Hear from the Players – Regency Love Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Regency Love:

We absolutely love this game, we couldnt put it down. We finished our story in less than two days! It was so much fun to play, we wish we were able to continue the story of our character in her married life. Updated Review: we absolutely love this game! We feel like we are a character in Jane Austens world, and its like Im in a regency movie. The nicknames dont work, but we had an idea about the players character features. You know how you can choose the first name and last name before you start the story, maybe the player could also choose their characters hair color and eye color as well. It could give the players character more of a description. We really hope that theres more updates for the game in the near future, its too much of a good interactive app to give up on. Theres no other game like it! Especially one that is set in the Regency era. We mean look at all the fantastic reviews this app has! We must have played it over a hundred times with each suitor. As much as we love it, its beginning to get too repetitive. We should also have Lord Sutton as a potential suitor option as well, and perhaps other new characters. What about the main characters estranged brother, and her aunt that lives in London? Everybody that we know who played this game have been patiently (starting to get frustrated) waiting for YEARS for new updates. Please do it for the fans! :)

We’ve taught Austens novels many times, and we purchased this game with some cynicism. But we were surprised by how very much we enjoyed it. We’ve played all three suitors and Mr. Ashcroft is by far our favorite, but all three storylines are good. We would have liked to see more development of some issues: for example the fact that your aunt and mother are estranged gets mentioned in the beginning and is never referred to again. What the heck? Why even mention the issue if its just going to disappear? We echo what others have saidwould love to see more characters added to this game or, even better, for these producers to create another similar game. One based on Dickensan orphan trying to make his way in London like Oliver Twistwould be great!

Worth every penny! The story is so delightful and rich in detail.

A ton of fun!!!! A fabulous setting with interesting era trivia. Our first goal was to get the happiest ending with each suitor so we played and played until we got as many kisses as we could (Ashcroft was the only actual kiss on the lips we could procure, the rest bestowed gentlemanly kisses on the hand. Sniff. We reaaaaallly wanted a kiss from Graham, but only our hand was so blessed LOL). Once we finished that, we played to unlock as many badges we could (which required us to respond in ways we NEVER wouldrude, overly flirtatious, or extremely independent, etc. That was hilarious). We still have about a third of the badges to unlock, so lots of play time left. We do want a Lord Sutton option. We keep checking this developer, but on our device there arent any other games available by them. For shame! Lol. Haha. We hope they put out more for the Apple store soon. Great fun. Worth the money for Grahams route for sure!!! Graham is a complete doll and Ashcroft makes a girl swoon. We were entertained by the wacky conversations of Digby and the older gentleman suitor (I forgot his name already.. Eek… Guess he wasnt our type lol). We wish to help or at least see Marys love story. That is perhaps one of the badges we havent unlocked yet? Ill keep trying…. Thanks to the developers! You have a winning game here.

We agree with others in that Id love to see other suitors be added such as: the teacher and Lord Sutton. Its a lovely game but hasnt gotten more suitors added since Mr Graham, which its been quite a while: several months. Feels like half a year.

After noticing some time back how Austen novels had so many elements suitable for an rpg game, we’ve been hoping someone with time and talent would recognize the same and make something like this. This is excellent and we are quite impressed with your implementation.

We remember playing this very briefly a long to us ago and it really left us wanting more. If you like period drama type love and character choice games with romancing your favorite characters this is one of the best one on the App Store as far as we know. Multiple roads you can take and you have dialogue choice options, and the characters are lovely. You get sucked into it and its not one of those you can kind of speed through because theres mini trivia hangmans and fill in the blank style games to you keep you entertained and reminded that this is a game. But the endings are truly worth it. The reason why its one of best romance games for regency era is because it is slow burn and youre just like ahhhh! Hurry up and kiss! Touch hands just like howd youd actually feel when em watching pride and prejudice. Down the game. You can buy the extra character if you want as theres only one, everyone else is freely available to you.

The story telling and romance in this game is unlike any we’ve played or read in a long time. We fell utterly in love with each of the men and with many of the side characters as well. In fact, after our first playthrough we attempted to go back and play a very rude character just to see the different outcomes, and we were surprised by how difficult we found it simply because we were so fond of the characters, and didnt want to be mean to them! Unlike many other games of this genre, in RegencyLove it really feels like you have agency over your choices and the story. There are some fixed elements, sure, but they are few and far between. In many similar games they give you the illusion of choice – Greg asks you to the park. If you say yes, you go. If you say no, your friend says no, you have to!! And you go. In Regency, Greg asks you to the park. You can say yes of course! And youll go, or you can say no thank you, not today or no and we hate you and never wanna see you again and you will not go! You will simply skip over that event, and the other events of the story will continue to happen around you. However, you also have to reject a character forthright many times before theyll give up on you entirely, so its not like youll suddenly get a bad end for making a few wrong choices. We know this is getting long lol, but this game is superb in so many ways that we could go on and on about. It is well worth the money it costs. Theres tons of replay value just in seeing how different choices will affect your outcome. And… Did we mention how romantic it is??? And we dont mean romantic in an overly obvious or flowery way as it can sometimes seem in these sorts of games, its just very touching and well developed. We never thought Id be gasping and swooning by a digital man kissing our theoretical hand, but here we am. If we were to have any complaints at all, it would just be that we do wish there was a way to increase the text size, its quite small. And we’ve been staying up far too late every night playing this until our eyes grow bleary, and the text gets even harder to read. Overall, an impeccable game. We cant wait to see what else this studio puts out!!!

