Journey deep into the Spine of the World mountains, a harsh and unforgiving territory settled by only the hardiest folk. Encounter fearsome beasts that have learned the cunning and ferocity needed to survive among the snow-shrouded peaks. Confront an evil that schemes beneath the carven glaciers and mountainsides to wreak destruction upon the face of Faerûn. This is the world of Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition.

Community Insight:

We are obsessed with dungeons and dragons lately and this game is the perfect fix. We even prefer our iPad version over our console version, although the original PC is still the best version. This version is streamlined for mobile and they did a good job with it. We love coming up with different party scenarios to try and then making a run thru the game. Even though we have most everything memorized by now there's still something so comforting about these games, including Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, etc. We never get bored or tire of these games and it's a must they remain on our tablet. We highly recommend any of these games.

We have not had any technical or other issues we see in some reviews. What we like most about this game is that it is one of the only games we can find that you can roll and design a multi character party. 6 characters of various classes. Nearly every game on IOS like this is one character only.we much prefer having our own characters making up a large party. Game is actually 3 modules in one. There are 2 larger adventures and one shorter one. Love everything about it.

It is literally our favorite game ever, at this point. The spacious atmosphere. The random items. The portraits and voice acting. Customizing parties to one's liking. On an iPad!!! Say what!!! For this gen-xer, this game is our Solitaire, our Mahjong, our Tetris, our go to when we want to chill. Thanks Beamdog!!! Rufff.

We need Chinese on ios Chinese translations have been updated on steam.

This is a beloved game for us. We spent countless hours playing this on our laptop when it first came out. It gave us so many hours of entertainment. To have this game on our phone is amazing, we love this game. It plays as great now as it did then, thank you.

Plays great, the touch controls work well. We love most of this type of games (baldurs gate 1 and 2, divinity original sin, planescape, etc…) and this one does not disappoint. Got it for 5$, and not disappointed whatsoever. We didnt play the expansion content during our main story play through, and regretted it, since that would leave you higher level and with great items for the main quest. It still played well after, though.

Im on such a nostalgia high. These old point and click games were made to be played on a touchscreen. So cool. Can you guys make the original Fallout for the iPad/iPhone as well? That would be sick.

We love this game because the controls are easy. Theres actual strategy to take out enemys. Its also challenging. We have one question though, how to you delete old imported characters.

Beamdog has brought us an undistilled Icewind Dale experience. Everything we remember and loved from the original PC masterpiece is here in all its enhanced glory. The touch controls are very intuitive. Those complaining about playing on their iPhone, get real; the developers did the absolute best they could, but the game simply wasnt designed to be played on a small screen.

Ive played the entire series many years ago and we were really excited when it was rebooted for iOS/Android. The app works well, its quick on the iPad Pro – cant wait to see more titles come out soon.

Works great even on a small screen. You can turn details on to show lootables and with a few auto-pause settings, the game works even better on mobile than on PC.

Lots of nostalgia playing this game, still love it.

We love playing this game particularly on our iPad. However, about three chapters in, our thief stopped wanting to use his bow from a distance and standard charging mobs before he would fire an arrow, making him basically useless. We tried changing his script and that would fix it either. This is mentioned as a bug in the computer version but, since it is iPad, theres no way to manually fix a character script. Please fix this melee bow bug.

Game is good and worthy of a download but there is a caveat – we dont think the developer is supporting the game anymore. They promised a patch that never came and their support page no longer works. Hoping theyll get around to it.

We would like to start off by saying yet another great emulation of a great game. This is going to be our first full play through and Im trying to connect with our brother via online multiplayer however, we are unstable to connect or even find the game. We are on iOS he is on Mac. The description calls out cross-platform and both devices are listed as compatible. Not sure what the issue is but will stay 3/5 until the problem is resolved. If it is just our ignorance on connecting we will apologize.

The toggle for the highest difficulty mode, Heart of Fury, is still broken and has been as long as Ive had this game. It does not matter how many times you put it on this difficulty level, it will reset to the next difficulty lower than this each time you reload the game. It also does not always take place immediately, you have to pass through a zone for the difficulty to change after you flip it back. This is a real pain in the rear. In addition, it sure would be nice to have the ability to add custom portraits on iOS like Baldurs Gate or Neverwinter nights. The number of portraits that come with the game is pretty limited.

Very disappointed with iOS IWD:EE version being behind all other platforms which prevents any actual cross platform play. There arent any discussions on Beamdog Forums regarding this nor any information on a forthcoming release. Im a reasonable consumer, and we understand all of the amazing projects Beamdog is working on, but info on an estimated 2.6.6 release for iOS would be great. (Cross Platform was the main reason we purchased this game for our iPad, so please dont make us regret this purchasepretty please with a Miniature Giant Space Hamster on top!).

Constantly overwrites saves with its auto saving feature. Youll get stuck with a character dying and then try to reload only to realize that the 4 times you saved before are just gone. Cool.

