Scrabble® GO – New Word Game Review

This is the best scrabble game we’ve ever played online! It has several variations of game play! Daily head to head! Many many arena games! Weekly challenges! We cant say enough about it!!!

We officially play this game all day every day:) of course the adds are annoying but its something you get used to and it doesnt faze us enough to hate on the game, nor stop playing. And yea, weird ppl chatting with you is also annoying just mute the chat option and there you go! What we do find absolutely bogus is the whole card collection thing & you need to complete them in order to get new tiles. Since that system has been going on, we barely get any new tiles! & we have really put a lot of effort and time and once we even purchased a card pack, totally obsessed with getting the entire collection but you just keep getting the same ones, over and over again! From paying actual $, to playing duels to the top etc, we hate the card pack deal lets go back to the way it was before!! Please!! Also, the adventure levels het harder and harder and its literally impossible to beat without using diamonds for power ups or extra opportunities. The difficulty should balance out and actually allow people to win! Or when you beat a level without using all the turns, maybe they could accumulate and you can use them when you run out of lives/turns. Overall, great game but please forget the card collection and give us opportunities to get new tiles.

The game itself is great. We love playing and their mini games and tournaments are very cool. However, be careful who you friend and chat with because they are all bogus. We dont chat anymore if they ask for our personal information or email address. Everyone lives in the US but is working overseas, and they all want you to meet them on google chat or some such app. Its ridiculous. We thought we were on a dating app.. The game is fun, but please beware that most of the guys are a bunch of sleazy scammers. One guy even wanted us to believe he was Liam Neeson, but couldnt speak English . Just be careful on this game.

First, be very careful of someone chatting with you. They start off calling you baby, honey etc. One asked for our personal information. We cancel mall these games. Secondly, most of the ads in this game you cant cancel out of. We have to close out of the game then get back in. Lastly, there are hardly any rewards in this game. The real Scrabble game lets you get points to swap without losing your turn. They really need to do better. If our niece wasnt on here we would delete this game.

Every so often it tries to get you to download a game and the game pops up. A lot of them you can close out but some dont give you that option. You have to delete the app and reload it. Fortunately it does save your games and scores but its a real hassle. Someone needs to do a better job of debugging it or making sure that you can get out of links.

There is not a week that goes by where everything freezes up and we have to turn our phone on and off to get the app going again. Also so many ads.. Frustrating! Who actually pays attention to them anyway? Just a nuisance in our opinion.

The game is fun and addictive, but those incessant ads!!!! We totally understand the free game and the need to advertise other addictive games, but geeeeee whiz!!

We like the game itself but theres just too much going on. You earn all this stuff playing and have no idea what to do with it. For example, we’ve been earning these red ticket but have no idea what the heck they are for. All these booklets and diamonds and stars and sheesh. Then there are all of these games and icons and tournaments and challenges sheesh. We just wanted to play Scrabble with some friends.

Even if you choose silent mode, the first commercial ad blasts out so loud it wakes up babies and partners. Horrible way to get us to pay for ad free- to avoid waking our loved ones. Low move Scrabble, shame on you.

Cant do anything unless you pay to block same dumb ads . Easie to shut down and start up again than wait for ad to finish, the more advanced you go the longer the wait.

The basic gameplay is great. It can be fun for some period of time until the pop up advertisement junk interrupts. We dont want all these screens and rewards popping up in our face when Im simply trying to play Scrabble. Id gladly pay to get rid of all the stupid pop up junk that is useless to us. We had your older original Scrabble and it was great until you shut down the game servers. This new game is that old game, with an unnecessary facelift and ridiculous pop up screens that simply ruin a previously great game. Give us a way to get these awful pop ups off this game, please.

For the past two weeks we can not use the bonus gift. We love this game but very frustrated now. Plus you never answer messages sent Green n.

We love scrabble so much but this game is just pure ads. Expect an ad after every single move. The utter greed of Hasbro has made this game impossible to play because it is never ending ads. The ad free subscription is more than the average streaming service, we rather have audible and just play scrabble ad free with our friends in person. We’ve decided to let our games expire instead of dealing with Hasbro greed and the insufferable ads that again we were trying to pay not to have until we saw their capitalistic audacity. We enjoyed playing and chatting with people around the world but not enough to watch a 30 second ad after EVERY SINGLE MOVE for the same crappy games no one wants to play.

We have been playing this scrabble game with our sons for a few years now. It just continues to get more and more annoying! So many ADS!!!! The card packs are enough to run you crazy and like others have said, they are so plain and just not worth having to save!! We use our blue diamonds to swap bad letters, however we usually end up with even worse letters than Ibalready had!! If our sons did not want to play this game, we certainly would not be playing!

