Escape from Crimson Manor Ep.1 Reviews

Why all these sub-par reviews? In so very many games the navigation besides being a labyrinth, having one going back-and-forth so much, that without a cheat sheet one gets dizzy its impossible to remember just where one saw what. Even taking screenshots. This game has the most realistic navigation of getting around ever. Its like youre really there, and just walking. One can remember. And its simple. There are but two rooms. You turn left or right, walk down the hall, and enter, looking around rooms as if youre right there! A pure delight. Congrats to the developers. The clue book is handy, too, meaning less screenshots, and one can view and interact at the same time. But some clues didnt get copied, because Id needed first to actually touch them? And sometimes a single tap might have been preferable, vs. Having to do two. All-in-all, a really fun and interesting time. And thank you for playing for free! So, must review! However, for $3 we wont purchase the sequel assuming therell be more, too because $6 or $7, overall, out-of-pocket prices, total, are reserved for purchasing interactive board games we can repeatedly play with friends, or for truly, incredibly superb games, like Myst, where ones gets lost for days on end Again, the most enjoyable navigation we’ve ever had. While we would pay $.99 for the next puzzle, just for fun, Im so sorry, as fun as we had, we wont be continuing onto episode 2. Thanks so very much! Linda PS. The ending scene was our least favorite.

Beautifully done. Fun, challenging puzzles. Helpful hint system. When needed. Give it a try. You wont be disappointed.

Its very glitchy. Have gone through a wall. Its very sensitive. Its hard to control where Im going. A good plot.

The toolbox puzzle has the 2nd slider bar far to the left basically off screen. The slider is outside of the puzzle and to far to even slide it. So we cant complete the puzzle and cant continue on. We had to restart the game in order to be able to finally finish the game.

We are a very easy person to please when it comes to playing, and enjoying, an intriguing game. But enjoy is the key word!!! The premise and concept are engaging. But the gameplay is buggy and very irritating. Our first time playing we had to restart because we got locked into a scene and couldnt back out. Graphics seem to blend into each other occasionally. Maneuvering the 360 screen is way too sensitive. On the flip side, things like changing letters on the cryptic are painfully slow. And if you miss a letter we cant reverse it. We must go all thru the alphabet. As for ease of play, the game is overly complex, even for an escape game. And the hints are really too cryptic to make playing more enjoyable. We dont want to be stressed by a game. $1.99 is not much for a game. But its a lot when we just want the game to end so we get our moneys worth!!! We respect the efforts of a small development team and want to support them. And we have enjoyed their other static graphic P.A.C games. So we know they can do better.

We almost didnt purchase this game because of the rating and the reviews, and we usually dont purchase games that dont have a free trial, but something told us to give it a try, and Im so glad we did. This game is very under-rated, we loved it. The graphics, the storyline, the puzzles, all great. We do however, wish it was a bit longer, although for the price, we feel like it was adequate. There were a lot of complaints in other reviews about the controls, we didnt have a problem with the actual controls of the game however we wish they were reversed. Great game, look forward to more by this developer.

We really liked this game. Not too easy, not too hard. The perfect challenge.

Very entertaining game just like all the others by this developer. Cant wait for the next part.

Okay. So we get it. Everybody, it appears, seems to think solving puzzles 3D style is so cool. Well, it is a veritable headache. Literally, a headache. Lol. This developer makes fun puzzle games – not too hard, not overly silly. We enjoyed this less than their usual creations only because of the nauseating spin 3D induces. And it is terribly short, but then, it is – to be continuedI prefer the whole lot in one installment. Oh, please our dear puzzle makers of all hues, not everybody is into 3D. Anyway, keep up the good work, and thanks.

Having played most all escape games, we love finding new ones that are well done. This game is a great mix: decent level of difficulty, layered puzzles, decent gameplay. If we had to suggest a few things An option to reverse the drag direction: on most devices, you pull towards an object, not push to them. And option to pinch back out instead of the back button. And an option not to automatically catalog clues – this takes the fun out of figuring things out. But nice work, we enjoyed it.

This would be a good game except for the fact that it freezws occasionally and has absolutely horrible controls.

We just purchased this game and wasnt expecting the layout which is different but ok, we really cant play this game unless there was an inverted option to navigate, big for me.

The controls at extremely frustrating. We want to drag around the screen, but get it wrong almost every time. We thought for sure this would be a setting, but nope.

We are currently playing this game. Love the style, art design, puzzles, 3d effect. However there are some bugs and glitches. For example, we are playing in the second room, when zoomed in aa puzzle, we move a block and the camera zooms all over the room. So we cant really finish the puzzle. Gonna keep trying though, push through the glitch to finish the episode. , cuz we really want to see the ending.

This game made us so motion sick. Also, the controls do not play nicely with the iPad Pro. For example, in the library, the sliding tiles puzzle is impossible to move without also moving the room all around. We cant play this game because it makes us ill.

We really really wanted to love this, because we’ve very much enjoyed MediaCitys other adventure games. Unfortunately we cant handle the smooth-scrolling graphics with the contrary swipe action. It makes us nauseous after a few minutes play. Just now we tried playing the game again after a break of several months, hoping that the effect wasnt as bad as Id remembered. Alas, after a few seconds we knew we couldnt continue. Two stars, to catch the attention of the developers. Please, we beg you, give us an option to set the swipe action to normal. That should have been the default in the first place. We have no problem with the smooth scrolling in the Room series, for example. Ill give a positive update once we can actually play the game. We imagine that youve worked very hard to make a beautiful game. We dont understand why you havent quickly responded to all the requests to give an option reverse the swipe action, because why you would want to prevent a substantial number of your fans from playing the game? Heres the thing: if you dont suffer from motion sickness, then youll have no idea at all what we are complaining about. The only way youll know is if you listen to what we are telling you about our playing experience.

We liked the other games by MediaCity but this one consists of going back and forth between two rooms. Got a little old after a while. The navigation was wonky, not intuitive at all. Why such a drastic change in the look and feel of the game compared to previous games?

We wish we had known that the graphics move the way they do before we spent money on the game. It almost makes us sick when playing.

We love these types of games and we were excited to see a new one had come out. The controls are so incredibly frustrating we have deleted the game once and decided to try it again and again find myself wanting to delete it. Its a bummer because Im sure they worked hard on it and Im sure its a great game, if the controls would have been normal.

We got outside the first door without unlocking it. The sliding lock had one of sliders outside the puzzle. We had to restart twice because of the glitches. Really not up to their usual standard.

Great game with an enjoyable level of difficulty. Not too much traipsing around. Hope the next chapter comes soon!

We love this developer and had a great time playing all their past games. Im just not a fan of Real time 3-D graphics.

So glad to see this developer back! Game was everything expected from them with the enjoyment factor in the challenges that made you think, but then solvable! Great background and storyline. Waiting for the next episode!

We liked this game though it wasnt very long. It said at the end , to be continued. We found it a little hard at first to navigate around but we got the hang of it. When will the next chapter come out?

The game was nicely done but we found some of the puzzles lacked logical answers and so you had to rely on the hints too much. As an example, just because there is a book of Hamlet in the safe doesnt connect with the answer to the rotating bookcase in the library.
