Community Insight:
We love the models but we want to play with friends, not empty servers or random people, also voice chat could be useful also, guest acc could not talk to other people or see their texts, junior acc could text but not voice chat, 13+ could use voice chat nd text, 18+ cant talk to any teen but could play with other adults, and 9 under could use chat stickers to talk but not use their own text, pls add secret accessories in the maps.
Where do we even start? The graphics and visuals are astonishing, especially for the time it was released. Captivating and emotional story. Beautiful music that set the vibe. It was definitely worth the play after seeing that we could get this game as well on the appstore as an avid Sky: CoTL player. The only downside is that we feel like this game is just a one-time experience thing because all you do is complete the game, get reborn, and do the whole journey again and again and again… At that point we decided to just delete the game after. We did manage to capture a bunch of beautiful, scenic photos like we always do with every game we play though. Would recommend if you have 1-2 hours to spare in your life.
We absolutely love this game. The graphics and story are amazing and we love the never ending cycle of the journey. Very relaxing with the music playing.
The endless opportunities to see yourself and your life in this game are absolutely stunning. Playing it was an exquisite experience for us.
Sadly at the tower level which is normally very easy, the swarms that lift you are not populating in the right place. This makes the game unbeatable. Otherwise incredible game, and indeed timeless. Flourishing on a true adventure experience.
This game is so peaceful and relaxing to play, and the music is really cool! Its a profound journey, not your average gameplay and it really forces you to think about life differently. We all are, in a way, the main character of our own journeys.
It's a great open world Games with amazing visuals.
Journey , . , : Gris Journey. 2 , . . . , Little Nightmares. Journey , . ! 5 ).
We finally finished Journey after being stuck a bit and a couple of turn-arounds in the later parts of the story but we have to say, we were super impressed overall. Great atmosphere in the music and lighting, relaxing gameplay for the most part but definitely a few tense moments scattered throughout. We kept losing our camera control which we dont think was intentional but very frustrating depending on what was happening. Most times we could move forward until it came back but thats the only issue we experienced. We know games with a vague storyline and little explanation arent for everyone but if youre a fan of cinematic puzzle games where you figure it out as you progress, this one is great. The more games we play under the Annapurna umbrella, the bigger a fan we become.
Its a little frustrating and slow but you learn to get used to it. Then it becomes a fun way to get rid of stress. Therapeutic, fun, and pretty.
A really enjoyable game. There can be so much toxic behavior in the gaming world sometimes, but this isnt that kind of game. We feel lonely very often, and dont often see friends or socialize; we didnt know this game had multiplayer when we started playing it, and had played through it maybe six times alone, so we were quite shocked when we ran into someone. See, we have a disability; we cannot feel our hands, and the muscles in our fingers dont work, but the player we ran into patiently helped us and stayed with us even though we are very clumsy, and repeatedly fell off of a tall structure at one point. We had to start over many times because of us before we succeeded, and it would be very understandable if it was frustrating for them, since they wouldnt know why we were struggling with certain things that would probably have been much easier if our hands worked, and yet they still played through that part with us. After reading more about it, we know this games designers intended for their to be an emotional connection bond/connection formed between anonymous players who run into each other, and that the lack of text or speech comms is meant to add to that, and for us, that was an incredibly powerful experience. Also, its pretty cool that if we can play this game on iOS, then it is probably pretty accessible for other players with motor disabilities that affect their hands.
This is nearly a perfect video game. Captivating.
We played this several years ago on PS3 and at that time we remember thinking it was the most enjoyable video game Id ever played. The concept, the game environment, the soundtrack, all great! Best of all is the psychological moment of a random companion in an environment without the ability to speak to one another, and where cooperation benefits both. A seminal piece of work there. We downloaded this iOS version and havent been disappointed. We were kinda put off by there being no achievement trophies though. Seems to abbreviate the gaming experience. That said, we were pleased to see that the effect of the Transcendence achievement still exists, if not the trophy. Ive noticed that the game is much more sparsely populated than it used to be. Im journeying alone altogether too often. In spite of this we still give a 10 of 10. Even running solo its a delightful gaming experience. Very happy its still available, and still highly recommended.
Changing review from 3 star to 5 since upgrading from iPad 5th gen to iPad Pro 2 fixed majority of bugs, glitches and companion connection. The game is breathtaking, aesthetic and cinematic. It has an incredible seamless flow in transitioning the angle of the camera as you move around. Theres a level making the sun so immersive you can feel the warmth of it shining on your face. Though short, this is our favorite open world game topping other mainstream games Ive played because of Journeys simplicity, eliminating any words or text. No need for weapons or fighting. After switching to IPad Pro 2, FINALLY we have completed the game beginning to end with a companion two nights in a row. What we did: wore red robe with all patterns. Broken Bridge: Unlocked first part of bridge. Collected all symbols. Unlocked all small machine parts that do not affect the bridge. Sat on the rock connected to the 2 ribbon war machine left side of the bridge. Be VERY patient. Screen transition is okay when you make your character sit. Once in a while disconnect and reconnect internet but not often. When someone appears, stay very close together. Unitedly activate things. And play all the way through. Btw, we were connected with beginner players. Story is touching and experience memorable.m.
