YANKAI’S PEAK. Reviews

You see a lot of similar puzzle games on the App Store. This one is different enough to feel fresh and new. Fairly simple mechanics, but some of the puzzles can be quite tricky. Kenny Sun and the Sun family in general are amazingly creative. We highly recommend giving all his apps a go.

A well thought out and well executed puzzle game, offering many challenging levels, a satisfying ending, and a bit of humor and personality mixed in. We enjoyed every moment!

This game is so long for what it costs! Not only that, the graphics are amazing and there is even a level skip system that is so good for players like us, who can grasp the basic concepts, but not all of the more complex and nuanced actions, who can just skip the levels with complex solutions that we dont entirely grasp. The App Store needs more games like this. Great work to the developers who were able to package this amazing piece of eye candy and a weeks worth of brain teasers in such a small package (that is, our overcrowded and old phone)

We really love the creators other game Triangles, and this one is also great. Simple but challenging mechanics, great atmosphere, makes you think without being impossible to figure out.

For $3.99 there should be a tutorial included with the app.

Challenging yet not impossible puzzles with beautiful colors yet simple geometric shapes keeps you focused. Very hard to beat.

We love puzzle games. This is the best we’ve seen in awhile. And the design is fresh and awesome, with lots of great levels. We can only hope there’s a sequel!

We have been an avid iOS gamer for several years. This is by far our favorite puzzle game that we have encountered on the platform. There is something incredibly satisfying about mastering its various mechanics (which are rolled out brilliantly) and putting them to use. Please support Kenny and family.

A real challenge, but once you get the hang of it, it is immense fun. We have beaten the game (it took a while, as it has many very different levels) and we continue to replay because it’s so enjoyable. It racks your brain in a good way. Very unique–unlike any other iPhone game we’ve played. We super recommend.

Some levels are frustratingly hard – and this is a good thing.

Somehow manages to create an experience that is both challenging and zen-like.

Some levels come together very nicely, and other require quite a bit of thought. We’re through part one and absolutely love this game.

This is a really fun puzzler. Only takes a second to learn. At first glance, each level looks like it should be so easy to complete, but some are very challenging. Beautiful minimalist graphics.

If you are looking for a challenging and fun game, then you’ve found it. Cool graphics an sound, great challenging levels but you don’t have to a member of MENSA figure them out. Exercising you brain is just as important as exercising your body. This is just the way to do it. Have fun!!

The developer has been great about fixing bugs for this game. It’s a cool concept and now very playable!

Great game, similar to Triangles. One big negative: the sound settings are broken–you cannot change the sound levels.

It looks like a great game but without direction we can’t play which makes it no much fun.

This is a really excellent variant of the sliding block puzzle with pretty unique movement. Simple controls, great implementation, just wonderful! This guy makes some great and uniquely interesting games and this is our favorite of his so far.

This game is really well done. It makes you think but isn’t impossible and makes you get creative with solutions. :) very worth it.

It’s just the right level of complexity mixed with beautiful art and a heap of Kenny Sun style.

We are not far enough through this yet to give it a thorough review, but did want to get at least one review out there to say that the developer jumped on the initial reported bugs quickly and it sure seems to be fine now. Quick work!

Tentatively pleased with the update. Level 5 no longer presents as a graphics processor overload crash. Once you get past the actual opening credits that follow the gameplay looks interesting.

We were working on one puzzle and the blue prism started glitching and was randomly appearing on different parts of the screen (not on the puzzle board). We wish there were some more practice/tutorial levels also to help players get a handle on the controls and how to move the other colored prisms before tossing you into the actual game mode. Some of these puzzles are incredibly difficult to move the other colored prisms without pushing them right off the board. Overall it’s fun enough, but you may get too annoyed with the functionality. Additionally, there aren’t any hint options, so if you get stuck, you’re just stuck.

The programmer unfortunately designed level 5 in a way that totally appears like it crashes. The response to your actions slows to a crawl and the screen goes blank. But… If you wait about 5 seconds, you’ll see that this is all a prelude to title screens and some welcome animations. After this, everything plays fine. The game is actually quite good!

Needs better thought out level 3.

We purchased this and was so excited to play because we love yankai but it won’t even go to the loading screen without crashing on our iPad mini. We’ll keep it for a couple weeks to see if you guys can fix it, otherwise we’ll delete it… As reluctant as we may be to do so.

As noted, even on an iPad Air Pro, the game becomes insanely sluggish on level 5, then crashes altogether. Major disappointment for an Apple featured game.
