Community Insight:
Thank you to all the Staff from the Melvor team! We love his game with a passion and its absolutely perfect. We purchased all the content you have and we love everything about it. Im very excited for Melvor 2 in hopes that it will be on mobile one day. Any chance of there being more expansions to this Melvor.
5 stars for no micro transactions.
If youre looking for a game that you can put countless of hours in and get lost into it this will be the one for you. Jagex really outdid themselves in this one. Highly addictive.
This is our favorite idol game we have ever played. It really scratches that itch perfectly imo. We never played OSRS but we never felt we were missing any of the required reading. That being said if you have played OSRS is that stripped down to its bare components and we love that. There are a few things you should know before going in. -if you want to the full experience you will need to pay at least $10 (there are also expansions for a few extra bucks. We have Herald of the throne and we would say that and the base game are the essential experience) -you are basically just initially downloading a demo, which we think is good because that way you can really see if you like this type of game. -this is a premium idle game. Fully polished. No micro-transactions or subscriptions after buying the full game. -once youre in, be ready to bookmark the wiki. Youll want that as Im sure youll want to become more and more efficient. -there is no active portion of the game where you can directly influence the speed of tasks. Think of the clicking in cookie clicker. That being said the systems in Melvor are much more intricate and the skills you train up can have effects on other skills such as increasing experience gained from other tasks or decreasing intervals for task completions. We will say that we wish there was some kind of active component as some tasks/leveling to a desired goal can take some time and wish we had something else on our phone to do while that time came around. There might be a mod for this but Ill leave that to you to decide if thats a path you want to take. That is really our only complaint but honestly its fine. The experience feels more pure that way. -if you want to 100% this game, it will take a long time un-modded. We think thats a very good thing. It feels more fulfilling that way. Ive heard it can take about 3years to 100% this game with all its expansions. We cant recommend this enough for fans of idle/incremental games. We think it is perfect. This is no RDR2 but it may be one of our favorite games ever based on its rewarding feelings, beautiful simplicity, and surprising depth.
The best idle mobile game you can get. Get it, it's worth it.
Its a must have for OSRS fans. A must have for idle game fans. A must have for anyone who appreciates amazing game design and progression. Ive been playing this since it came out and years later, we still cant get enough of it. Im learning more about it all the time. Its so easy to get started but takes a lot of time to really master. Its deeper than you could possibly imagine when start and it never loses its charm. We cant wait for the sequel but we still have SO much more to do in this one.
Plenty of people in the comments (like the top helpful comment) crying about there being a paid expansion alongside a $10 game. There are NO microtransactions. There is enough content in the single game to keep you busy for months if not a year. We still havent bothered buying it because Ive wanted to level up our other stats first and now Melvor Idle 2 is coming. Idk how these peoples vote counts the same as ours. Clearly theyre not crying when big corporate games cost $60 and force microtransactions, but God forbid developers try to support their game with a reasonable DLC expansion. Was no one around during Xbox or PS3 days? $15 map packs on CoD??? Exactly. Now hush and enjoy the game.
If you like idle games we recommend! A little difficult to get used to at first, the tutorial does help a lot. If you like Old School RuneScape, definitely try this game! Great concept and thought.
Awesome game especially if you love idling and doing multiple skills and slaying multiple monsters and creatures and different things is a perfect idle game for oldschool runescape.
You can level your stats to level 50 in each skill for free, if you want to after that, you can choose to pay a measly $10 to get the full game with no ads etc. Ignore the cry babies.
We absolutely love this game. Melvor is by far the greatest idler available with tons of content and several ways to play. Highly recommend.
We remember a time where every iPhone game didnt feel like a cash grab. We got this game 4-5 years ago and its still the only game Ive never uninstalled. This game does have dlcs which we are more than happy to pay for. This developer totally deserves it.
Its RuneScape, but idle. Its perfect.
After maxing in RS3, we quit and seldom look back. Family life and the controversial release of the new skill Necromancy made us not want to continue. This game, however, will be timeless. Its a [not so hidden] gem, that is now backed by Jagex themselves. Praying the game continues in a positive direction. Us and our wife have all the DLCs and play daily, highly recommend! God bless.
Live the game, but after the most recent phone update, we get a white screen when opening the application.
Im a older dude somewhere in the 30s and we are just gonna say thisthis game is it hands down! We love playing this game and we love every concept you put into it. From pets obtained through skilling to mastering a certain skill to peak performance! Keep up with it and we cant wait for future updates.