We were really excited to get started, but our heart sank when we found out theres no way to set the facing of your party formation when moving. In the original you could accomplish this using right click + hold to move. On iOS right click is long press, but a long press + hold pans the camera instead. Setting the facing of your party is extremely important for tactics and for navigating tight spaces. Without a way to do this quickly, the only way is to move each character individualvery cumbersome for a 6 man party. Because of this lack of just one feature we cant give it more than 2 stars. It is that important. Id rather lose the ability to zoom the camera than to lose the ability to easily set party facing.

Decent enough port though we find all the changes they call enhanced bothersome at best to outright objectionable with major additions and core changes to how proficiency works and dislike the interface. The big issue for us is the action icons under our sprites. We dont even want selection circles showing (which can be disabled) let alone weapon icons floating under everything. If we could shut those awful icons off id play on ipad. With it in place its so distracting and emersion breaking we will never get more then 20 min in on ipad. Its a deal breaker for us. Decent on pc but the added useless graphics just ruin it for us on the ipad. If we could get our money back we would.

We have a iPhone 6s and we think for this particular phone it needs to be fixed because when we complete something and leave when we come back that progress is all gone so it needs help on the saving part of things and we hate it when u make your character and back out it deletes your character thing there should be resume party making.

IPhoneX, iOS12. Too small to be useful, and we get no sound.

Even on an xs max the text and ui elements are too small to be playable. Enjoy the game on an iPad instead.

World icons just vanished! Cant leave our current destination! We cant believe this sort of bug exists in 2022.

The game looks great, and Im sure it is fun on a computer. But it is not playable on the iPhone. We cant get past the first combat, cant command the characters to really do anything. There is not a manual to help either. We had to give up on this after 1 day of trying to make it work and except it is just not fun when you cant do anything.

Cannot get this game to size up to our screen.

This game is basically unplayable. Its like trying to play Wow on an iPhone. Complete waste of money wish we could get a refund.

DO NOT RECOMMEND TO BUY. The author just adjusts price as update content last year! Its better to go to play cracks, at least there is a language package inside.

A nightmare to play on an iOS UI. There clearly werent any improvements made to justify accommodate smaller screens and most of the time its just a hot mess.

Playing on 12.9 iPad Pro and the GUI is so tiny as to be unplayable. Dont waste your money on this effortless cash grab. Frankly, Apple should be ashamed to allow this scamware.

Theres no tutorial or guide or anything to help you learn how to play the game. It looks like it could be fun, but for now its an unplayable waste of money. Do not buy. This is for veteran players only, apparently.

This could be a great game, but we will never find out. We have tried to talk to NPCs in the first room (inn) and have no idea how to get started. The help is worse than useless and this is completely frustrating.

Are they kidding with this port? On the iPhone X, which has been out for a year now, still isnt supported? They really expect people to read that tiny text? Wasted 2 bucks and doubt Ill get a refund.

Our favorite game for sure, goes way back for us.

This is one of our favorite classic RPGs and it was incredibly well adapted to the mobile platform. We play whenever Im waiting around somewhere with nothing to do. Worth every penny.

The Orrick's store bug broke our game – at the end of Chapter 3 we still can't see any of the bonus items even if we buy something or go away and come back multiple times. Updating to 2.5 did not fix. Come on guys, you've known about this bug for at least FOUR YEARS and you still don't have a fix.

The game looks amazing, however it is almost unplayable due to how small everything is. We have an iPhone X and the font, even scaled to its highest, is far too small to read comfortably. Very unfortunate. If we could see what Im doing we would be inclined to give the game a higher rating. We.

Why is this app suddenly only taking up a few inches on our iPad Pro? Come on now, didnt you test it at all on the newer iPads when you released the updates.

Update: They updated the App!! And yes, it works flawlessly! We're am completely satisfied with the producers, now! It IS a shame, though, that it took them this long to update the App, but we'll take what we can get. And the optimization for the iPad Pro works like a charm. Even the quality of the graphics improved! Well done, Overhaul Games! Well done, indeed! (Now just get that Baldur's Gate: EE updated!) "This App may slow down your iPhone. Please contact the developer to update the App." Update #4: Still nothing, yet we added one more star to our rating because, according to the website (as of the 5th of July 2017), an update is "on the way" for BG:EE and BGII: EE (they added in ID:EE as an afterthought, so hopefully there as well), but no ETA. We'll update our rating IF this app gets updated. Update #3: Nothing. We've tried contacting support, yet the iOS version of this game isn't even available to select on their website, and you can't contact support without selecting a title. Epic fail. Update: Still no update! Send us the code and we'll update if for you for free! We just want this updated! Update: Still nothing. Are you guys kidding us? Oh, wait, we got it. You're gonna wait and make this "free-to-play" then put ads and make an in-app purchase to remove them, right? Just update the game! We paid good money for this.

