Find out what gamers are saying about Haunted Hotel: The X (Full):

One of the best big fish games in a while! Great graphics. Intriguing story line. Really liked the mini games, some were very challenging. Lots of morphing objects and petals to collect. Good map. Everything just really well done.

Had to delete and re-load, now running very smooth. Great so far, scary but not gross, very nice graphics and super creepy sound track.

Elephant Games has created a great eerie treat for your Halloween fun! A bit too spooky for the kiddies, this one is just right for grown ups. You are investigating the old Lexington Hotel, in which several people were murdered. You’re looking for a reporter who was lost there. Luckily, you have her camcorder, which allows you to both play and print the cassettes you find inside. Suitably dark and dreary, the hotel and its grounds include lots of opportunities for puzzles. Along with the Hidden Object variety, you may find yourself building a ladder or creating a clay figurine using a mold and blowtorch! Fun! Great Hint, Skip, and Map help with the fun. You will be collecting Morphing Objects as well as Flower Petals. Treat yourself to this winner!

Well done. One of the best. Well laid out and clean interface.

We love this game. We’re already on the Bonus Chapter, so, the only negative thing we can think of to say is that it’s too short! Great graphics, sounds, map, storyline, characters, everything. Our very favorite thing is that it doesn’t just say it’s scary, it really IS scary! The protagonist was scary sounding! We recommend it to anyone.

Nothing to say about Elephant game’s art department, speechless as usual. Story is good, but not very good, we do feel Eipix has better story.

Elephant games did a great job and this game is perfect for getting you in a Halloween mood! It is rather darkly drawn – lots of dark colors, purples blues grey etc which while adding to the spooky ambiance makes it hard to see sometimes. Lots of vermin and a really nasty Nanny to deal with. Looking for morphing objects, flower petals, and orphan pictures. Most of these are well hidden. Has a transporting map, sane mini games and HO. Long game play also! Lots of spooky ambiance! Verdict: if you love spooky surprises buy and enjoy!

This game played great on our iPad mini 2. It was not as creepy as we like, but still creepy. Great game.

Outstanding! Very well thought out with real spook factor. This game will have you on the edge of your seat. Absolutely Loved It! Hidden object scenes interactive at times, unique puzzles, nice teleporting map and a awesome storyline, not to mention an all time favorite – morphing objects. Elephant Games never disappoint! Thanks for keeping our hear racing. KdBoots.

We thought this game was very good. Just long enough, the puzzles were hard enough, and easy enough to solve without pulling out your hair!

We absolutely loved this game! One of the best Big Fish has had to offer in a while. Good story, terrific graphics, Bonus and Secret Room. Plus Custom… Love Custom.

Fun and well paced game that is filled with ghoulish and ghostly figures that come out to entertain while you are making your way through the game. Cannot put this one down it is sooooooo much fun.

Playing on a iPad Air with latest iOS version. First time played we had just made it into the house, then closed down and went to bed, next morning started game and only got black screen after getting the splash screen trying to get to buy more games. Had to delete game and reinstall. Happened again after we climbed down into the courtyard, same thing had to delete and reinstall and do it all over. Third time we were at the very end , closed down to have dinner, then game would only show black screen. This is the second game we purchased that did this, not sure if we want to buy more games, had downloaded like 18 games like this before and never had any issues.

Beautiful graphics, customized Hint button refresh rate (15 seconds), long-playing, top-quality all around!

We are having fun playing this game. Look forward to more like it.

Great graphics. No glitches. Good story. Could’ve used more hidden object scenes. But we enjoyed it.

Wow… Excellent graphics. This game really keeps your interest, plus has a great storyline too. An entertaining Halloween game.

Great graphics, great sound, great gameplay. We absolutely loved this game. As good or better than "Gravely Silent". Perfect to play during Halloween.