Cant even enjoy playing a game without ads and pop ups and automatically launching other games they want you to download. We removed the app because it is too annoying.

Ads after every turn. One of the ads is a bra commercial that you have to watch in its entirety. We enjoy Scrabble, but we are about to stop playing it on this app.

We get it the developers deserve to make a little money ?! But seriously! If we have to sit through one more Homescapes ad, we will puke !

Scrabble is great game, ruined by nonstop incessant ads. We finally gave up, too frustrating. We wouldnt mind a nominal charge to remove ads but $7 a month is way too much. Adios!

Really busy. Tons of adds. The reward system and leveling in the game forced upon you is a huge waste of time. If you like TWL or any accepted word standards in your scrabble, this is not the game for you. You can pay to cheat in your games. Id avoid this one at all costs.

Even with all of the anachronistic, nonsensical words that the game considers valid, there are still none to describe how terrible this app is. We’ve loved Scrabble ever since we were a kid, and we remember the old EA Scrabble and how fun it was. So we came back to see if it was still on the App Store and we were instead greeted with this abomination. Our original review was longer but we ran out of characters, so heres a few of the issues: 1: The ads. Yes, the ads. We know its been said a billion times. We know its cliche. We know you have to have ads to keep a free game running. But for the love of god, do you have to have an ad after EVERY SINGLE TURN?? We kid you not, there is an ad after literally every move you make. And maybe that isnt that bad when youre playing passively once every few hours with a friend, but when you have multiple games running and/or are trying to play with the computer, it gets very obnoxious very quickly. But its okay – because you can get rid of them with: 2: The microtransactions. And by get rid of them we mean either 1) Pay for a subscription service that costs, we kid you not, eight dollars a month. If it was $8 a year, then sure, that would be reasonable. But charging the same amount for a freaking Netflix Subscription is simply unholy. Or 2) Pay $0.99 to remove ads for ONE DAY. Yes, you read that right. Surely you can afford to spend one measly dollar to remove ads, right? We mean, you have to spend it again every single day, but its fine! Oh and also, thats allegedly half off according to the in-game store. So normally youd be paying $2 to remove ads for one day. There are options to spend more money to remove them for longer periods of time, but none of them are substantial and theyre all temporary. We cant believe Im saying this, but the old Scrabble by freaking EA had way fewer microtransactions. 3: The scamminess. So you know how we said you can spend $1 to remove ads for a day? Well guess what, if you go to the in-game store, youll see that option under the Daily Deals section, except it doesnt even tell you that it only removes ads for one day. In fact, all it says is No Ads with a tiny little clock icon next to it that says 1d. If youre a reasonable person youre not going to immediately assume that means spending $1-2 for 1 day ad-free, because that would be crazy, right? Any logical person is going to think, Oh, its in the daily deals section to that 1d icon probably means the offer expires after one day! But nope. And f you actually click on it to buy and the confirmation screen pops up, that doesnt even tell you its only for one day. It just says, Scrabble Bundle. Literally the only thing you have to suggest to you that it lasts one day is the tiny clock. It is as close as you can legally get to false advertising without it actually being false advertising. 4: The obnoxious prizes. So occasionally youll get offers to watch ads or spend real money on these loot-crate-esque prize boxes. Some of the included items are, Trading Cards (that as far as we can tell dont do anything), Tile Skins (I guess they look cool?), Tournament Tickets (because you can enter tournaments, but not for Scrabble. Theyre for weird minigames that mostly just rip off other mobile apps) or something called Celtic Coins that we still have no idea what do? The bottom line is that all of these rare, exclusive offers! Are entirely designed to predate on curious kids who dont know any better because the offers are all dressed up to look cool and appealing while offering absolutely nothing of any substance because hey, they already have your money. 5: The boosts. Yup, there are boosts! These mostly include things like showing you where good words could be played, swapping out tiles without losing your turn, etc.. Now this isnt really a problem on its own because Im sure a lot of people just like to play casually and dont really care about whether or not they have any help in figuring out good plays. And thats fine. But the real problem with the boosts comes in that, yes, you guessed it, they cost GEMS! Yup, gems! So basically, just through playing the game, youll level up, and thats fine. But in leveling up, youll earn more obnoxious loot crates which often contain gems. Now, if youre a young kid or a casual player who uses boosts often, you will run out of gems very quickly. But its okay, because you can (drumroll please) spend real money to buy more! 6: The bots. Literally 90% of the players are bots. You can tell this because in their profile, almost every player will say they joined in August of 2019 (Which was before the game came out) and they also play back extremely slowly. Now, there are other bots that will youll receive challenge requests from that have cartoon profile pictures, and these ones were made by the game. But nowhere does it actually tell you that these players are bots, so if youre like us and just think, we guess there must be a roster of profile pictures somewhere to choose from, its probably gonna take you a while to catch on. 7: The dishonesty. Now that may sound weird, but let us explain: If you agree to sign in with Facebook, youll be given a VIP button that you can click to turn on alleged perks and bonuses. Among these it claims one to be, Fewer Ads. But this is simply untrue. Its not a half-truth, or a twist of words, or anything like that. Its literally just a fabrication. There are just as many ads as before; theres one after every turn without VIP, and one after every turn with VIP. It makes literally no difference and is a blatant lie. Theres a lot more to say but Im running out of characters so: TL;DR: The game is full of ads, financially predatory, dishonest, glitchy and broken, misleading. Look, Im sure the developers themselves are fine people, but the company in charge of all the shadiness really needs to do better.