We are completely obsessed with this game. The graphics are beautiful and the storylines are captivating. We love how many chances you have to make your own decisions and form your own personality. Our one complaint (that is really a compliment) is that there is not more to play. The only thing that could make this already amazing game perfect is if there were more suitors to choose from so you can play repeatedly without it becoming tedious.

Theres not enough words to say how much we love this app! If you love Jane Austin, or even just have a fancy for pretty gentlemen and fantastic storylines, you must get this!! We played this game morning to night to morning again and had no complaints. Thoroughly made us fall in love, we especially loved the Ashcroft family and Lord fat cat. Amazing writing, not just a dating simulator and will genuinely make you fall in love with the characters, the only think we can say is we would have loved to continue playing as our character in married life or our engagement.

Wonderfully well-written. Our only complaint is that there isnt more to enjoy! We would love to see a path (or several paths) created for Lord Sutton, or that unnamed Gentleman who crops up every so often. After 2 years, is there any hope?

This game gave us life. And we guess our old review never posted so here goes: A gentle and surprisingly lengthy look at a six-month courtship with one of three bachelors (though we’re starting to suspect there’s a hidden one as well!), alongside other daily interactions: old friends, family connections, town gossips, schoolchildren, the neighborhood cat. Personality and hobbies defined by actual role playing and by winning points in trivia and hangman challenges pertaining to period quotes and tidbits. Questions are repeated here and there, but not as frequently as in version 1.0. Personality traits can also run repetitive; there are many options for ‘witty’ and ‘amiable,’ but not as much as for others. Even so, there several different results and they add embellishments to the epilogues (which can be saved to the Memoirs menu). A tremendous amount of time has been given to this love project; play if you’re curious, a fan of fine language, a romantic, and/or would like a gentle interactive story with replayability. One or two glitches; the nickname system has never seemed to work and one of Graham’s scenes is cut short. Mild concerns. Support these lovely ladies!

So we love this app. We cannot wait for more romantic interests to become available. Knowing that there are many endings keeps us entertained and the Jane Austen Trivia helps keep us on our toes. We thoroughly enjoy playing every minute. Thank you.

We only just discovered this app, as the App Store recommended it for us. We must say its the best recommendation, and worth every penny! Im obsessed! Jane Austen is right up our alley, and as someone with anxiety, we find this so therapeutic too! In a desperate hope that developers will read this review, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue working on this amazing app! We can see its been a while since any new content was added. We hope you havent abandoned this one, because its still so good, and we cant be the only person longing for more! Oh great and mighty app gods, please dont forsake us, bless us with more content!

If you are a Jane Austen fan or just into the regency era we recommend!! Each story is interesting and all together enchanting! We would love to have more suitors! If there is ever another app coming out by the creators we would immediately download.

We sincerely hope this game gets the update it deserves one day! We always find myself coming back and replaying this whimsical and wonderful game. It really places you in a Jane Austen romance.

You have made the perfect game for us, we genuinely cant get away from it.

Im a huge Austen/Heyer/Regency novel fan so we downloaded this app on a whim when we saw that it had favorable ratings. Needless to say, we found it extremely diverting and well thought out. We liked how it provided a lot of educational mini games on the side and the characters are all compelling in their own ways. We really hope they make another similar game or add more characters. We want more!

Worth the money. We would be glad to see more in this series set in different periods.

We love interactive story games in general, but if you love Jane Austen, romance or both this one really hits the spot. We just wish theyd make another game or add on to this one. We love the maturity of this game. Many romance story simulators seem juvenile but this one has some very good writers behind it.

We love the game we find all in all amazing however we have played through Graham’s story many times and no matter we still can not find a way to be with Lord Sutton. We believe Lord Sutton needs his own story and that you can chose whom to spend more time with are Graham invites you to go see art with him and you decide to spend time with Lord Sutton. That you can spend time and run into Lord Sutton which will lead to a romance. That at the park when you notice Lord Sutton and Graham leaves you, Sutton leaves who he is with and talks to you. Sending you expensive art that you enjoyed when you were with him. A few more chapters pass and he confesses that he is in love with you. We think the game needs a Darcy sort of romance cause who doesn’t love Darcy and Elizabeth!!!!!!