A beautiful and moving experience. Its so immersive youre actually sliding, springing, flying and soaring.
Maybe the game is too hard to play.
This game is so much fun! We started playing and now cant stop! We 100% recommend.
Awe and grief and kinship and gorgeous music. Incredibly impacting.
Other than performance & battery issues, it has no game center achievements, and the progress randomly resets.
Awesome game but lags and glitches a bit.
We have never written a review on a game before. We rarely do in general but this game is just wow The art, the music, everything. The story is so pretty and just falls together without there ever being a word said by any of the characters. We saw this on The Countdown on Snapchat and Im so glad that we did. Its all so wonderful. We cant believe after all the hard work that Im positive was put into this its such an inexpensive price. We finished it in one night. Id like to see more of this. Maybe a second story or just something along the lines of this game. Hope the creators see this review because Im very impressed.
It is beautiful! Well crafted and so intuitive, no instructions are needed. We have a PS 4 and paired one of the controllers to our iPad Pro. That made it a bit easier to play; not that it was hard without it, but it made it much better play-wise as we could spend more time admiring the scenery and less time concentrating on the mechanics. It is one of the most intriguing and absorbing games we have ever played on our iPad. We only gave it 5 stars, because there arent any more to give. We are hopeful these people will release more games.
Brilliant. This game is incredible. Im our opinion, it is possibly the best adventure game on the App Store. It has a simple, but moving and unforgettable story; haunting, beautiful music; and the graphics. As a graphic designer and CGI artist, we have to say the graphics are ridiculously great. Hugely detailed, and beautiful 3D areas, that you free to explore at your will. This game is amazingly designed. It is truly a timeless classic. What are you waiting for? Treat yourself to the Journey of a lifetime.
Beautiful graphics and simple controls. The story is interesting despite no explanations. We had some time to kill and finished in one sitting. Very enjoyable.
This game is and will always remain one of our favorite games.
Its one of the most visually stunning and emotional games Ive ever seen. The music is phenomenal as well. We absolutely love it.
Yes, we absolutely love this game, a five starts from us, but, it lacks the multiplayer functionality that the Playstation version possessed. We liked how you could help each other never knowing who the people you were helping/was helping you were until the end. Other than that, excellent game.
We absolutely LOVED this game it is so beautiful and the music adds A LOT to the mood! This game is probably our favorite game that we have!!! We were super sad when it ended! Everything about it had emotion and beauty in it!!! If you have not played this yet, you should play it!!! It is worth paying the money.
Just like it said in the title it is a great game, single player is perfect. Our primary reason for writing a review is that we hope the developers notice it and fix a few multiplayer bugs. 1 If two players get on a meditation circle at the same time they just start endlessly chest bumping each other. 2 Sometimes textile creatures glitch and freezes up, this almost never happens in single player but in multiplayer it happens pretty frequently. Also The textile whale in the light tower is exceptionally prone to this behavior. 3 If there are multiple players present during the scene where the flying stone sentinel makes its first appearance then all players become camera locked on the event. In addition Once that happens the stone sentinel never activates. Note: this scene plays perfectly when only one player is present. 4 If there is more than one player on the mountain(snow terrain) then wind affects are not present nor are any players ribbons at risk of being torn. 5 If there is more than one player on the mountain(snow terrain) then the flying stone sentinels will freeze and remain motionless in the air.
This games music is very beautiful and the storyline strikes a chord in our heart. Still fun even after the 4th or 5th time playing. It is rare to meet another person in this game as well, so when you do its very exciting and special. We think its worth the money. Highly recommend.
All we have to say is it was beautiful and the end left us in tears.
This has by far exceeded our expectations. We wanted something casual and fun, and it delivered. This game is also soo stunning..just beautiful. We very much enjoyed it.
We love this game so much! Theres nothing really bad about it. But anyways, 10/10 would recommend.
At points it gets SO hard that we had to look it up! It is a very very VERY wonderful game and Im only 8! We read 2 10 year old books and THIS VERY GAME we got freeked out! The songs changed into songs that make you think…something creepy is going to happen! We loved this game and we recommend this game to ANYONE who loves some sad some spooky and some happy. This game… Everyone should play this game. This is the 2nd time we have played this game. We STILL AM FREEKED OUT!?!? AND GUESS WHAT we AM. This is one of the best game Ive played and finished.
Loved being able to play it again, brought back some great memories. It is kinda buggy, but honestly it was better than the official ps3 version. We enjoyed a ton.