After nearly EVERY play an unclosable pop up spams you. You must close and restart EVERY time. Then it will end your game without a chance to even review the status. WORST. GAME. EVER.

We were very disappointed to find out that the pictures of the players are all fake because this game is strictly for playing scrabble with bots. No thank you!

This app causes our iPad to freeze up every time we open it.

We are waiting for the puzzle path to return its been off since April 19 whats going on with it when will it come back.

Wayyy better than words with friends but the same functionality!

The gameplay is good. The app itself is nice. Its just that when youre in the middle of a match it will randomly open a tab in your browser for an ad that wasnt visible or clicked on. It also opens the app in the App Store. Its annoying and kinda sus.

We like the game but it doesnt follow the rules of Scrabble completely. Our rival puts in words that are not real words and they are accepted. When we submit certain words they are not accepted. It should be the same for both players.

Even though she knows every word in the dictionary, we prefer to play Zoey, the computer, so as to avoid run-ins with creeps and scammers, and the games move along much faster. Tonight, however, we won a game we shouldve lost by a few points due to a programming error in which your app erroneously gave us credit for playing the last tile when I, in fact, did not. This has happened several times before, but it didnt make a difference in whether we won or lost. So tonight, for the first time, we felt no satisfaction in winning. Also, we’ve learned not to trust the computer when it makes a word suggestion for us, as we believe it has Zoeys best interest at heart and not ours.

We do enjoy playing but the amount of ads is ridiculous.

We paid $7.99 a month for a premium subscription in order to get rid of the many distracting ads throughout the game. Once purchased, we noticed the app constantly glitched and did not properly open the rewards we were entitled. We contacted support and all they could say was that they were aware of the issue. It became pretty clear to us that the glitches were done purposely in order to force people into purchasing reward packs within the app. Even with premium, you are still forced to view numerous ads just to earn rewards if you dont want to pay for them. You quickly run out. The entire game feels like a scam and money grab. We canceled our subscription within the first week.

Love scrabble and all the amazing games and competitions. That said, the ads can be glitchy and not return you to the game. The prizes sometimes get stuck and you wind up with no rewards. Finally, we have clicked on the no ads watch video many times and it is hit or Miss to whether you get the charm. We just watched an ad twice in a row and no charm. So many ads.

This game keeps freezing. Several times the computer has used abbreviations but then doesnt allow us when we try to use it. Now it freezes instead of giving us our upgrade.

A fun game, but crashes repeatedly. Each time you loose opportunity to get free move by watching ad.

It’s a good game, but the price of $7.99 per month is very high, too high. Then, if you play as guest, as we do, their are ads after every play, which are super long. It is a good game, but we wont pay price per month to buy the game, and with the ads we dont play very long. That is why we gave it three stars.

We use an ad blocker on our phone so we dont get any ads no thanks to you bye the way. We like your app and all but we think it is too complicated, we wish it was just simply scrabble and there wasnt so much other stuff.

We love Scrabble, and missed it when it disappeared. Scrabble Go is an adequate replacement, and the game is still Scrabble. But it is incredibly slow on our iPad and has even crashed the iPad more than once. It also runs ads between nearly every game. Some ads have been so long that we’ve actually rebooted the iPad in order for them to go away. There is no No Ads option, even for a charge, so we are stuck with them. We play the game because our friends and we really enjoy it. But we would love to have a No (annoying) Ads option. And please make it run faster!

Easy to relax in between housework, life in general!! So enjoy even a short break to relax yet keep our mind sharp!! We feel mentally engaged and enjoy playing!!!

Did you discontinue Duels with the recent app changes?

The games are fun but the are so many ads and it is $8 a MONTH to go ad free, not a one time but a month. Not worth it.

Lifes too short to be forced to see an AD after each play of the game.

The adds just keep getting longer and longer. Some ads are longer than a minute in length. It makes the game unplayable at times.

Advertisements after every single play! Annoying!!
