We’ve cleaned up a few things.

Myst (Legacy) for Mobile Reviews

Finally got an opportunity to beat this game and see the ending, thanks to this mobile version. We were 11 when this game came out, and it was just to hard for us at the time. Thanks for the memories.

We originally played this game on the Sega Saturn game system and was amazed by the images. Yes the are static 3D pictures but the fact that someone was able to create them gave us happy dreams of the future of gaming graphics. The game works just fine on our new phone and we had little trouble navigating the worlds. Sometimes we went the wrong way but it was mostly due to screen size and finger size. We beat it fairly soon after buying it but we can always let our young family members play it when we see them. It’s still fun to explore. Please add control support.

Cant read on screen. Too small. Looking for a refund. How do we get a refund?

Thought the Myst Legacy game would have better graphics than the realMyst game by the same developer. Nope. Deleted within 5 minutes of opening due to graphics and game play being so much worse. Absolute waste of money.

The description here for this iOS Myst (Legacy) for Mobile game is the description text for the Riven game.

This app does not work on our iPad. It stopped on the loading screen, the pages do not turn and we cannot proceed.

Love the game, but this iOS version seems to have bugs. The tower specifically doesnt function as it should. The support link is a 404, and couldnt find any support page on CYAN. The Mac version is working fine, but we were hoping to enjoy this on iOS, and gift it to friends. But really cant recommend it.

Myst remains a favorite, despite its age and the fact that replays are not any different. Having the ability to walk through Channelwood or sit at the telescope in Stoneship is lovely to have in your pocket anytime, and its a pleasure to be able to introduce a staple of story-based puzzle gaming to new audiences. We hope it never leaves the store!

The transition this made from an old computer game to mobile is amazing.

Gotta love technology these days. A game series we once enjoyed on Windows’95 as a teenager we can now play on our phone as an adult. We love Riven too. More sequels please!

Just like we remember as a kid only better! Im not restrained by our slow computer any more. This is a great game that really makes you think. If you played it when it originally came out or are looking for a solid game with no micro purchases this is it! Its a must have!

This is such a nostalgic game and Im thrilled to find it on the App Store. Honestly at first we thought there was an issue with the sound but we had silent mode on. Turned silent mode off and the sound was fine. Going to be looking at Riven and realMyst next. Im playing it on our iPhone X running iOS 13.6.

The bright white bar is detracting.

Myst was one of our all-time favorite PC games, so we were excited to play this. However, its really finicky on an iphone. Im sure thats because its just a straight port of the PC version and isnt optimized for a mobile device, but sadly its just too hard to play in any serious manner. Ill try it on our iPad and see if its any better, but if you dont see this updated, that means it wasnt any better. For nostalgia its kind of cool, but not worth $4.99 or even .99 for that matter as youll give up after a few minutes of exploration. If youve never played Myst, dont bother.

When we retrieve the match in the wood boiler room and light the match the match will go out before the pilot light lights up. So Im giving you a 3 until it gets fixed. Please do so quickly, thank you.

… Just too darn small on an iPhone 6s screen. Thats not anyones fault, just a reality of a 4.7 screen.

We played the original Myst when it came out. The immersion was amazing. This rendition leaves much to be desired. The graphics are very sub par. We think there must be a bug because we get no sound. Its basically point and click and mostly a let down. Id get our money back if we could.

Adjusted volume in game and on phone and nothing can be heard making this unplayable.

Tap. Move. Tap. Move. Got a little annoying.

This game was fun on PC and could of easily been a straight port instead the game is a series of screenshots for 5$ wish we could get our money back.

Perpetual loop, terrible graphics. Really regret this purchase.

We loved Myst (and Riven) back in the day on our Mac. Sadly, this is a poor port. First, its an iOS (not iPadOS) game, so the graphics on the iPad are grainy. Second, the navigation is the EXACT same as the original and doesnt use any gestures. Thus tap to turn 90 degrees in that direction, tap to move forward, tap to activate something. Compared to other games, particularly The Room, Myst is lame. No zoom in, zoom out, just finger taps instead of mouse clicks and poor graphics. These limitations take away the enjoyment of navigating and exploring, which is the whole point of the game. The clues are hard, but there are so many guides out there if you really want to find them. We wish that there were puzzles and in-game hints (like The Room) so we wouldnt use our bored frustration to go look for a guide just to get through it. We suppose it might be okay on the iPhone, but then you dont get the immersive experience of the larger screen. Myst should either be kept as a laptop game, or updated to use the screen for more than just a mouse-click stand-in (and add some puzzles, in-game hints, something). We played for an hour, then tried another day, then deleted the app.