Wasnt sure what to expect from this game, but we trusted the purchase knowing we had heard so many good things. First thing to do is go into the iOS Settings app and bump up all the graphical options to as high as your device can manage – its worth it. As the title states, the game starts rather slow and we wasnt quite sure of the goal from the onset. However, as you progress, your purpose becomes more evident without ever truly explaining all the details, but rather letting you craft your own interpretation. Needless to say, we ended up loving the full, albeit short, experience. Took about ~2 hours to complete and we preferred a controller over touch controls.
We truly never write reviews, but we just competed our first play through of Journey, and we have to say, it was an experience rarely found in the video game world. The art, playstyle, musical cues… Its brief but wonderful. We escaped into another world in a pitch black room with headphones and a PS4 controller paired to our iPad. Just buy it, compete your own journey, and thank us later.
Its beautiful and we finished the game.
Its beautifully made but we definitely would not have spent $5 on the game if we knew it would take us 3 hours to finish it.
Its pretty short, like a demo, but good. Flying reminds us a little bit of Spider-Man games.
Its a good game/art but however, Im having companion connection problems so we cant see anyone here. We would really appreciate if you update the system for the servers, we only see just one companion through out our time we play this. So please update the system so us all mobile players can get this bug fixed now not all we mean some people dont have this problem but we usually do so yeah if you see this, please fix this. 4 star review for one bug.
Did not read the fine print and realized too late it doesnt work on our phone. Which is a shame cause we loved this game on the PlayStation and wanted to play it again.
The game is wonderful and if you let the game sit for a couple minutes and use headphones it plays very well. Otherwise the game lags and the audio doesnt come through the phone.
Good game, nice style, no real way to lose. But at this point, there are almost no other players. We only encountered one in the game, and only for a minute or two at the beginning. After being on the market for so long, the game seems to be mostly abandoned.
As many others did, we learned of Journey because we play Sky Children of the Light. Both games are similar but also so different from each other. We loved and hated how this game forced us to slow down. Maybe it would have been better if we used a controller but touch was difficult to walk slowly. Our overall experience was positive until the last level. We basically saw nobody else while playing this but we were accompanied by another on the last level till they got to one spot and it was like the wind was too strong for them to walk. They reached an invisible wall. We had to continue without them. Then a little further we couldnt not walk forward either. We restarted the app and got to the part where our companion had been stuck and we hit the same invisible barrier and had to restart the app again. Finally on our third attempt we were able to go up the summit. There were also times in earlier levels where the game just froze and we could do nothing besides restart the app. Kind of disappointing. We probably shouldnt compare this game to Sky but we were a bit surprised how short Journey was and theres really not much replay value.
This game is incredible, first time we've played it and we've played sky for a couple years before and we sure can say that we think we love the concept of this game way more. There are no micro transactions and the scenery, music, and visuals are stunning enough to keep you playing multiple times through. We hv also been lucky enough to meet plenty of helpful and fun ppl along the way, messing around and having a good time until we sadly had to say goodbye at the end haha. We sure wish they would update this game though and add a more customizable ui, add more tricks your character can do while flying, let us be able to add people as friends, add more unlock able secrets in game which could be items and places. It would also be cool to have a social area like in sky where u could just fly around forever with other ppl haha. Overall, a game worth 2 hours that you are sure to cherish. Thanks skygamecompany.
Ok we all have to admit. This game is absolutely amazing. But we were just playing normally like anyone would care. And when we wanted to play again after exiting to do some stuff it would not let us play . It would just show the fly and call button then it crashes the game! This has been going on for a week and im getting pretty tired of it.So if it is a bug or something please fix it.Thanks a tons.
The first time we played Dune on PS4 was very recently, and we honestly had a spiritual experience, a first for us with a video game. The visuals and gameplay are so simplistic but even without any writing or dialogue they tell a very moving story, with a dreamlike sense of sacredness and a deep touch of humanity on a desolate alien world. The multiplayer aspect of the game is what really binds you to the experience, in our opinion. On this iOS version, youll find the multiplayer experience is lacking. Im not sure why, but you simply cant find another player to travel with you for the entire length of the journey. It may just be that because this is a mobile platform, people are swiping the app off in the middle of things, although we cant see this being a pick up, play, put down kind of game, so Im guessing its a connectivity issue. This is an older game with kind of a niche following so we can see why, with Sky: Children of Light doing so well now, Journey is a low priority, or maybe there is some issue that makes multiplayer of this kind harder on iOS for reasons we wouldnt understand as a layperson. Journey gets 5 stars for PlayStation, and we could easily say 10/5 stars, but 4 stars from us for iOS because you typically lose the companionship aspect of the gameplay.
In the snow mountain scene, there is no jump button. Can you please fix the bug.