Good overhaul but nothing that makes the it super adaptable to the iOS system. Add a mechanic that does this and we will give five stars.

We played though about half the game and restarted it with a new party. We played the game when it first came out. We like it more that BG series. The second time through, there was a bug with Orrick the Gray. His shop stopped updating after chapter two. That means that our Bard and Illusionist/Thief aren't getting new spells outside of what they find. Many of the really important spells are only found in that shop. Playing the game without dispel magic is pretty hard. It is a known bug and there is a fix if you play on a computer. On the iPad, you can't correct the code. We spent hours and hours throughout a two week making our perfect party and now what should be a great game is being ruined because of a stupid bug. Really annoyed. If we can just get through the game, we should be able to get some of these spells in the expansion.

UPDATE 3: Ive figured out what is wrong, but we dont know how to fix it – when the game is set to easy or story mode, on the ipad – it keeps switching between STR 25 and the characters natural STR # and also back and forth between invulnerable and not and plane protection and not… This interrupts the characters actions and they stop doing whatever it is that they were supposed to be doing. In other words, you cannot play in EASY or STORY MODE on iOS – major bug or something. It is so odd to us how this port is so much poorer than the BG1/2 and Torment ports. UPDATE 2: Ive finished BG1 and BG2 and Planescape Torment – all three very good games in their own ways. This is a HUGE LETDOWN. It has no protagonist or story line, which is ok – kind of like sitting down to play D&D after school in 1980. BUT, the AI is SO BAD that we spend half our time finding out where some straggler in the party is at, waiting at a door for them to all get there so we can enter into an inn or a store to get something. The tedium is high in this version too. Not nearly as direct or forward moving as BG or BG2 or Planescape Torment – we were excited because Im under the impression that it is newer and the graphics look a touch better, but how did they take all the LIFE out of the game that was there in BG1/2 and Planescape? Not sure that Im going to play this through… Disappointed – very disappointed. Now we have to go looking for a decent game to compare with BG1/2 and Planescape. :-( UPDATE; we've been playing. It mostly works. Just some graphics that go offscreen and make things difficult. We are unimpressed with this game. We were expecting something like Planescape Torment, but NEWER since it appears that this came out a year or two after Torment, but this feels 5 years older. We're not getting into it so far… It doesn't have the story or the feel that Torment has – we're going back to upgrade our review of Torment, yet again. It is starting to look and feel better every day compared to what is available out there. We were so excited when we finished Planescape and hoped that these would be similar in gameplay with different characters and the same engine. While there are similarities, this isn't nearly as good or easy to use or as intuitive. ALSO: ADDING this as well. We have yet to find an easy way to restore hp to our mage who has only 5 hp to begin with, resulting in her dying over and over again. She hasn't leveled up yet, and until she does, one hit usually does her in before anything can happen. We are extremely bored with this game so far… Extremely bored. —————-original review————– we're getting a message that says it isn't compatible. What gives? Now that we have sorted by most recent we see this is a common problem. We just finished Planescape:Torment which we ended up enjoying, so we downloaded (and paid our $10 for) this and was expecting to jump in to a game that would be familiar and that we wouldn't have to relearn the controls and all of that. Instead, we're not sure if it will even play on our iPadPro… So… Why isn't that stated in the game description gang? :-( Feeling taken advantage of here. Not likely to bother with BG or BG2 now unless this is handled fairly and quickly.

Not sure why, but this game is suddenly taking up about 5 inches of screen real estate on our 13 iPad Pro. Same with Baldurs Gate II. Please fix. This app was too expensive and too recent to be sunset.

Hi! Beamdog Oberhaul games! We want to know about your plan to deal with iOS 11 update. We have all of your great games BG1 BG2 IWD and Planescape : torment. When we felt the time is ticking, still we have a doubt about 'could we play those great games when the time has come?'. For all fans, tell us your plan. Thank you.

Without an update, this game will be incompatible with future iOS releases. Overhaul does a dreadful job of keeping its iOS and Mac App Store versions up to date; the Steam version is regularly updated. Just get it on Steam.

We love this game. Games are hard. Thats what makes them fun. Don't play games if you want something easy. Just watch tv.

If you like old school fantasy RPG's like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Avadon, Avernum, Ember and Dungeons of Chaos on iOS, then this game is for you.

Awesome remake of the original with add ones! Well worth $10! We highly recommend you check this out if you played the original (there will be quite a learning curve if you didn't play the original).

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT To remove any number of arrows, double tap that item and it gives you a selection option! You can also change the game difficulty and auto pause if monsters attack, all changed in the settings. This is an amazing PC game brought the the iPhone.

So awesome. Been waiting on this to be available and now it is. Works great on our iPhone 5s. For all u whiners that say it's too hard, they have walkthroughs for ur nonexistent imaginations. Played the pc version and this doesn't leave u wanting for more. Worth the buy. If u like involved story lines and rpg's this is the game for u.