Greetings, Gamers: A big sweeping bow and curtsy to the fine devs @ Elephant. What an excellent job they’ve done with this game: haunting atmospherics, good storyline, great graphics and music and scariness to boot! We actually got the heebie-jeebies hearing the moaning cries for help and knocking coming from nowhere… And everywhere! Puzzles were interesting and varied as were the HOS. Collectibles were fun to keep an eye out for (when we wasn’t looking over our shoulder!) Glitch-free, this game had incredible fluidity unlike anything else we’ve experienced here lately. Transport map was smooth and efficient. A wonderful wink of the eye and nice touch: the orphan photos are actually baby pics of the game devs as tykes. It was fun reading their English/Anglo names then flipping them over to read their names in their native language and job title. Quite clever! The secret room is a nice bonus. Going back in now to beat our original time. Want some spooky fun, thrills and chills? Give this game a go and enjoy an early Halloween treat. We see there’s another one in the works, can’t wait! Way to go, mighty Pachyderm! Until next time, fellow gamers May the haunted stars light your way.

The premise does not foster any new concepts; rather, it delves into a recast subject matter similar to those in other series. Fortunately, for horror fans like myself, this game well-defines the adjective "ominous." As you explore your surroundings around an abandoned, decrepit, and desolate hotel, you will encounter chilling visuals, such as smothering vines twisting around the walls and gates; gloomy, debris-ridden hallways; blood-stained and cobweb-infested furniture; and the ghostly apparitions of tortured souls. Even the background noises appropriately provoke frightening senses with the screams, laughter, and moans of ghosts; creaking of the doors and floors; and the shattering of glass breaking as a paranormal-like arm lunges out at you. The use of the cassette recorder is an effective element in order to gain insight into the sister’s disappearance. The graphics are slightly faded and muddy; they lack the delicacy of first-class skills. The color scheme is strongly overshadowed by a consistent, dominant shade of purplish-blue that adds a dark and foreboding sense of anticipation, together with the complimentary thick and hazy mist that lingers around your every move. You can customize your settings; options allow the avoidance of sparkles and search penalties. Inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. The map permits fluid transport to locations and indicates current tasks. Textual information is observed by collecting parcels of reading materials scattered around. The HOS consist of the frequent styles that we have become familiar with; however, they offer a satisfying medley of various types, which should suit everyone’s palette. The puzzles are elementary in challenge but relate to the story in substance. Transition between scenes is smooth and brisk; no glitches. You have some collectibles, which can be unobtrusive in placement. Overall, this is the best of the last 4 games for us. Still waiting for that hidden gem though!

We like this game, it’s better than most of the BF games imo. We’re defiantly a horror buff, so this kind of game is right up our alley. However, we don’t understand how this game can cost a lot more than True Fear: forsaken souls, and only have half the amount of graphic visual creepiness. We’re still waiting for the NEXT installment of True Fear, and hoping it comes threw seeing the reviews were so high, and ending leaving us fans hanging. But we do like elephant games too, props to developers on this game.

BigFish, this is the first decent game you have given us in 3 weeks, and it’s not a 5 star game. However, as with the others in the series, Elephant gives you a creepy and thrilling game. The graphics were gloomy and grayish but it was in keeping with the ambiance of the game. You could customize your settings. The inventory was labeled, interactive and had complex items to assemble. There was an excellent teleport map to transport you, marked if so customized, and transition between locations was instantaneous. In each location are a variety of collectibles, which included orphan photos, morphing objects and flower petals. You get a neat gadget to work with, where you find cassettes and learn more of the story about the evil nanny. After you play the cassette you print a photo and use it to unlock hidden secrets. There weren’t a lot of locations but there was a lot to do in each location. The HO scenes had some variation to them, and it wasn’t an overly HO-laden game. There were a lot of different puzzles throughout the game; of course there was some boring rotational junk but there were others that were fun. Some required dexterity, others required logic, and some involved codes. So basically there was something for everyone. There was no journal but notes collected along the way to give you more insight. Objectives were regularly updated as you played the game. The hint system was not a spoiler. We deducted a star because we would have liked a true journal and also for length. The game felt short even with the bonus adventure. Also some of the puzzles were a bit hard to manipulate so it was a bit glitchy. But thank you Elephant games, for NO RODENTS, as the game was creepy enough without them! This was still a really good game but we would really like something gorgeous next. Maybe our dear developers at EIPIX or Mad Head or Sunward or BOOLAT could oblige? BigFish, we need some amazing blockbuster games, ones with journals, instantaneous loading between locations, teleport maps (marked of course), lengthy, with magnificent graphics, interesting and varied HO scenes, and innovative puzzles! Will we ever get a new Empress from the Deep? What about a new Amaranthine Voyage? Give us something magical! After the last two flops (Sable Maze and Witches Legacy) you owe us BIGTIME, and our review team and we are not letting you give us any more (expletives deleted) games. We pay too much and we are worth more than those two failures! So stick with the creme de la creme of games and make us happy again! If we aren’t happy, we give you poor reviews, and you don’t make money! Lynxie sends to the magnificent, articulate DTE!

