Hear from the Players – Powernode Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Powernode:

This game has potential. Our chief complaints: in casual mode you cant pause the game and then come back several hours or a day later to resume it. In regular mode, there are no hints telling you if its good or bad to reuse a node youve already made or better to create a new one. For that matter there are no hints or guidelines for best practices. So if you dont feel like being a game scientist and experimenting with different types of gameplay, (which, lets be honest, not many people have the time and desire for), this game ends up being a shadow of what we are guessing it is or could be.

Fun game. Until we upgraded to iPhone 12. Now, the connectors dont stick to the circles. :-)

We expected more for a game that we paid for but its a fun and challenging experience. Its very one dimensional but this forces you to make hard decisions. Its also buggy from time to time which makes it annoying when you have to start over from making good progress.

We second the other reviews. Its a good game but it is pretty buggy.

Seems cool, but its currently buggy and theres absolutely no tutorial.

While this game has a great look and feel, and a brilliant concept, it feels like a version 0.1 thats had very little play testing. Bugs: – periodically nodes will shrink and become illegible, which results in certain death – sometimes the feeders are feeding but the node we created just wont pass it on – often have to restart after playing as it locks up before we can hit Play Again Shortcomings: – pacing is horrible, as many others have commented – situations that are impossible will arise, such as trying to satisfy nine numbers going as high as 10 with only four source numbers with a max of 4… Theres surely math to determine what can be done and in how many ways, but the designers dont seem to have baked that math into the program Hoping this will improve but until then it doesnt feel worth playing anymore to us.

This Game is AWSOME we truly dont know what else to say. Great job thank you.

It makes you think but is still easy enough to be fun.

We are enjoying the game. Its a fun game that becomes challenging as you play. We are really looking forward to more play modes. It would also be nice if it was more obvious when a new node shows up. Often we lose a game because one is alerting us that we has no power and we didnt even realize it was there. Also, it would be cool if you could adjust your connections while the game was paused.

Great game. Theres options to go faster. But would be cool if there was an option to go slower. Or like another reviewer said, better pacing you you can just enjoy without the difficulty becoming too overwhelming too fast.

The game only includes a single mode: a highscore mode. The developers should really add levels to the game. Until then, we dont think this game is worth more than 99 cents.

We think this game gets too hard too fast? Theres no reasonable ramp-up. We’ve wasted hours getting to the same spot and dying, but we’ve tried everything and cant seem to get past it. We second the other reviewers who said there needs to be some kind of alert when new nodes pop up. And a way to mix up your connections while paused.

Starts easy – almost too slow – then quickly gets hard fast. With some practice and thinking, one can learn to survive for a while, but it just gets harder. We found it annoying that while there is an alarm for nodes which arent getting enough power, once its going off theres usually nothing one can do – it goes off too late to be useful.

Fun game but there are some bugs with it. One major one is node will not push the energy to the node even though all of the connecting nodes have charged the node. If we have to power a node of 9 and we connect a 5 and 3 and a 1, if all three pulse to make 9, then the game will not push the energy to the 9 node, and the node needs to be charged a second time in order for it to take and push the energy. This always causes us to lose the game.

We love this game. It’s easy to learn, but really tough to get scores into the 500+ range. We’ve played this game quite a bit. There are two major bugs: 1. The game freezes about one out of every five times you hit "Play Again", and, 2. We’ve now seen at least 12 examples of the game not generating "pulses" correctly. Usually later in the game, there will be a large "target" (point value like 11 or 12). We’ll draw the lines from the source nodes to create the value needed for the target. For example, we might draw lines from a 5, 4 and 2 to create an 11. We’ve watched carefully and seen multiple examples where the source pulses from all the nodes come in, but the "11 pulse" never gets generated, causing you to lose the game. We thought at first that we were just imagining it, but we’ve been watching and have clearly witnessed this multiple times.

So there isnt really a tutorial and its kinda of hard to figure out at first. Once you get playing, its kind of fun but there isnt much to the game so we dont think its worth the $2. It would be better if there were levels or something else that made the game more interesting.

The game has a great concept and we love the aesthetic of it but there are some major issues that we would love to see solved soon. 1. The pacing is all off. It starts of reaaaallly slow for beginners which is great but we seriously dont need to relearn the game every go around. Then after 5 years it eventually gets a good pace but that last about as long as a snowflake in hell before it starts going as fast as a greased up roller coaster. Total mood killer. 2. It has the same starting nodes every. Freaking. Game. We know how to play so Id like you to start mixing it up. 3. We HATE having to skip the tutorial every new game. Like seriously??? Who does that?? Overall: great concept with some poor execution. Fix the pacing to make it more zen (or even give us difficulty options) and then youve got a great game on your hands.

First off there is no tutorial but you can fiddle with it and figure it out. Sadly there there just isnt any depth. We love casual relaxing immersive games and this one is the worst.

This game is almost great. It starts slow, which is fine when you are learning. On subsequent plays, even with the skip function, the beginning is too slow. Next, theres a nice pace, where you have enough time to let the different patterns evolve as you watch some nodes pop and disappear, and you can choose the aesthetics of your layout. We want the whole game to be mellow and pleasant like this. However! It quickly becomes a different type of game, one thats like daring you KEEP UP ITS HARDER NOW! And WHAT ARE YOU DOING THIS ONE OVER HERE IS YELLING AT YOU!!! Its stops being fun, as though the game is trying to rush you out like its a popular brunch table. We hope the designers adapt this game to be more mellow, maybe with another setting for the mellow players.