Been playing for 3 years now. Figured we should probably leave a review. Ive bought and have countless hours in each expansion, with every skill maxed to 120. Theres no other idle game quite like this. You can really play however you want. Those familiar with runescape can see this as a pocket Ironman mode of the game. Solo play, with the allowance for mods which are conveniently located on the app so you dont have to deal with any third party external downloading. Game shares 90% of its identity with OSRS while taking some of the nicer concepts from RS3, like the summoning and archaeology skills. Honestly this is the game that made us quit RuneScape and take back our life. It scratches the itch of number go up dopamine hits, without having to click for 14 hours straight. As we mentioned earlier, with the mods you can make your game as active or as idle as you want too. We like to feel like we can play actively so we got a speed up while online mod set to 2x speed as if we were tick manipulating while the game is open on our phone. If being idle is your speed there are mods to let you do away with the offline cap of 24 hours. Close the game for a week and your character will still be grinding those trees. Honestly, coolest game ever. Its truly massive. The biggest and most complex (in a good way) idle game Ive ever played. Recommend paying the couple bucks to unlock the demo for sure.
Dont really write reviews but as a fellow scaper this is a great game where you can actively choose to do things or make progress not touching the game. Very in depth.
Basically the Idle version of Runscape but with only DLC expansions. Priced very fairly and with a ton of content. We have not even touched even half of the content yet due to life reasons but still appreciate the amount of content and fair pricing has us supporting this game big time.
This game is level up concentrate! All the fun and complexity of a good RPG leveling and skill system without the countless hours needed to actively grind. This is exactly what a busy adult gamer needed to scratch that video game itch without it sucking our time. Thanks Melvor.
There are a lot of new skills we do not recognize from our childhood playing RuneScape but right off the bat we notice one skill missing. The Hunter skill. Always was our biggest profit skill. Other than that we are loving this game. 5 stars for sure.
Purchased on Steam and have been playing on phone and PC thanks to the generous cross-play and cross-buy support! Loving it.
Loving all the new updates and the continued rollout of fantastic, meaningful, thematic, and engaging hours and hours of content. Been playing it from the start and we'll play it till the wheels fall off.
Didnt think Id be into a game like this. An idle rpg isnt usually something we go for, but we decided to try Melvor out anyways and boy oh boy was we glad we did. The art style is very nice for the eye to look at, there is lots of activities to level your character, and many different ways to build your character. After a couple of hours on the demo version we decided to buy the full game. Definitely gives a RuneScape vibe minus running to the bank and back, good for those who dont have a lot of free time.
Game is very fun. Not a fast paced game but very intricate once you start linking items from one skill to another. Just like RuneScape but you start the action and let it go. Check back in a bit and see what youve earned. Very helpful wiki guide online so very easy to navigate Free version locks a good amount of the skills that are very necessary, so buying the game is highly recommended. Downloaded two years so still playing. DLC is cool though but not really that necessary until very late game.
Wish we found out about this years ago.
Its too bad Apple refuses to allow users to scroll reviews and only will show you the reviews they want to. This is such an incredible game Id go on for hours. Oh wait. See point #1. Stifling creativity and feedback. Thats IOS.
Literally one of the best games Ive ever played. Not just mobile or idle. There is a bit of a learning curve but there is a great community. We love the challenge it offers and there always seems like there something new to explore.
We played as a kid and loved OSRS for years but we dont have time anymore. This gives us some nostalgia and avoids the feeling of xp waste while Im at work.
Theres so much to do, so many skills to train, and so many monsters to kill. An incredibly solid idle game.
People who don't have time to grind but can appreciate numbers going up and progress being made will love this game. It isn't mindless, every skill is unique and contributes to other skills due to skills needing each other. Township is an awesome feature that grows around your skills. Must try, strongly recommend buying the expansions.
This game is the perfect matchup of OSRS and a great idle game.
This is, by far, the best mobile game we've ever dumped this many hours into. So much to do despite the "idle" label. Devs and community are great. Top notch stuff. Number go up. Seratonin go up. What else is there to say.
Thank you for continuing to add more content to this game. This is a great game with no ads after purchase. Been playing for almost a year and a half consistently and still have not finished all the content. For the price of the game, you cant beat it.
We love this game and bought the expansion, but tonight it wont let us log into the cloud. It also now claims we dont have an account. Yikes! Please get this fixed pronto! That is the only reason we have a negative review, in the hopes someone will help!**Fixed! Love This Game.