Story is unclear. No connection between actions so constantly depend on hints. Prefer games with some sense of direction (or flow might be a better word). Not really enjoying, yet anyway. But will persist as we already had to pay to play.

No bugs so far. Quite low res, some annoying cut scenes that play every time you enter a room stopping you from clicking anywhere else.

Seriously, you are making a game about atmosphere. You clearly put the time and effort into the sound effects and visuals. Do you REALLY need to keep popping up boxes nagging people to rate the game to completely pull them from the experience? Come on, at the end of the game, a reminder is completely sufficient. How completely annoying after paying for the app. Also, don’t need to be nagged about buying the latest "on sale" app you have out. Stop the nonsense and let players play.

The Good: Like most people, we agree that this game has a nice storyline and solid well done graphics. It also has the bonus scare factor. No glitches, runs smoothly with easy menu options. We enjoyed looking for the bonus paintings and such. The puzzles given were also well done offering variety and a decent challenge The Bad: our problem is more with the everyday object finding (all the little things you need to get to open a door, a journal or a cupboard). It was a constant back and forth motion that got so tedious. For example, you would need a flower shaped object for a drawer. In the next room, you find it and then return to the drawer to open it. That drawer had another object for a drawer somewhere else. You go there and that one had a piece for the original room. Basically you went in circles. We would find a leaf for example, forget where it went and have to use the Hint button to remember. Then again we would use it only to find an object needed for the room we were just in. Also the Finding Object areas were not very challenging. In fact they were too easy (they were in plain sight and never hidden very well). In the end, we didn’t hate the game but it was definitely not a favorite.

Idk why it keeps on coming to a black screen buy we have downloaded it again to see if it works but if not we want our money back!!!

We just unlocked the game. We were charged. We try to continue into the next room, and we cant. We can only navigate rooms we have already played. We cant load any active areas. Hint doesnt work. How about a refund? We left BigFish games because of these issues. We came back in hopes the quality improved. We see it hasnt. When we leave this time it will be for good!

This is good if you like horror/haunting themed games, but personally we’re getting bored of them. *update: after trying to resume game with "continue to game" button at one point during bonus chapter, all we got was a black screen and game wont load. We see others had this problem too. Want a refund! It’s becoming more and more of a risk buying Big Fish games with all the glitches we’ve experienced.

This could have/should have(!) been a very good game except for it going to a black screen twice — each at different stages of play. It simply would not open! We deleted and reinstalled it both times hoping for it to have somehow been magically fixed. Dare we delete and start again for the "third time’s charm" test? Nope! Don’t think so… How do we request a refund?? UPDATE Third time was a charm!! After begrudgingly deleting and reinstalling it again, we finished the entire game without a problem. It was well worth the extra effort as it was super entertaining.

Game wont load after playing it for a while, turning it off and then going back to it. When you hit continue to game, the screen just turns and stays black.

We played this for a while, then it froze. So we uninstalled and reinstalled, taking us back to the beginning…….3 times. The screen just goes black. Every other game works, plenty of battery. We expect to be able to at least finish a game for $6.99. To make it worse, reporting the issue is a giant hassle.

Drops every time you open, we want a refund!

We’re paid for the full game but it doesn’t load. I’d like a refund.

We can’t even get the game open. We purchased a while ago but just tried playing tonight and all we got was a black screen. Please update or give us a refund!!

… We would be playing the game on our 5th generation iPod and all of a sudden it would take us to our home screen. When we would try to go back, all we would get was a black screen and nothing would happen. We deleted and re-downloaded twice and it did the same thing but at different points in the game. We were not able to finish, and we feel like we wasted our money. Please fix.

Black screen of death after 10 minutes of game play on iPad. We tried everything on their support page and nothing worked. Very, very disappointed.
