Community Insight:
Way better and more complex than the other simulacra games. We got stumped multiple times and had to consult walkthroughs but, other that we hugely enjoyed the game. The plot, the characters, everything was really well done.
The game was very very fun and puzzling to play but the jumpscares were just meh.
We just beat the game, and in previous Simulacra games once you completed the story you would have fast mode (to speed up the texts, so it would be easier to get different endings.) and there is no fast mode for this version? This is making it a drag to obtain the other endings. Also, the game kept crashing while playing, which would make us restart from our last saved point, and news flash, the game takes forever to save your progress. Its a letdown, but still fun.
This one this very mediocre compared-to first 2 and very bad storytelling so gimme our 8 dollars back.
This installment of the series was pretty mediocre compared to the first two so in this review im going to list some things we liked and some things we didn't like: so to start with what we liked, we loved the used of the ATLAS system, although a bit tricky at first. We learned how to master it quick. We liked the relationship between Ruby and the MC, the video calling system was a good idea but could have used some polish. Here is what we didnt like: some of the puzzles were a bit out of our range and we had to consult a walkthrough twice in our first play-through, where normally we would have either once or never checked one. We absolutely loved Pipe Dreams because of how it reminded us of the first game, but in SIM3 you kind of just say things connect some dots, say more things, and boom game end. Overall, a 3.5 out of 5. Not the best Kaigan games has to offer.
This game is a severe letdown in comparison to the first two games. The characters are very meh, its a stereotypical ghost story, and it simply drags out for a painfully long amount of time. The story isnt as complex as theyre trying to make it seem, and it just doesnt need to last that long. We constantly found ourselves getting stuck on every little puzzle, and had to rely on a walkthrough more than we ever had with a SIMULACRA game. Every time the game was like But wait! Theres more! We groaned in mental pain. Im being very dramatic about this but this is truly the worst experience Ive had with a SIMULACRA game. Its upsetting that this one cost more than the older (and better) ones.
Wish it was a bit longer but all in all we really liked it.
Update* we had to restart from the beginning and be very careful on the order in which we did things and we were finally able to progress and finish the game. We keep having to solve same puzzles over and over because it wont save or let us progress past a certain point. Hopefully an update will come out soon to fix this issue.
We wrote a review about this almost a month ago and the issue persists, we cant even play this game until it gets fixed because we keep having to solve the same puzzles over and over when it loses our progress and its getting so frustrating and hard to remember where we are or what we have or have not yet done. Guess Ill be wait for another update and hope they fix the issue. We sent a message to the app creators through their website and never heard back. Disappointing because we adore these games and we were thrilled to see there was a new one.
Thank you thank you thank you!! Ive been waiting for this ever since its reveal! The simulacra series has been our favorite when it comes to mobile phone gaming. We think these games are best played on your phone than any other gaming platform!!!!! We havent finished it yet but cant wait to see how many endings this one has.
(No spoilers, feel free to read in its entirety). Ive been waiting for this game ever since it was announced. Just finished it today, on launch day! We are a huge fan of the Simulacra series as a whole. The gameplay itself is smooth. We liked the video call, though there are cuts in the audio and some parts of it are noticeably louder than others. Like when you have the option to choose dialogue, the breathing in the call is loud, but once you make your choice it gets softer. The only thing we didnt like about this game was that there wasnt really any music! One of our favorite parts of Simulacra 2 was the AMAZING menu theme (seriously, we have it downloaded on Spotify) and also the songs that would unlock on the phone as you progressed through the game. Rexs music video always made us laugh. Simulacra 3 has unlockable recordings instead of music, which was a great concept but we personally didnt enjoy it as much. Also, unlike Simulacra 2, you cant listen to the recordings while you browse through the phones contents. All in all, great game, highly recommend even if youre not a horror fan. Jumpscares arent bad either. Thank you devs for launching this game on our day off of work.
This game is so scary and amazing and the plot is so good. Connecting the route is hard but this game is a 5 stars.
We were waiting for another game to be made.
Played all of the simulacra games and this one is the best BY FAR!!!! The first two Were great but we could never have a happy ending. Part 3 gave us a happy ending and it was well worth it! Loved every minute.
Jesus Christ, this game was amazing throughout all of it. Cant wait for the next installment.
Please continue to make more games in the simulacra series ! These found phone games have been our absolute favorite, and this series has been the best in our opinion.
This is such a good game! We honestly enjoyed everything that was new about it.
We loved how your choices impacted to the story and overall we loved the game and hoping for another one if possible.
These games are NEVER not incredible! This ones puzzles were quite a bit more challenging than the other games in the series but holy cow. What a fun experience.
This game was incredible. The voice acting was superb, sound effects were of high quality and realistic, the video effects were engrossing, the dialogue between characters was enriching and last but not least, we felt like we were there. We felt like the character we played was us and we really had someone elses phone in our hands! We felt like this whole situation would only be resolved by our choices. Thats another amazing aspect! Your choices matter. Ever decision you make has an effect on the experience. So choose wisely. We learned that the hard way. The only thing that was a disappointment was watching the credits roll and our tears could not be held back any longer. Ill miss all the characters for a long time. Cheers to you Paul, Ruby and the game developers! Cheers to you.
We loved it! Such a good addition to the others.
Great writing, good puzzles, the works. Highly recommend.
We absolutely love every Simulacra game so far, sitting down with a notebook & pens and just going to town on these games is something ive very much enjoyed doing across all three games. This one has to take the cake on the most interesting, innovative and just kinda downright cool these puzzles were. The mural puzzle??? Oh our god, genuinely loved them. Only thing we struggled on was the last part of the game, with the past to the truth part. The solution still makes no sense to us, but then again its hard to find any decent walkthrough pages or videos on this game. Im very excited to see what else comes out in the Simulacra series! One of our favorite horror series.