This game is so good, we dont even play anymore and we came back when we remembered we forgot to write a review. Hands down, ive definitely put more hours into this phone game than any other one ever. Our only thing is we almost finished the game(we think?, im sure its been updated 100 times since ive played though), then our phone broke and ive never been able to get back into our character.after all those hours that really left a sour taste in our mouth and we dont see ourselves ever starting from the beginning again.
Got a year and a half of gameplay out of a $10 investment. Huge stonks.
It has everything, so much QoL content for idle gamers with busy lives. We just started and feel like making a second character for a speed run is still an option. With future updates in the pipeline this is a must try, if you ask us. Based off of RuneScape with a mild learning curve, this will have your attention we promise.
Just in general its a great game. In the idle genre it stands head and shoulders above the vast majority of idle games with one or two exceptions. The devs deserve the highest praise for the exceptional game that theyve created. We are especially glad that they have allowed for continued progress across PC and mobile. We are at about 75% completion at the time of writing and we will without a doubt purchase the expansion with hopes of many more to come. Congratulations devs on your great game. P.S. Thanks for not gathering unnecessary data from users.
Game is awesome its like osrs but idle, it just needs some type of socialization to it like friends list, leaderboards, clans so you can compare to other players or like a boss mode or raid that takes multiple players to beat.
Like most have said in some way, it checks all the boxes for an in-depth 3D rpg, condensed into a 2D app with minimalists in mind. Only thing Id think of adding is a Perma-death Adventure Mode that starts you with nothing with the same or tweaked settings the developer chooses from Adventure Mode. This would give more weight to your decisions and would make the game last a bit longer for those of use who want a bit with our progression and experience. And could you add an option to flip the menus from right to left? Its easily played with one hand, but not when the menus are only on the right. Great work, and and easy sell for an enjoyable game.
Great game love the style should try to do a StarCraft style for this game.
Like RuneScape, but as an idle game. Superb job lads.
If you love RuneScape then this game is for you, its so in depth with everything and the best part is it ISNT PAY TO WIN. The full game is 100% worth the $10 and the expansion is 1000% worth the $5. The devs definitely deserve a firm handshake for making this game. 5\5 stars for us.
First the good, this is by far one of the best mobile games Ive ever played. The game doesnt try to squeeze your wallet dry like other mobile games. You pay for the game and expansions and thats it. Obviously, it is heavily inspired by RuneScape but it still has a uniqueness to it. If you like idle games and youve enjoyed RuneScape at any point, you will probably like this game. Now the bad. We have stopped playing this game because of a skill called Township. It essentially devalues coins and resources so much that we dont really want to play anymore. Before, we used to spend time gathering resources to Smith or Fletch or whatever, in order to make money to buy upgrades and stuff. Now with Township, we have billions of gold and tens of thousands of each resource. Theres basically nothing for us to chase anymore other than gear. Another thing that isnt ideal. When you get to the higher level combat, you pretty much have to use the combat simulator mod to know if youll die or not. We wish this was an actual part of the game instead of needing a mod. Otherwise, if you stay away from Township, the game is awesome.
This game is very fun and if you like RuneScape, youll love this game. We just wish you could interact with other players because it gets a little boring after you get 99 everything and you kill the bosses and get what you want. Its like now what? You cant play with others, (trade, raid, chat, etc.) so it just gets a bit old after playing for a while.
Specifically the bug where you load into a character and cant do anything unless you close the app for 10 seconds and reopen it so you can click ok on your welcome back message. So very annoying and Im considering stopping playing altogether specifically because of this bug. Im tired of closing the app and reopening every single time we switch characters.
And here comes the but. The one thing stopping us from giving it 5 stars is the fact we lose progress. What we mean by this is that we were training our defence in combat. We left the game running in the back ground all day while at work. We accidentally closed it at the end of work and even though the game says ive been doing combat since 7 hours ago, when we reopen the game, we made zero progress and lost 7 hours worth of combat training. Not a big deal since we can just go back to training again and go to bed but still, a major flaw. Other than that its a good idle game.
We played the steam version on release for a long time, following updates by the original indie dev. According to iOS its now published by jagex.
We like the concept, loved RS growing up, it obviously takes up too much time though. So this was a nice idea. We even paid for the throne of herald expansion. However a bug just caused us to delete it, too often we came back from being idle to find our guy did absolutely nothing. Felt like it defeated the purpose of the game.