We loved it 4 years ago and keep checking for an update on more bachelors or characters Its not coming, is it?

We love this game we wish that it was still being updated with new content, even if its paid content. Pls consider revisiting this app.

This is an amazing game! You do not see many regency/Jane Austen themed video games and this one is definitely the best! The routes and characters are all very well written. The only complaint we have is that there is no official route for Lord Sutton. However we hear they plan on releasing a sequel which will feature his route in the future! We cant wait! We strongly recommend this game to anyone who loves historical romance or Jane Austen :)

Absolutely brilliant game, Im in love with it and we we’ve been playing it for a fair while. The game is extremely well made and beautifully crafted, we have nothing to complain about on that end. We do, however, want to let the devs know (if they happen to be reading) that theres something wrong with the nicknames in the game. Whenever the protagonist goes to tell Ellie to call her Catherine or Kitty it says Catherine or Catherine. But when we left the nickname box blank to see if it effected anything we noticed that Ellie would use the nickname because there would be no name there at all (since we left it blank) so Ellie would have blank spots in her sentences where the nicknames supposed to be. However it does not use the actual nickname when we have one.

We’ve been playing this game on and off for at least a year – its an absolute delight! The art is just beautiful and we love every single one of the characters. We appreciate how your heroines personality is easily customizable! We love it!!

We really, truly enjoy this game. So much that we regularly check the blog to see if there will be storyline updates. We’ve purchased the expansions and they really make options wider. Im working on trying to get all the different endings. Love this game!

We love this game beyond words. We wish that there was an update with a Lord Sutton path. We could play this game all day. Best game we’ve ever played.

Who do we lobby to get this app funded by a big wig with deep pockets? Is there an author who would lend their name to raise money? We have had this app from the beginning and keep checking in every 6 mo in hopes of their being new storylines or things to earn. Perhaps a whole new one based on another of Austen s novels? Tremendous job on this ladies!

We havent gotten far into it but this was EXACTLY what we were looking for! We wanted a game where Id feel apart of regency England and on the search for a suitor. And this game has everything we wanted!!! Only down side it seems is that there are no further updates happening, but since we just started playing, Im not too concerned just yet.

We do not often purchase games on a whim, but after seeing this we knew we had to! Being a voracious reader of Jane Austen, entranced by period dramas, we played through the game at a reasonable pace while still enjoying everything it had to offer. The interactions had with the characters as well as the many choices made it feel all the more realistic, and we were easily absorbed into the story. The little multiple choice quizzes were great opportunities for us to learn things we may not have otherwise known. Not only this, but the artwork throughout the game as well as the character design was beautiful! We intend on exploring the other storyline options in the near future!

If your a Jane Austen fan and have always dreamed of your own story…. This is the game!!!! We’ve enjoyed every minute of it and love the fact that you can change your story each time you play! Its definitely worth the money and captivated us through every chapter!

We think we bought this game in 2016, so we’ve been playing it for 5 years. If the developers ever take it away or dont update it so it keeps up with newer phones, we will die. We have played it dozens of times and have let our poor Android friends play it on our phone before, since they dont have access to this gem (a pity!). We will continue playing it until we draw our last breath. We are a HUGE Jane Austen/Regency Era fan, so this game works for us on so many levels. Thank you Tea For Three Studios!

This is such a fun game. Youve got a silent, bookish, not-traditionally-handsome guy, youve got a pretty boy who loves his little sister, youve got a guy that we expected to be a jerk but is actually really thoughtful and loves embroidery, and you have a slightly less offensive version of Mr. Collins. The sweet moments arent saccharine, people react pretty realistically, AND you get all those fanciful romance moments from books and movies without feeling ridiculous. Very much recommend!

We love the game!!! So much!!!! We’ve played through it multiple times and even bought the ability to romance mr graham which we dont regret for a second. When will more routes come out? We understand that takes time and effort on multiple peoples parts so we dont mind waiting- but is there a cautious date that we could be looking forward to!

Honestly we went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised! A few minor inaccuracies here and there but overall actually period appropriate! Sweet, interesting, and time consuming in a GOOD way (no drudgery required to progress, but the stories take time to unfold so you feel like youre getting your moneys worth). Do make sure you spring the extra few dollars for the Mr. Graham DLC. Its incomplete without him. Hope they add more LIs in the future! Would definitely buy more DLCs.

We revisit this story frequently and love the artwork. The writing is excellent and the classic/tasteful romance elements are refreshing. We only wish this developer would add more or continue on with these stories. We would gladly buy more. We love that its one purchase for the whole thing versus having to keep spending money to unlock new chapters.

