What Makes Labyrinth: The War on Terror Stand Out

From the award-winning designer and ex-CIA intelligence analyst Volko Ruhnke, Labyrinth: The War on Terror combines an emphasis on game play with a multifaceted simulation spanning recent history and the near future.

The game takes players inside the global war on terror. Immersive game design has you leading the US to neutralize cells, maintain international support and encourage democratic reform.

An extensive variety of card driven event combinations fuels Labyrinth’s asymmetrical design, creating deep complexity that unfolds with every turn while maintaining an ease of play that increases engagement with every decision.

Labyrinth portrays the U.S. efforts to counter extremists’ tactics, as well as the wider ideological struggle – guerrilla warfare, regime change and more.

Key Features:

• Card Driven Mechanics – 120 event cards provide never ending combinations. The outcomes vary per round and take great effect on the flow of the conflict.

• Asynchronous Online Multiplayer – The system allows for seamless competition from head to head – if both are available – to respond when ready, and longer matches based on timer settings per game.

• Beginner’s Tutorials – Overview tutorials take you through the basics of playing the game.

This Entertainment game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

The game is deep, and has a STEEP learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, its really good. The AI player is pretty tough for new players, but stick with it and reference the rule book, which you can do mid-match. Also would like to add they have gamified some serious subject matter without it being insensitive or tacky.

Its tough but its good and interesting.

If you played TwilightStruggle, youll have the general idea of whats going on here. But the two player sides are quite different in how you approach them. Very deep strategy, game, and with lots of different possibilities for scoring a victory, you can take different approaches, which keeps things exciting. Theres a bit of a learning curve, because there are so many different things to keep track of It seems like a lot at first, but the best approach is to just dive in and start playing, esp. A live opponent. Youll get your butt kicked the first time for sure, but watch what your opponent does, and the lightbulbs start to flash, like ah, thats what youre supposed to be doing. It all starts to click, and once it does, its really not that difficult to play after all, but the strategy is deep. Highly recommended. Play smoothly on an iPad Pro.

This is an amazing adaptation of the board game. Im hoping that the expansions come soon.

This a complex game that takes some time to learn but is intellectually challenging. Im still figuring things out but enjoying it.

Planning and deep strategy are just the beginning of this complex and detailed game. We love strategy board/card games and this one doesnt disappoint. The games unique mix of board/card play provides a new strategy and planning experience. An experience that will no doubt grow as we learn more about the game and its strategic possibilities. We plan to update this review in the future, this game is unique and its deep strategy will take a little time to master. We wanted to review the game now since its a refreshing change from the usual board/card games. Planning and strategy are key to this game and this game makes going through the tutorials fun.

We abosutely love this game! Very great strategy and Ive learned a lot about the conflict through playing the game but we just have one ask, please fix the reassessment function. Whenever we try to reassess it doesn't work and we have to abandon our game that Ive worked so hard on.

Just got this on the new phone. The app seems fine but on the new phone we get stuck not being able to play cards . IOS thinks Im trying to swipe away the app. Also the tutorial text is sadly too small for our eyes. The card effect makes the app unplayable.

This game is rigged all die rolls are fixed and for the terror player bad rolls and good rolls for A.we and bot and theres no way to win this game is unplayable and trash it should be removed.