The game was enjoyable, only problem was it basically freezing so we had to swipe off and get back on. It would be nice if it saved more often too.
Beautiful art, cool new design features (love the ability to activate appliances and cameras in Paul's house), neat story. It's a solid, worthwhile game. The acting was subpar, though the actress for Ruby did a good job in that end bit. The big climactic confrontation felt small, especially when compared to Simulacra 2. The horror elements were very rare, and there were hardly any creepy bits like the background changes from the first two. Still, we enjoyed it.
We love this game. It is very well put together. However, we kept having to restart so many things because we wasnt able to save when we wanted to. We would play this game when it was convenient, but it made it hard to keep wanting to play because if we exited out of the game for too long, our progress would be lost up to the last auto save point. We hope that an update comes out in the future where this is fixed.
We havent played long but as soon as we go into chat to respond to the seer it freezes and we cant do anything. Is this a bug that needs fixing we paid for the game. Didnt have an issue with any of the others.
Still a fun game at the end of the day but it seems a bit unfair to compare it to the previous games. The characters dont have as much personality and the puzzles lack real challenge. And honestly the ending was a bit anti climactic. Overall this version seems more rushed than the others. Still worth playing imo, but keep this in mind before purchasing.
After loving both 1 and 2 we were pretty disappointed by how this game not only ran but played, in the last games the characters had humor and actually felt personable.. The characters in this game feel dull and boring no humor no good jokes no personality just bland. Ontop of that zooming in is a nightmare and often bugs stuff out, so good luck reading important things or locations.. The game crashed several times on us often leading to our most recent progress going back to our last save, which is far and few between over all pretty disappointing and we hope if there is a 4th its better than this.
Game crashes repeatedly during video call with Ruby in Pauls house. Super disappointing. Seems like the only fix would be to reinstall and lose all progress.
The beginning felt so dragged out, and so many characters were introduced and theyd end up being pointless and not adding any plot ! Our game also froze multiple times and id have to refresh our app which means we had to restart the last checkpoint, which was so annoying. Other than that we enjoyed the game itself it was unnecessarily long though.
We hate how we cant progress much further and Ive seen it happen with our twin we both have to talk to Ruby in different parts of the story but we cant it says shes offline. We dont understand. We looked everywhere and we even looked up a wall through and even the objective mentions to talk to Ruby. Also you need more check points cause we hate restarting the part over and over again. But mainly the ruby part is the issue please fix it. We want to finish the game.
We tried so many times to get further in the game . We tried to search etc , please have options for hints and to give answers in the game , it good but cant pass it.
We feel the story is decent enough, not nearly as clever or unsettling as the last 2 games, Im okay with the tools used but sometimes theyre buggy, but our biggest peeve is that throughout gameplay whether its playing a video or texting one of the characters, THE GAME WILL RANDOMLY CRASH, forcing us to go back to our earliest save and do everything all OVER AGAIN.
Slow scroll speed and glitchy so Ive had to restart the game several times to get past one point because the screen would freeze up and we couldnt interact with anything. Ive not had this issue with any of the other Simulacra Games.
While the intimate and voyeuristic "Simulacra" experience is mostly preserved, this game really highlights how much better Simulacra 2 was. Instead of focusing on a specific character and their immediate circle as in the previous game, this game tries to encompass the entire scope of a the enigma plaguing a whole town. While ambitious, the end result is weaker because the sense of immediacy and the dynamism of character personalities as seen in the second game is just not there. Compared to the memorable Murillo and Maya and friends, the protagonists of this game are…just there. And there are no other speaking cut scenes with any other live actors besides Ruby and the bland Paul, which makes the whole experience seem cheaper. Pair those shortcomings with an arguably worse phone interface with clunkier design and less interactivity than last time, and you get this overall underwhelming third installment. Perhaps the most disappointing thing about this game is that the humor and pettiness seen in characters that made the last game so much fun is virtually nonexistent this time around. In short, this game, even with its economical runtime, ends up feeling less immersive and downright boring at times (those extended Ruby videocall sequences are a drag). Hopefully these things can be remedied if there is a fourth game.
We loved the other simulacra games a lot so was hoping this one would be just as good, but was disappointed. We havent even gotten that far because of how poorly it runs on our device. Im using an iPhone 13 on the latest version and yet it feels very clunky and buggy, as if Im trying to run a game from 2012. For example, the texts keep freezing and the only way to get it to work again is by restarting the app and going back to the last save point (which is another annoying thing all on its own), trying to zoom in or out of the atlas map just does not work at all because the whole screen completely spasms out, and if we try to scroll up or down on a text conversation, it will erase the previous or subsequent messages until we exit the chat and go back in multiple times. We loved how the first simulacra felt. It truly felt like we were on someone elses phone. It was all completely smooth and well-made without any bugs like this. This one feels really poorly done. Im not even intrigued by the story, which feels very quickly put together and poorly thought through, but Im going to keep pushing through because we already paid for it. Overall, a complete disappointment compared to their other amazing games. Think Ill just go replay the others a few times after this.
The game is okay but its not as good as some free interactive horror games Ive played. Small details like the game forcing us to look at new messages that are sending instead of being able to look at older ones is frustrating. The game also doesnt give you the opportunity to save whenever you want which we hate as we lose tons of progress. For a paid game we expected way better.
The game itself is three stars at best but it keeps crashing and the only way we can progress is hoping we get a save fast enough. We are stuck at the end cutscene and it just keeps crashing.