Love this game! We only wish there were more options for suitors and more storylines. Please update soon!!

Despite its manifold problems, we have played this again and again. We have truly gotten our moneys worth out of it. However, there are many problems we would like to see addressed. Mr Digby- we LIKE Mr Digby. We think we should be able to choose him as a love match. Also, he says you have disgraced yourself even when you have not, in any way, disgraced yourself, by means of rejecting Mr Curtis and Mr Ashcroft at the first opportunity. Little variation- the conversations are too long to read them through every play through, and there is remarkably little variation between playthroughs. Somehow, the game overcomes it- we’ve played it through at least 10 times, very very likely more- but imagine how excellent it would be if it were different. Awkward illustrations- the backgrounds look childish, Mary Earlwoods expressions look quite bad, and Mr Curtis is almost grotesque. Tom- we believe, due to the little hints spread throughout your dialogue options, that you should be able to steal Tom away from Phoebe. Its just part of games like this- the more suitors, the more outrageous, the better. Marys dead end- what of her regard for the schoolteacher? We can find no ending to it. Friendships- friendships are never damaged, nor are opportunities lost or changed, whether you are amiable or completely cruel. You can berate Mr Curtis, for example, at every turn, except for the pivotal points, and he will come back for more- which is certainly not in his character. Female friendships- female friendships are not adequately represented in the game. We would like to see more females, more well rounded. Needlework dead end- if you do not put your first point on needlework, in our experience, the entire game ends immediately, with no further opportunities. Thinks we think could improve the game- Money system- buying this or that, collecting mechanic, etc Different dialogue options Dynamic friendships Clearer parameters to gain the character achievements There is more we could say, but this is all for now. We will even buy Mr Grahams expansion as soon as Im able!

We loved the play through of this game a lot! The things you learn, how different life was from today, it was beautiful. The art was astounding and the stories were intriguing. The developers did an amazing job in creating this! The only reasons we 4 stars instead of 5 is because we are hoping to get a sequel and the hope to add a face to the player character. RegencyLove 2 (or whatever it would be called) could show how married life is. In the beginning, one could choose which epilogue they had gotten in the first and then the story could bloom from there. For instance, we ended up with the epilogue of being married to Mr. Astercroft. In the sequel, we could choose that ending and then it could show how married life is with him. Maybe the player character is treated terribly because of his past or he could possibly look to be cheating on the player character when he really isnt. It would be very interesting to experience. As for the face, it would be great to have a visual of the player character and to change the mother to look a little more like the player character. We know that it is hard for art developers to do such but it would be outstanding if you could. It could lead to new possibilities of bachelors of more diversity as well for those who prefer that and also different reactions for others to experience. All in all, this is great and we hope to see more from the developers of this game. Please take our suggestions into consideration. It would mean a lot if you did.

We loveeeee the game, but weve been waiting a few years for the promised additional bachelors and extended storyline. We are so curious about Christopher, our heroines brother. Im also wondering what happened to the spin off, Regency Love: London that was mentioned a few years ago.

We really like this app but where is Suttons route? Update us please. It has been several years (5+) and still no Sutton or any other routes. Do you not need our $money? Lol.

We stumbled upon this app, and Im so glad we did. Its charming, witty, and engaging. This app reminds us of the PC game Matches and Matrimony, but that game was confined to Austen characters. We enjoyed having original characters to play with here. The three suitors (plus Graham after the in-app purchase) all have unique and enjoyable storylines. Our favorite is Mr. Curtis, followed by Mr. Ashcroft. Poor Digby is well… Lol Graham is a bit too puppy-doggish for our tastes, and we really wish Lord Sutton was an option. But after all this time, Im not sure if we will see new or updated stories in this app. There are a couple of minor typos and misattributed dialogues, but its not a big deal and they dont detract from our enjoyment of the stories. We love the Ninja and Lover of Cakes achievements. Theyre so random and hilarious! Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved this game and miss playing it but it hasnt been updated in a year so there are a lot of bugs. Great game though.

We love the set up and the design! But Im wondering if there will be more options for romancing women at all?

It is ok…. But a little bit overpriced. We were surprised that Mr Graham has to be purchased separately since there arent that many characters to start with. We decided not to get him. $10 is too much to pay for an app.

As a well read regency enthusiast, we cannot appreciate the selections given to the reader like choosing between books that were scandalizing during that time Eliza Haywood, Samuel Richardson, John Cleland, Henry Fielding. We find some of these works are still offensive. To go from Jane Austin in the game to Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure, yuck.

We really enjoyed the game. We really like the trivia questions about Jane Austen quotes on her books and the culture of the society in the Regency Era. However, we been through two beaus in one week and there is only 3 bachelors in the game. We expected more from the game since we had to pay into it.