Everything worked albeit a tad clunky. We only needed a couple of hints. We knew what we were looking for but the graphics made some things hard to see. So great to finally play and win!

We loved this game years ago. Paid for it here, downloaded it and it immediately froze up. Uninstalled and 4 bucks poorer for the experience.

This was hands down the worst game we’ve ever bought from the App Store. Im livid at myself for paying 4.99 for something that in all honesty we wouldnt have given a nickel.

We’re playing this on our phone (running IOS 13.2) and there’s no sound! Can someone please fix this?!

Not full screen on the xs and crashes.

Not working with ios 13, please fix asap! Paid money for a game we cant play! Come on guys do your job!

We played through in a few days. This was our first video game. Absolutely love it! There seems to be a glitch at the end though since we cant give the last page to the father. :/ so we cant end it and play again.

Even better than the original Apple game because now Im old enough to be able to work out the puzzles.

Loved this game as a kid and wanted to play again. Highly recommend if you like difficult puzzle games. Could not figure out the difference between this and real Myst. Would be helpful if this was described. We would have paid the $2 if we had known there was an extension to the game. Disappointed.

Real Myst is the modern version that isnt just a HyperCard stack filled with static images. Cmon guys!!! Update THAT version!!!

Downloaded the app, running IOS 12.1 and there is no sound at all. Demo version was working with no issues.

Update says specifically updated for larger screen phones and the game is the same exact square size. The resolution in this game is so horrible. Should have left it in 1996 where it belonged.

Same as it ever was. We’re happy with it.

Super fun. Loved it then. Love it now.

Played this on a Windows ’98 the first time – feels like the classic game.

MYST is one of the greatest games we have ever played.

It’s Myst. There are decades of reviews that will let you know if it’s the type of game you’ll like. We loved it! If your phone can run RealMyst you should get that version. The improved graphics will be worth the extra $2. We own this app and remember that the world with the tree houses was impossible to navigate in this version without cheating and using the walkthrough. We are going to buy that one to replay it. SAVEthe game before you make any choices. There are a few endings and only one is correct. It’s funny to try all of the wrong endings but only after you’ve finished the game correctly. Iirc the strategy guide will warn you not to get too clever too soon. We stumbled upon the clue to the final task on our first attempt about two hours into the game without realizing there was no way back. Bad idea . Very glad we checked the strategy guide and it explicitly warns players not to complete that task. If you do that, you have to start the game over. Even if you don’t plan on using the walkthrough, do glance at it to get an idea of where you shouldn’t be fiddling around.

We loved this game when we grew up an we still love it.

We have played every version of Myst since its inception. The app store version is what we expected: Myst on iPhone. Point and click (tap and go) to some pretty neat locations. The game itself isn’t too long but the puzzles still remain fun. Knowing the game will for some kill the replay ability, but overall we still to this day enjoy the world cyan created. You might too.

Myst was an amazing game back in the day when we first got a mac and played it on launch day. The game is still a great game for us (as well as it’s four other installments), but it seems that many will not get into it because they expect a GAME out of it. It’s not really a game, it’s an EXPERIENCE! You need to explore, put together the nonverbal narrative, figure out where you are and what’s happened, simply immerse yourself in the worlds you find. Riven, Exile and End Of The Ages are also good, but we should warn you that those are REALLY hard compared to Myst. We beat Myst in roughly 10 hours without the hints (except when we needed to read colors, since we’re %100 colorblind), but in Riven, Exile and End Of The Ages we needed a partial walkthrough to get anywhere at all. Overall, a good introduction to a fantastic series, but know that you’ll be doing some aimless wandering, and taking notes is essential…

This game reminds us of our early childhood when our father first got a Mac. Love the nostalgia of it.

We got so far along in the game, then it glitched out and started all over! Please fix that, lots of hours wasted…

Game feels like a cut and paste to iPad. Controls are clunky and scene changes awkward. Images themselves are grainy in resolution and murky in color. Puzzle itself requires lots of offline note taking, no controls to keep notes online. We’ve done and loved all 3 Room games and was looking for more. Thought the grandad of them all might be cool, but they didn’t bother to really update it for the iPad.

No audio at all. Unplayable with no sounds. Please refund our money.

What a gyp! Bought Real Myst for iPhone and there is no sound. Cannot locate help for this on web.

Just played it for our first time ever. Even though it’s nearly 30 years old it’s still far better than many (most?) iOS apps. Definitely getting the sequel.
