as if it had been dumbed down for a beginner player new to this genre. The HO scenes lacked the unusual and innovative aspects that we normally associate with Mad Head, and the puzzles/games were extremely easy and required little to no logic whatsoever. They were mostly either rotational puzzles or placing objects in a certain order. The graphics were not spectacular, and the storyline was trite and redundant. This game was extremely short, inclusive of the bonus adventure. There were some touch screen sensitivity issues as well, when attempting to use inventory items and while trying to combine items in the HO scenes. We guess its healthy to allow your brain to rest on occasion, but we prefer Mad Head at their best: insanely creative, quirky and challenging! The game was somewhat enjoyable to play but it wasnt anything that was revolutionary, eccentric or amazing. Our actual rating will remain at 3 stars. We didnt totally detest this game; it was decent but not terrific. Truthfully we bought it because we were bored and wanted to play a new game. Hopefully we will be treated to something fantastic on Thursday. Happy gaming to all! Note to Tina: we read your review and could sense how frustrated you felt. We are under the impression that you are a relatively new gamer, at least to this genre and this developer. You could have skipped the boat game; there was a skip button at the bottom right of the gameplay interface. Did you possibly not complete the tutorial at the beginning of the game, which would have shown you how to skip a mini-game? The boat game is considered a game of dexterity and most of the time those types of games are able to be skipped, since elderly or disabled individuals could have difficulty with them.

There is nothing technically wrong with this game. We experienced no glitches and it has all the standard features like a teleporting map and configurable difficulty. The graphics and soundtrack won’t win awards, but they are acceptable. The thrill ends there, though. Mad Head is known for its innovative touch, and that is completely absent from the game. There is some variety to the HOPs, but they are all quite simple. The majority of the mini games consist of "press the buttons in the right order." The trademark hidden Mad Head logo is present in every scene, but it stands out in different colors so even THAT is easy to find. This linear HOAG seems to have been created for beginners. Those new to Big Fish may enjoy it, but we think it will be a disappointing yawn for most players. Our ranking is 3.5, and we scaled down because we don’t want to encourage more games of this nature.

Puzzles are soooo easy. The story is not fleshed out, and therefore you have no interest in it. The clunky controls and glitchy touchscreen were the worst. We tapped twelve times on the knife to finish the sun in a hop, and 8 times for something else. And youll tap tap tap all over the place in the available scenes looking for anything you can pick up, and after going over and over the same area, you can finally pick up something youve been tapping on all along!! And the main game was done in 1-2 hours, and thats with all the glitchiness slowing you down! And Idont use hints or skips, so if you do it will be even shorter! Mad Head really just phoned this one in, thank you for wasting our money on this piece of garbage.

Technical glitches, very short trial and overall not very interesting. Sigh.

We liked the game enough to buy it. But after unlocking it, we lost all our inventory and a scene earlier in the game appeared. Too much work to straighten it out so we began a new game. Annoying.

Had to start over because there was no key to unlock compartment.

It seems like a typical HOG game, but there are a couple puzzles that you cannot skip. We’re so sorry; we’re disabled in our arms so we can’t do the (sort of) quick-reaction boat game that pops up. Excuse us for existing and expecting a way to skip a puzzle the way EVERY OTHER GAME OF THIS TYPE permits, but thanks for taking our money to remind us of our disability. We just wanted to play a relaxing game, but like with so many others things, we can’t do this. FAIL. Like the rest of our life because of this disability. Thanks a lot.

Bought this game. Zero sound. Refund.
